Abstract:American linguist Krashen proposed the input hypothesis and affective filter hypothesis which has influenced linguistic world deeply. These two assumptions play an important role in improving learners’ language ability in the process of second language acquisition. Abstract:English listening plays an important role in daily communication and is a necessary procedure in the second language acquisition process, but at the same time it is also an obvious obstacle for college students learning English. According to Krashen’s affective filtering hypothesis, learning motivation, self-confidence and anxiety have a huge influence on learners’ listening learning process. Therefore, this paper uses Krashen’s affective filter hypothesis to explore the impact of affective factors on college students’ English listening learning, and proposes several related strategies to contribute to improving college students’ English listening ability.

Abstract:Krashen's theories of second language acquisition play a vital role in English teaching, in which "affective filter hypothesis" analyzes the influence of various affective factors on English learning. This paper focuses on Klashen's "affective filter hypothesis", analyzes the application of affective factors in the teaching practice of English grammar, and puts forward some teaching suggestions. The purpose of the study is to reduce the anxiety of the students in the second language grammar learning class, and then to find the most conducive state of English grammar learning, and to achieve the goal of English grammar teaching.

Abstract:The input hypothesis is the core part of Krashen’s language acquisition theory and is an important second language acquisition theory. The discussion of Krashen’s input hypothesis is of practical significance to current English teaching. In the application of English teaching, the research on Krashen’s input hypothesis focuses on its advantages, while the research on its disadvantages is rare. In such a context, this paper synthesizes both the advantages and disadvantages of Krashen’s input hypothesis in English teaching. It focuses on exploring the shortcomings to put forward specific suggestions to help English teaching. This paper summarizes the application of Krashen’s input hypothesis in English teaching and describes the concept of Krashen’s input hypothesis in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Based on these discussions, this study puts forward some concrete suggestions for English teaching. By adopting the principles of Input theory, teachers can design more effective teaching activities and provide richer language input, thereby facilitating students’ language acquisition.
The Influence of Krashen’s Input Hypothesis on Teaching College English Listening in China

Abstract:Listening is the main task in college English language teaching. Listening comprehension of English is also a big obstacle for English majors. Most college students consider listening comprehension to be the most difficult aspect and the weakest part in students’ English studying. Therefore, how to improve a college student’s listening comprehensive ability becomes a hot topic among English teachers. This paper explains Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, analyzes the current situation of listening courses in college in China, and the influence of Krashen’s Input Hypothesis on college English listening. Thus, the English teachers can arouse the student’s interest in learning English and improve their listening ability.

Abstract:Krashen’s second language acquisition theory is the most influential theory in foreign or second language learning. The input hypothesis is an essential hypothesis in his theory. The research and debate on input hypothesis never ends. This paper tries to explore the input hypothesis in the computer network environment. It detects computer and network technology can be applied to further explain the input hypothesis. The computer and internet have the function of assisting acquisition, providing enough comprehensible input and improving production ability. This discovery has further implication on improving the English learning in non-English speaking countries. Computer Assisted Language Learning has new demands on both national education investment and college education management; on both teachers and students.

In China’s high schools, it stands as one of the trio of core subjects, a testament to its pivotal role in today’s interconnected world. Yet, despite its undeniable importance, a subset of students grapple with the challenge of learning English and find themselves ensnared by the hurdles they encounter. Turning to the Affective Filter Hypothesis proposed by Krashen, we recognize that motivation to learn, self-confidence, and anxiety are pivotal elements that profoundly impact language acquisition. These three affective factors act as a filter that can either facilitate or impede language learning. This essay will delve into an analysis of an English struggling learner through the lens of Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis, aiming to unearth insights that may guide high school English teachers in supporting their students who face similar educational barriers. By understanding how affective factors influence language absorption, educators can better tailor their instructional strategies and foster an environment conducive to overcoming the linguistic challenges faced by these learners.

