Abstract:Dendritic polyamidoamines PAMAM of generation 1.0G, 2.0G, and 3.0G with ammonia and ethylenediamine cores are prepared by a divergent approach and their synthesis is described in brief. The dehydration rate (45℃, 90 min) by these dendrimers at dosage 150 mg/L for a stable O/W emulsion prepared from 5.0 g crude oil, 0.2 g OP-7 + DDBS, and 94.8 g distilled water increases with their generation and is higher by EDA-cored PAMAM (98%, 3.0G) than that by NH3-cored PAMAM (91%, 3.0G) .For the high water cut produced crude oil containing polymer and alkaline taken from the experimental team s gathering/treating plant of the 1st Daqing oil production factory, the hydration rate (45℃, 90 min) 84.6% and the oily substances content in the separated water 68 mg/L are observed with EDA-cored PAMAM of 3.0G at dosage 20 mg/L while similar dehydration rate is obtained with polyether demulsifiers SP169 and BP169 only at dosage 150 mg/L but the oily substances content as high as 356—370 mg/L is determined in the separated water in the later cases. The oil droplet rupture constant,k, determined by a single droplet method is increased with dosage and generation of the PAMAM used.It is believed that the demulsifying mechanisms are related with the spherical form of the dendritic macromolecules and the large amounts of polar amino functionalities on the surfaces of these spheres.
