Abstract:We studied the delay-dependent stabilization problem for a class of uncertain singular system with time-delays and saturating controls. Theorems derived give sufficient conditions for delay-dependent stabilization of the singular systems with a combination of saturating controls and multiple time-delays in both state and control; we assumed the delays to be constant bounded but unknown, moreover, the uncertainties are also described to be unknown but bounded and the nonlinear terms included in the systems are fallen into a set. Under these sufficient conditions, the solution of the uncertain singular system is regular, impulse free, and locally asymptotically stable for all admissible uncertainties. Furthermore, the results based on several Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) are developed to guarantee stability and be computed effectively. Finally, we advance an example to demonstrate the superiority of this method.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of stability of hybrid systems with arbitrary switching laws, a class of affine nonlinear hybrid system was investigated. The complete dehybridization of this class of system was firstly realized according to the order-reducing character and by designing the controlling laws of sliding mode control. The control design of the system was then carried out according to the control theories and methods applied to common continuous nonlinear systems. At last, a final sliding mode control law which ensures the stability of hybrid systems was obtained by transformation. The simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed control law.

Abstract:Singular linear quadratic (LQ) sub-optimal control problem for a class of discrete-time singular systems with time-delay is investigated. First, based on the algebra equivalent transformation, the original singular LQ problem is transformed into a nonsingular LQ problem for standard discrete-time systems with time-delay. Under some general conditions, the optimal control law of the original LQ problem is given via successive approximation approach. The optimal control law can be synthesized as a sum of state feedback term and a time-delay compensation term which is a limit of a sequence of adjoint vectors.

Abstract:The design of state feedback H∞ controller is discussed for nonlinear discrete singular systems.By means of generalized Lyapunov function and linear matrix inequality(LMI),the asymptotical stability with zero solution is studied for the system,and a sufficient condition is given such that the system is asymptotically stable with zero solution and also a H∞ norm constraint.And a state feedback H∞ controller is designed to guarantee the performance of the resultant closed-loop system.A numerical example is given to illustrate the feasibility and validity of the conclusion drawn.

Abstract:This paper considers the problems of finite time stability and stabilization for nonlinear singular systems. First, the Lyapunov direct method and the existing results are extended to study the finite time stability of nonlinear singular systems, some sufficient conditions are given and the estimations of settling times are also derived. Then, a finite time control law for nonlinear singular systems is designed by using the extension of control Lyapunov function. Moreover, the continuity of the control law is also discussed by using the extension of small control property. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:Synthesis and designing of variable structure controller for time-variant linear time-delay singular system is studied. Firstly, a new restricted system equivalent form is developed and the system is decomposed into two low dimensional subsystems. Secondly, switching function with integral compensator is designed and sufficient conditions on asymptotic stability of the sliding mode are given. Thirdly, variable structure controller is designed, which guarantee the solution trajectory of the system arrive at the slide manifold in finite time. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate feasibility and simplicity of the design method.

Abstract:In this paper, the finite‐time simultaneous stabilization problem of two nonlinear singular time‐delay Hamiltonian systems is investigated. Firstly, the two general nonlinear singular time‐delay Hamiltonian systems are transformed into their Hamiltonian differential‐algebraic forms by equivalent transformation, respectively, they are then converted to two strictly dissipative Hamiltonian forms via the state feedback method, and two strictly dissipative Hamiltonian systems are extended into a Hamiltonian one. Based on which, a suitable Hamiltonian function is constructed to analyze the finite‐time simultaneous stability and finite‐time robust simultaneous stabilization problem. Finally, an illustrative example is given to show the effectiveness of the results obtained. It should be pointed out that since there does not exist a finite‐time stability criterion on the nonlinear singular delay system, we adopt a new double compound asymptotic method.

Abstract:The use of the sum of squares decomposition and semidefinite programming have, provided an efficient methodology for analysis of polynomial nonlinear systems based on Lyapunov function. This paper considers the stability analysis of polynomial nonlinear systems with affine parametric uncertainties. Both time jump and bounded time-varying rate cases for the uncertain parameters are considered. An iterative algorithm is proposed to design controllers to stabilize the systems. The rate of convergence for the closed loop systems is also estimated to optimize the control performance during the control synthesis procedure, and additional constraint is given to avoid great value control gains.

Abstract:Using the differential geometric control theory, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions under which an analytic affine nonlinear system with multiple inputs is equivalent to, via state transformation without feedback, a kind of extended Brunovsky canonical form. The proof is based on a new technique for applying the Frobenius Theorem in a more convenient way by converting a set of quasilinear partial differential equations with the same main portion to a set of homogeneous linear partial differential equations.