Abstract:This paper first studies the impact of social psychology on the teaching process. It discusses how teachers will stimulate learners' desire and interest in reading materials and guide their thinking. Teachers can make learners aware of their true intentions by means of various roles, including role switching, problem definition and feedback giving. At the same time, teachers can use the target perception training method to help learners relax and find the link between language and rhythm, so that learners can find their own personality. In addition, it discusses how to pay attention to the emotional factors and individual differences of students, increase their self-confidence and help them reduce their anxiety in English learning. Finally, this article discusses the implications of other studies for English teaching. For example, the theory of control and communication can be used as a guide in teaching practice. The teacher's output and students' feedback form a perfect closed loop control system to implement dynamic control of the English teaching process.

Abstract:In recent years, with the development of the research on the Output Hypothesis, many researchers and ChineseEnglish teachers have paid attention to this hypothesis. Since writing is considered to be a way of output on the fieldof second language acquisition, teachers in college have begun to apply Swain’s “Output Hypothesis” to teachingcollege English writing. It does work but still remains problems. Therefore, this paper will introduce the existingproblems of applying the output hypothesis on the writing class in our college, based on the interview byinterviewing six seniors majoring in English from different classes in our Foreign Language College. Also, this paperwill provide some suggestions on these problems existing in teaching college English writing.

Abstract:Listening is the foundation of English learning. Listening teaching is also an important part of English teaching classroom, a proper listening teaching method is considered to play an important role in advancing in listening apprehension. The listening teaching strategies in Chinese schools are still inadequate, lack of interesting and efficient, which makes students less productive. To achieve good teaching effect, we found that language input is essential, but the purpose of learning a language is to output, and sufficient input is beneficial to output, which is only possible when language input is greater than language output. Through the analysis of English teaching research in China and abroad, and based on Krashen's input hypothesis, Swain's output hypothesis, the current situation and problems of listening application teaching in Chinese schools, we suggest that teachers should combine listening training with other language skills to make output and input activities complement and promote each other.

Abstract:ABSTRACT The article briefly summarizes and then discusses Krashen's Input Hypothesis as presented in his Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition. The Input Hypothesis is considered both as a psycholinguistic and as a pedagogical model. I suggest that as a psycho‐linguistic model the Input Hypothesis fails to account convincingly for the widely accepted fact of fossilization (arrested L2 acquisition) in an acquisition‐rich environment. As a pedagogical model the Input Hypothesis may not be directly applicable to the reality of the U.S. high school or university foreign language classes, since these are so far removed from the immersion/second language environments on which much of the theory underlying the model is based.

Abstract:The present research sets its goal to identify the cause of the poor performance of adults’ English as foreign language (EFL) learners at the undergraduate level in the Department of English, University of Barishal, as well as to analyze the hypothesis that one of the major reasons behind the failure of the learners may be affective filters and whether the curriculum is a facilitator behind this. The basic intention was to look for answers to questions regarding whether adult EFL learners raise their affective filters to block the incoming input in academic scenarios and whether elements from the curriculum enhance the presence of these emotions among them. To this end, the researcher collected data through questionnaires, based on the experiences of learners in the classroom environment. The results obtained from the study show that there is an alarming presence of affective filters among the concerned learners and that a change in the classroom environment and curriculum might help learners lower their affective filters.

Abstract:Throughout the previous decades many theories have been suggested and applied for second language education. Their implementations have caused many debates among educators and linguists. They have come up with so many theories and approaches based on their perspectives of how languages are best learned. Among these theories are the one offered by Stephen Krashen, the renowned American linguist. This article sheds light on the main claims of the five hypotheses offered by Krashen; it presents some evaluations of whether these hypotheses offer any successful insights that can be incorporated into language teaching of different sittings and ends by concluding that Krashen’s hypotheses provide a comprehensive vision about understanding L2 learning and, therefore, exploiting their elements would be fruitful.
