Abstract:In this paper, we consider global adaptive output-feedback control of nonlinear systems in output-feedback form, without a priori knowledge of system nonlinearities. Our proposed adaptive controller is a high-gain linear controller (since we have no knowledge on system nonlinearities), with the high-gain parameter tuned online via a switching logic. Global stability results of the closed-loop system have been proved.

Abstract:The problem of robust stabilizing a class of time-varying time-delay uncertain nonlinear systems is studied in this paper. The systems under consideration are nonlinear systems consisting of feedback linearizable nominal parts and norm-bounded nonlinear uncertain perturbations in states, time-varying time-delay states and control inputs. A sufficient condition for the robust stabilization of such systems is derived, then the sufficient condition is transformed into a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) problem. A robust controller, combining feedback linearization technique and quadratic stabilization via linear feedback, is developed such that the obtained closed-loop system is globally stable.

Abstract:The model error compensation method has been extended to stabilise a class of single-input single-output non-affine systems under two simple inequalities conditions. This extension is based on the careful design of the saturation function of control input which plays a key role in determining the local exponential stability and the attraction region. Two examples are presented to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

Abstract:Using the differential geometric control theory, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions under which an analytic affine nonlinear system with multiple inputs is equivalent to, via state transformation without feedback, a kind of extended Brunovsky canonical form. The proof is based on a new technique for applying the Frobenius Theorem in a more convenient way by converting a set of quasilinear partial differential equations with the same main portion to a set of homogeneous linear partial differential equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we design an adaptive iterative learning control method for a class of high-order nonlinear output feedback discrete-time systems with random initial conditions and iteration-varying desired trajectories. An n-step ahead predictor approach is employed to estimate future outputs. The discrete Nussbaum gain method is incorporated into the control design to deal with unknown control directions. The proposed control algorithm ensures that the tracking error converges to zero asymptotically along the iterative learning axis except for the beginning outputs affected by random initial conditions. A numerical simulation is carried out to demonstrate the efficacy of the presented control laws.
Optimal H∞ output feedback control for a class of nonlinear systems

Abstract:This paper discusses optimal H∞ output feedback control using linear matrix inequalities for a class of systems with sector bounded nonlinearities. A unified model, which is the interconnection of a linear dynamic system and a sector bounded static nonlinear operator, is proposed to describe these systems. Based on the H∞ performance analysis of the closed-loop systems including the unified model and output feedback controller, the parameters of output controller are determined not only to guarantee global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system without disturbances, but also to reduce the effect of external disturbance on the performance output to a minimal H∞ norm constraint. The nonlinear systems satisfying certain sector type constraints can be transformed into this unified model, and H∞ output feedback controllers are designed for these systems in a unified way. © 2013 TCCT, CAA.

Abstract:The necessary and sufficient condition under which an analytic affine nonlinear system with single-input being locally equivalent to a class of p-normal form via state transformation without feedback was presented. The presented verifiable conditions involved the vector fields obtained by some suitably chosen iterative Lie brackets of the vector fields defined in the system. The proofs were based on a new technique for applying the Frobenius theorem in a more convenient way by converting a set of quasilinear partial differential equations with the same main portion into a set of homogeneous linear partial differential equations. An example illustrates how to transform a nonlinear system into a p-normal form mentioned above without feedback using the necessary and sufficient condition.

Abstract:The design of state feedback H∞ controller is discussed for nonlinear discrete singular systems.By means of generalized Lyapunov function and linear matrix inequality(LMI),the asymptotical stability with zero solution is studied for the system,and a sufficient condition is given such that the system is asymptotically stable with zero solution and also a H∞ norm constraint.And a state feedback H∞ controller is designed to guarantee the performance of the resultant closed-loop system.A numerical example is given to illustrate the feasibility and validity of the conclusion drawn.
Tracking control of chaotic dynamical systems with feedback linearization

Abstract:A new method was proposed for tracking the desired output of chaotic dy- namical system using the feedback linearization and nonlinear extended statement ob- server method. The feedback linearization was used to convert the nonlinear chaotic system into linear system. The extended Luenberger-like statements observer was de- signed to reconstructing and observing the unmeasured statements when the tracking controller was designed. By this way, the chaotic system could be forced to track vari- able desired output, which could be a time variant function or an equilibrium points. Taken the Lorenz chaotic system as example, the simulation results show the validity of the conclusion and effectiveness of the algorithm.