Abstract:This paper studies the synthesis and design problem of variable structure control for a linear discrete uncertain singular system with time-delays.Firstly,a new equivalent form of constrained system is developed and the system is decomposed into two low dimensional uncertain subsystems.Secondly,based on some results of the robust stability of discrete singular systems with time-delays,a switching function with difference compensator is designed,which guarantees that movement of the system is asymptotically stable in a quasi-switching manifold.Thirdly,a variable structure controller is designed,which can force the system trajectory either to arrive at the quasi-switching manifold in limited steps and ultimately slide to zero on the quasi-switching manifold or to enter into a small neighborhood of the quasi-switching manifold in limited steps and be convergent to a small chattering in the neighborhood.Finally,two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicability of the design method.

Abstract:This paper considered a simultaneous H∞ stabilization problem for a family of linear norm bounded uncertain systems. By using the LMI approach and dynamic state feedback theory, the necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the desired controller was obtained. The controller can be derived by a convergent iterative algorithm designed in the paper. Finally, a numerical experiment was performed to illustrate the proposed method.

Abstract:This paper investigates the robust stability of discrete-time singular systems involving nonlinear disturbance and mixed time delays. The mixed time delays are comprised of both discrete and distributed delays. The interval of discrete time delays can be divided into several subintervals, firstly. Then, in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI), a suitable state feedback controller is designed for discrete-time singular systems with nonlinear disturbance and mixed time delays, and the overall closed-loop system is regular, causal and mean square asymptotically stable. Numerical examples are provided to show the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed methods, and the results derived from our approaches are less conservative than existing ones. Abstract:Linear switched systems are an important class of hybrid dynamic systems. The controllability of linear switched systems and the necessary and sufficient criteria for the controllability of linear switched systems were studied by analyzing the performance of linear switched systems using nonsingular transformations. The controllability of linear switched systems was found to be invariant for any nonsingular transformation. Then, with the proper nonsingular transformation, the system state space could be decomposed into two parts which gave a new proof for a necessary condition for controllability of linear switched systems. Finally, an example is given to verify that the controllability is not changed by any nonsingular transformation.

Abstract:This paper revisits the decentralized stabilization problem for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems subject to strongly coupled uncertain interactions. As a main contribution, we show that, without any priori required restrictive nonlinear growth conditions, a C-1 condition of the nonlinear interactions is sufficient to derive a finite-time convergent decentralized stabilizing control law under a semi-global control objective. Another new feature is the adoption of a novel one step nonsmooth synthesis method which leads to a simple form of stabilizing control law with easily implementable gain tuning mechanisms. A numerical example and its simulation verification are provided to illustrate the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this paper, several different concepts of controllability are investigated for a class of linear singular systems which system parameters are piecewise constant. Necessary and sufficient geometric criteria for C-controllability and R-controllability of such systems are established, respectively. These conditions can be easily transformed into algebraic form. By applying the principle of duality, C-observability is discussed as well. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between these results and existing results are also discussed. Then, a novel necessary, and sufficient criterion for C-controllability of linear time-invariant singular systems is derived as a byproduct.

Abstract:The plants of complex dynamical systems consist of real part and imaginary part and there exits strong coupling between them. In this paper, the nonlinear robust controller is applied in the control of six typical complex dynamical systems expressed in differential equations. Two control schemes of the systems are designed. One scheme treats the real part and imaginary part of the complex dynamical systems as a whole to design a single-input single-output control system, another scheme independently deals with the real part and imaginary part to design a two-input two-output control system. The simulated results show that the nonlinear robust controller can achieve effective control for complex dynamical systems, and that the two control schemes can achieve same control performance on the premise of the same initial system states and controller parameters. © 2013 TCCT, CAA.

Abstract:Simultaneous stabilization of linear systems is a fundamental issue in system and control theory,and is of theoretical,as well as practical,significance.Current theories and recent developments in the simultaneous stabilization of linear systems are discussed.Firstly,the substance of the simultaneous stabilization of linear systems,the basic re-search methods and the related results are reviewed.Some well-known problems,including thechampagne problem,Belgian chocolate problemandWhiskey problemare analyzed from the perspectives of theoretical solution and controller design.Based on the development in automated inequality-type theorem proving,some original work on solving these open problems is also presented.Finally,possible future research directions for the simultaneous stabilization of linear systems are given.
