Abstract:Concerning the nonlinearity,time-variant and imprecise model in the Variable Air Volume(VAV) air-conditioning systems,an adaptive variable discourse fuzzy control was proposed to improve the dynamic performance and accuracy of the control system.Based on derivation of VAV air-conditioning terminal model,simulation was conducted.The simulation results show that compared with the traditional PID control and conventional fuzzy control,variable discourse fuzzy control improves the system dynamic and static characteristics and steady state accuracy.Therefore,the fuzzy controller's performance has been greatly improved with good control effect.

Abstract:The setting curve and control method of internal temperature in trains are studied in this paper to achieve energy saving control for air conditioning systems. First, a model of interior temperature that considers the heat transmission from infiltration air is established according to the relationship between the equivalent leakage area for the train body and the pressure difference between the internal and external carriage. Second, the interior temperature setting curve, which changes adaptively with the ambient temperature, is established considering the energy consumption of air conditioning systems and passengers' thermal comfort. Finally, an adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) algorithm is proposed and applied to control the interior temperature according to the periodicity of train operation. In this paper, meteorological data from a typical meteorological year are used for simulation analysis. Simulation results show that the AILC algorithm can effectively track the interior temperature setting value and has a better control effect when the train runs on the same line repeatedly. Under the action of the AILC algorithm, the root-mean-square error is reduced to 0.069 °C in the third iteration. Furthermore, the energy saving for a single carriage in a single process reaches up to 1.534 kW·h, thus achieving energy saving control.

Abstract:Aiming at the lack of effective control strategies about a nonlinear, strong coupling and long time delay object--artificial climate chest, a new adaptive control method is proposed based on fuzzy theory. An improved fuzzy controller which can self-adjust parameters on-line is designed. Furthermore, it is proved that the control strategy in this paper is effective and superior with fuzzy set theory, multi-variable Fourier Transform and approximate theory by analyzing the essential model of fuzzy controller. Last, the results of experiments show that the method proposed in this paper can control temperature and humidity in artificial climate chest better. The results of this paper can be helpful in understanding fuzzy control more deeply and directing how to design fuzzy controller for complicated systems.

Abstract:The performance of heat pump air-conditioning system under heating conditions is studied, and a fuzzy control strategy is proposed. The heating condition model of the heat pump air conditioning system is built in AMESim, and the control strategy model is established by Simulink for joint simulation, with the cab temperature as the target temperature of the system performance. Compared with the traditional control strategy, the control strategy designed in this paper can rapidly increase the temperature of the passenger compartment to the target temperature, and the temperature control accuracy is more accurate, the callback time is shorter, and the comfort is better.

Abstract:The practical performance of the controller in the air-conditioning system is very important to the whole system. Although the traditional PID controller is widely used in a variety of industrial production situations and has achieved successful applications, it is only suitable for the analysis and design of the linear system, and it's unable for the analysis and design of the air-conditioning system which is time-delay and nonlinear. In this paper, a self-adaptive fuzzy PI control strategy is proposed to be used in the air-conditioning system. Simulation results and the practical control effect prove that the compound control structure possesses better performance than the conventional control method and satisfactory effects have been obtained.

Abstract:Air conditioning is an integral part of a moving train, and when it fails, it will affect passenger satisfaction and electrical safety on the train. By analyzing the principle and failure modes of the air-conditioning system of a certain type of domestic rolling stock, a fuzzy fault tree is constructed in this article, which has the 33 minimum cut sets, for further quantitative analysis. Then, according to the experience of relevant technical personnel and the analysis of air conditioning failure data, the occurrence probabilities of the bottom events are evaluated using the popular triangular fuzzy number. This fault tree can be analyzed quantitatively to find out the probability of the top event and the fuzzy probability importance of the bottom events. Accordingly, we can know the parts of the air-conditioning system of rolling stock that are relatively prone to failure. Through the verification and analysis of real data, it is proved that this is an effective method to locate the weak parts in the air-conditioning system, which can help to identify the possible failure modes and causes, and guide failure diagnosis and prediction of the air-conditioning system, as well as optimize the maintenance program.

Abstract:The purpose of the research in this article is to develop a pure electric vehicle air conditioner controller system based on the characteristics of pure electric vehicles; the method controls the temperature of the air conditioner by controlling the compressor without a DC motor without a position sensor, and introduces a new type of over-current detection circuit; A comparati ve analysis of the inlet and outlet pressure and temperature of the indoor and outdoor heat exchangers under three working conditions of -10°C, -5°C and 0°C verified the accuracy of the model. Then, based on the instantaneous and non-linear characteristics of the automobile air-conditioning system, a two-dimensional multi-output fuzzy control strategy is proposed.