Abstract:In this article, an extension of the ℒ1 adaptive control design is introduced for a class of non-affine Multi-Input Multi-Output nonlinear systems with unknown dynamics and unmeasured states. The system dynamics is represented in the normal form with the bounded-input-bounded-output internal dynamics. At first, a stable virtual reference counterpart is constructed. Thereafter, a piece-wise continuous adaptive law is introduced to the actual system along with a low-pass filtered control signal that allows for achieving arbitrarily close tracking of the input and the output signals of the reference system. Rigorous mathematical proof is provided, and the theoretical results are verified with the simulation.
A New Neural Network Model for the Feedback Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems

Abstract:A new neural network model termed ‘standard neural network model’ (SNNM) is presented, and a state-feedback control law is then designed for the SNNM to stabilize the closed-loop system. The control design constraints are shown to be a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be easily solved by the MATLAB LMI Control Toolbox to determine the control law. Most recurrent neural networks (including the chaotic neural network) and nonlinear systems modeled by neural networks or Takagi and Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models can be transformed into the SNNMs to be stabilization controllers synthesized in the framework of a unified SNNM. Finally, three numerical examples are provided to illustrate the design developed in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, the problem of global stabilization of a rather general class of MIMO nonlinear systems is addressed. The systems considered in the paper are invertible, have a trivial zero dynamics and possess a "normal form" in which certain multipliers are functions of the state vector of a special kind. While special structural dependence of such multipliers on the components state vector has been exploited before in the context of achieving stabilization (via full-state feedback, though), the novelty in the approach of this paper is that a peculiar structure is identified which happens to be intimately related to the property of uniform complete observability (thus making the design of observers possible) and to the property of uniform invertibility, relations never established before in the literature. As a result, for this class of MIMO nonlinear systems, a dynamic output feedback law can be designed, yielding semiglobal (and even global, under appropriate assumptions) asymptotic stability.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider input-affine invertible MIMO nonlinear systems which can be transformed into a special normal form by means of the structure algorithm. The normal form highlights a partial state, a subset of state variables, which plays in this setting a role similar to that of the outputs and its derivatives in a SISO system. It is shown that, if a system in this class can be asymptotically stabilized by means of a static feedback from that partial state, then semiglobal stabilization can be achieved via dynamic feedback driven by the output of the system. The dynamic feedback in question is based a (non–trivial) extension to MIMO systems of the standard high–gain observer.
Robust Output Feedback Stabilization of Multivariable Invertible Nonlinear Systems: A Feedback Linearization-Based Method

Abstract: This note studies the robust output feedback stabilization problem of a class of multi-input multi-output invertible nonlinear systems, for which an "ideal" state feedback based on feedback linearization can be designed under certain mild assumptions. By systematically designing a set of extended low-power high-gain observers, we show that this "ideal" linearizing feedback law can be approximately estimated, which provides a robust output feedback stabilizer such that the origin of the resulting closed-loop system is semiglobally asymptotically stable.

Abstract:In this article, we study feedback linearization problems for nonlinear differential‐algebraic control systems (DACSs). We consider two kinds of feedback equivalences, namely, external feedback equivalence, which is defined (locally) on the whole generalized state space, and internal feedback equivalence, which is defined on the locally maximal controlled invariant submanifold (i.e., on the set where solutions exist). We define a notion called explicitation with driving variables, which is a class of ordinary differential equation control systems (ODECSs) attaching to a given DACS. Then we give necessary and sufficient conditions for both internal and external feedback linearization problems of the DACS. We show that the feedback linearizability of the DACS is closely related to the involutivity of the linearizability distributions of the explicitation systems. Finally, we illustrate the results of the by an academic example and a constrained mechanical system.

Abstract:A feedback LPV control approach is proposed for a class of nonlinear matrix second order systems. With some assumptions satisfied, the nonlinear system can be converted into a Polytopic LPV system by the application of a nonlinear state feedback. Then the control law can be designed through LPV control techniques. The method is validated on a hub-beam system, which is first converted to the Polytopic LPV form by nonlinear state feedback. And the regional pole assignment is then considered for the resultant system via linear state feedback. Solution of the parameters of the controller is obtained by solving an LMI constrained convex optimization problem. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Input-Output Feedback Linearization Preserving Task Priority for Multivariate Nonlinear Systems Having Singular Input Gain Matrix

Abstract:We propose an extension of the input-output feedback linearization for a class of multivariate systems that are not input-output linearizable in a classical manner. The key observation is that the usual input-output linearization problem can be interpreted as the problem of solving simultaneous linear equations associated with the input gain matrix: thus, even at points where the input gain matrix becomes singular, it is still possible to solve a part of linear equations, by which a subset of input-output relations is made linear or close to be linear. Based on this observation, we adopt the task priority-based approach in the input-output linearization problem. First, we generalize the classical Byrnes-Isidori normal form to a prioritized normal form having a triangular structure, so that the singularity of a subblock of the input gain matrix related to lower-priority tasks does not directly propagate to higher-priority tasks. Next, we present a prioritized input-output linearization via the multi-objective optimization with the lexicographical ordering, resulting in a prioritized semilinear form that establishes input output relations whose subset with higher priority is linear or close to be linear. Finally, Lyapunov analysis on ultimate boundedness and task achievement is provided, particularly when the proposed prioritized input-output linearization is applied to the output tracking problem. This work introduces a new control framework for complex systems having critical and noncritical control issues, by assigning higher priority to the critical ones.

Abstract:It is concerned with L1-control of continuous affine nonlinear systems with prescribed exponentially convergent rate and performance by using set-valued analysis method.The concept of controlled λ-exponentially contractive set for the systems is introduced,and relation between the set and that for its Euler approximation discrete-time system is also established.For affine nonlinear continuous-time systems,a sufficient condition for the existence of static-state continuous nonlinear feedback for the L1-control problem is presented.The result extends to the one in reference in stability sense.