Abstract:Vehicle thermal management system is expected to increase in-cabin thermal comfortableness in an energy-efficient way. Generally, the thermal management system operates to provide the desired comfort temperature under different driving conditions and ambient environmental conditions. In our study, the simulations of the air-conditioning system are performed to demonstrate the nonlinear dynamic process of in-vehicle temperature variation. Then, the air-conditioning system was optimized by using a fuzzy controller in order to improve its performance and energy efficiency. Results show that the air-conditioning system developed based on the fuzzy control method is an efficient method for vehicle thermal management.

Abstract:A multivariable fuzzy control strategy was proposed for the heat setting machine in post-procedure of printing and dyeing industry.In this strategy,the temperature field was controlled by means of three hierarchical subsections; each subsection was regulated with single fuzzy control loop so that the single loop temperature can be kept more precise.Based on this, a forward multivariable fuzzy controller was introduced for resolving the problems of subsections interference and temperature distributing uneven.Finally, the control strategy was completed in a real printing and dyeing process using SIEMENS PLC,the practical results show that the proposed approach is better than conventional PID approach.

Abstract:Automotive air conditioning (ACC) system designers faced unique challenges in satisfying customer demands for efficient and comfortable operation across a broad temperature range. The AAC system's effective or fixed temperature setting makes this possible. Many climate control models, like the state flow switching controller in MATLAB control, must handle heating and cooling due to a single Simulink/environment software and frequently contain steady-state error (SSE). The present research proposes to design an automatic temperature control scheme and fuzzy logic control (FLC) for an automotive air-conditioned (AAC) system. In addition, it employs MATLAB Simulink/environment software to model the fuzzy control technique to analyze the AAC system's response. A simulation has been set up to evaluate the suggested system performance to match a selection of user-specified reference temperatures and compressor speeds. Compared with a PID-controlled AAC system, the proposed FLC-based system reduced the undershoot to only 2.30% from 33.30% respectively, and was robust, quicker, and better at controlling temperature.

Abstract:A varied air volume (VAV) air-conditioning system comprises diverse input and/or output disturbances, which are commonly nonlinear, with large lag and uncertainty. Based on the traditional control methods, testing the controlling parameters of a VAV air-conditioning system is challenging. Sliding mode control could improve the robustness of the system due to the adaptive capacity of disturbance rejection. Moreover, the fuzzy algorithm could be employed to determine the stability of a sliding control system by adjusting the parameters in the approach rate, reducing the switching frequency, and weakening chatter. Fuzzy sliding mode control is investigated in this paper to improve the performance of a VAV air-conditioning system. Simulation results verify that the sliding mode control is suitable for a VAV air-conditioning system to achieve good adaptability and robustness considering the influence of multiple external variable disturbances. In addition, the chattering of the system is improved after the introduction of fuzzy control.

Abstract:Abstract In order to improve the comfort of the air conditioning system in the driver’s cabin of a high-velocity train and advance the distribution of air supply, a 3D simulation software is used to establish the model of the air supply pipeline of the driver’s cabin. The air flow field and the rationality of the air distribution are analysed accordingly. The results indicate that the structure of the air supply pipe is optimized and the air flow rate in the left and right air chambers is solved and air flow rate in each outlet of the air supply pipe are achieved.

Abstract:Conventional heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) controllers have been designed to mainly control the temperature of a confined compartment, such as a room or a cabin of a vehicle. Other important parameters related to the thermal comfort and indoor air quality (IAQ) of the confined compartment have often been ignored. In this project, IAQ in the vehicle cabin was represented by its carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration, and the occupants' thermal comfort levels were estimated with the predicted mean vote (PMV) index. A new fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was designed and developed using the MATLAB fuzzy logic toolbox and Simulink to provide a nonlinear mapping between the measured values, i.e., PMV, temperature, CO2, and control parameters (recirculation flaps, blower's speed, and refrigerant mass flow rate) of a vehicle HVAC system. The new FLC aimed to regulate both in-cabin PMV and CO2 values without significantly increasing overall energy consumption. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed FLC, a cabin simulator was used to mimic the effects of different HVAC variables and indoor/outdoor environmental settings, which represented the in-cabin PMV and IAQ readings. Results demonstrated that the new FLC was effective in regulating the in-cabin PMV level and CO2 concentration, at desirable levels, by adaptively controlling the opening and closing of the recirculation flap based on in-cabin temperature and CO2 readings, while maintaining an average-to-good energy consumption level. The proposed FLC could be applied to a large variety of HVAC systems by utilizing low-cost sensors, without the need to significantly modify the internal design of the HVAC system.

Abstract:The energy consumption of air-conditioning systems is a major part of energy consumption in buildings. Optimal control strategies have been increasingly developed in building heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. In this paper, a load forecast fuzzy (LFF) control strategy was proposed. The predictive load based on the SVM method was used as the input parameter of the fuzzy controller to perform feedforward fuzzy control on the HVAC system. This control method was considered as an effective way to reduce energy consumption while ensuring indoor comfort, which can solve the problem of hysteresis and inaccuracy in building HVAC systems by controlling the HVAC system in advance. The case study was conducted on a ground source heat pump system in Tianjin University to validate the proposed control strategy. In addition, the advantages of the LFF control strategy were verified by comparing with two feedback control strategies, which are the supply water temperature (SWT) control strategy and the room temperature fuzzy (RTF) control strategy. Results show that the proposed LFF control strategy is capable not only to ensure the minimum indoor temperature fluctuations but also decrease the total energy consumption.

Abstract:The underground ventilation and air-conditioning system of the station accounts for about 40% of the total energy consumption of the subway. One of the important reasons is the cooling load of the station. The related control process has typical nonlinear, time-varying, and large inertia characteristics, and the traditional PID control algorithm is difficult to achieve the ideal control effect. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the application of the intelligent algorithm in subway ventilation and air-conditioning control systems to improve the control effect. Based on the analysis of the coupling characteristics of temperature and humidity control in subway air-conditioning systems, this paper designs the feedforward decoupling link according to the identification model and analyzes the control curves with and without the decoupling link when using conventional PID control, which shows the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper.

Abstract:This study examines the concentrations of air pollutants in passenger carriages on a number of lines of the Beijing railway transit system differentiating between services with and without air conditioning. In-train air quality monitoring found PM10 concentrations are extremely high compared with other cities. Integrated factor assessment results show that the in-train air quality in the ground railway transit system where there is air conditioning is more acceptable than in the underground system.

Abstract:Thermal environment in the subway tunnels is of great importance to guarantee the operation safety of trainmounted Air Conditioner (AC). Most of the previous researches focused on the interval tunnel temperature, but in fact the air temperature in the station tunnel is higher than that of the interval tunnel since the piston wind is weaker and the heat release rate from the train is more intense. In this circumstance, studying the dynamic thermal process when a train stops in a subway station tunnel is both innovative and necessary. In this research, numerical simulation was adopted and then verified by field measurements. The model was built based on a typical island subway station and also the most widely-used form of train in China. We firstly analyzed the airflow and temperature distribution in the simulation domain. Then the dynamic process for AC condenser inlet air temperature were compared between the station with mechanical ventilation system and without mechanical ventilation system. The result indicates that the mechanical ventilation system helps to prevent the quick temperature increase when train stops in the station tunnel. Moreover, main factors including the form of airflow organization, Over Tract Exhaust (OTE) ventilation volume, and heat release rate of the AC condensers were analyzed. Further, the minimum required OTE capacity for different situations can be determined based on the correlations found in this research. For station tunnels with different dimension or train type, the methodology proposed in this research can be employed to improve the safety of subway trains.

Abstract:Indoor pollution is significant for many people since it has greater effects than outdoor pollution. Maintaining a healthy indoor environment is critical. Therefore, indoor environments are ventilated to reduce health risks and improve air quality. In these kinds of situations, automation to refresh surrounding environments is important because of the current fast-paced lifestyles of most people. The technique proposed in this paper automates and manages indoor temperature, humidity, and air quality. This is achieved by using an Arduino microcontroller with fuzzy logic integration. The air quality is measured by using an MQ-135 sensor, whereas the temperature and humidity of the indoor environment are tracked by using a DHT-11 sensor. These sensors transmit their readings to a microcontroller to set the ventilation speed for the indoor environment, which removes harmful gases and maintains acceptable temperature and humidity levels. The performance of the proposed system shows excellent results in controlling and monitoring air quality, temperature, and humidity compared with a previous version due to an increased range between the minimum and maximum values of the ventilation speed. Moreover, the ventilation DC motor of the fan in the proposed system runs at low speeds when necessary, which leads to lower power consumption compared to the previous version. This reduction is due to the membership function added to the ventilation speed of the fuzzy controller, which adapts the working time interval and room ventilation speed. A comparison of the new proposed system and previous version is conducted to identify the differences between the two and to highlight the effectiveness of the new model.
