Abstract:Due to the shortage of IPv4 addresses, many hosts are currently assigned to a single IPv4 address by using one or a number of NAT devices. However, numerous NAT devices cannot be upgraded for executing 6to4 due to technical and/or economic reasons. Solutions depending on Double Network Address Translation 64 are a good way to utilise shared IP4 addressing. Mapping of address and port using translation (MAP-T) is a technique that accomplishes double translation on Border Relay (BR) and customer edge (CE) devices. IPv4 and IPv6 forwarding, IPv4 and IPv6 fragmentation functions, and NAT64 translation functions are used by MAP-T. This enables increasing numbers of IPv6 in both clients and servers in order to possess the best defence against certain attacks, such as routing loop attacks, spoofing attacks, denial-of-service attacks. We have here proposed some procedures for creating frameworks and sustaining secure IPv6 networks according to applications, environs and architecture.

Abstract:This document discusses an extension of the algorithmic translation between IPv4 and IPv4-translatable IPv6 addresses. The extended address format contains transport-layer port set identification (PSID) which allows several IPv6 nodes to share a single IPv4 address with each node managing a different range of ports. This address format extension can be used for IPv4/IPv6 translation, as well as IPv4 over IPv6 tunneling.

Abstract:A Model of Hierarchical Mobile IPv6(HMIPv6) mobility management was proposed to solve the problem of mobile node's bad performance when performing local movement within a domain.A new entity,mobile anchor point(MAP),functioning like a kind of router,was introduced in HMIPv6,which could reduce signaling between mobile node and the nodes outside the MAP domain.The theory of handover within MAP domain was discussed in detail.To test and analyze the performance of handover improved by adopting HMIPv6,a HMIPv6 testbed and a Mobile IPv6 testbed whose phisical network toplogy was similar to HMIPv6 testbed were set up.The experimental results show that HMIPv6 can extraordinarily improve the performance of handover within MAP domain.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we focus on one of the most prominent IPv6 transition technologies, namely Mapping of Address and Port using Translation (MAP-T), and we give attention to Mapping of Address and Port with Encapsulation (MAP-E) as well. We emphasize the uniqueness of MAP-T and MAP-E, and we discuss the differences between those two technologies, including their topology, functionality, and security vulnerabilities. We apply a threat modeling technique, Spoofing, Tampering, Repudiation, Information Disclosure, Denial of Service, and Elevation of Privilege (STRIDE), to assess potential vulnerabilities in the MAP-T infrastructure. Furthermore, we build a testbed for MAP-T using the open-source software, Jool, and we conduct testing on the translation process capabilities of Jool and its port allocation per subscriber. Finally, we present various attacking scenarios against the main routers of MAP-T, such as IP address spoofing, information disclosure, and source port exhaustion, and we propose mitigation methods for several attacks.

Abstract:To achieve the data exchange between heterogeneous systems introduced by interoperability, the algorithms for model mapping in STEP are presented, which provide a methodology to the integration of CAx systems based on various application protocols of STEP. A formal definition of STEP/EXPRESS data model is introduced firstly. Based on this definition, two kinds of model mapping techniques for STEP, i.e. the static mapping and the dynamic mapping, along with the implementation by using EXPRESS-X mapping language are elaborated. Finally, a typical application of this technique in the open environment is addressed. Being independent of any specified system, the model mapping techniques presented in this paper achieve transparent integration between heterogeneous systems, which reduce the cost of information integration in system development.

Abstract:Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) has been proposed to support seamless handover among subnets in the next generation Internet. Providing QoS guarantee in such networks is a challenging task. In this paper we propose a scheme for QoS guarantee under Fast Handover for Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (F-HMIPv6) architecture. We extend certain handover messages to carry the QoS requirement of mobile node (MN) and enable mobility anchor point (MAP) or new access router (NAR) to make resource reservation on behalf of the MN in advance. Furthermore, only the reservation along the path between MAP and MN need to be re-established when the MN performs intra-domain handover. If the MN enters a new MAP domain, forwarding path through previous MAP and reservation along it would keep active until the MN completes binding update. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme provides lower signaling cost and reservation latency, as well as less bandwidth requirement than MRSVP.

Abstract:Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) has been proposed to support host mobility in the next generation mobile networks. With the development of various multimedia applications, the requirement for QoS guarantee in such systems is coming. In this paper we first present an overview of RSVP extensions for reserving resources in mobile networks. We divide existing researches into four aspects: management of resource reservation, re-establishment of reservation path, design of mobile agent and integration of RSVP and mobility management. For each scheme we describe the basic idea and make comments on the advantages and disadvantages. Then we propose a QoS guarantee scheme in Fast Handovers for Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6) architecture, using some mechanisms mentioned previously. Finally we draw the conclusion and present some future work.

Abstract:To facilitate research into IPv6 protocol, we propose IPMT in this paper, an IPv6 packet manipulation tool that allows rapid encode and decapsulation of IPv6 frames. IPMT offers capabilities of IPv6 packet manipulation, such as packet encapsulation, packet decapsulation, and packet trace. We mainly focus on IPv6 protocols because most popular network tools that are currently used don't support IPv6. We describe the main features of IPMT and demonstrate how the IPMT programming class enables users to easily develop portable IPv6 packet analysis tools without needing to consider the details of the capture format, file compression or intermediate protocol headers. Unlike other popular network tools, IPMT can almost decode all layers all at once. We divide IPMT into two modules and implement the tool and test the tool in a real test scenario to show that the tool works well. At the same time, we design a versatile way of storing decoding information result. As a result, we conclude that IPMT is a valuable contribution to the passive measurement community that will aid the development of better and more reliable IPv6 analysis and network monitoring tools.
A Three-Level Mobility Management Scheme for Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 Networks

Abstract:Performance evaluation shows that Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) cannot outperform standard Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) in all scenarios. Thus, adaptive protocol selection under certain circumstances is desired. Moreover, it is necessary to balance the load among different Mobility Anchor Points (MAPs). This paper proposes an efficient three-level hierarchical architecture for mobility management in HMIPv6 networks, in which a mobile node (MN) may register with either a higher/lower MAP or its home agent according to its speed and the number of connecting correspondent nodes (CNs). An admission control algorithm and a replacement algorithm are introduced to achieve load balancing between two MAP levels and among different MAPs within the same MAP level. Admission control is based on the number of CNs but not MNs that an MAP serves. In case there is no capacity for an MN, the MAP chooses an existing MN to be replaced. The replaced MN uses the MAP selection algorithm again to choose another mobility agent. Simulation results showed that the proposed scheme achieves better performance not only in reducing the signaling overhead, but also in load balancing among different MAPs.

Abstract:IPv4 addresses will be soon exhausted while more and more users are pouring into the Internet. It is commonly understood that IPv6 is definitely necessary for connecting new users, but lack of resources in current IPv6 world discourages providers from developing their IPv6 market. Address and packet translations are considered necessary for Internet content resources migrating from IPv4 world to IPv6, but up to now there is no one translation approach scalable enough. We understand the scalability is essentially restricted by the states in routing and those in translation, and accordingly we propose a novel architecture, called IVI, where IPv6 subscriber addresses are mapped from IPv4 with a certain rule that keeps IPv6 routing table well aggregated and makes translation stateless at all. Moreover, we introduce multiplex into the mapping to accommodate the trend of IPv4 addresses being more and more precious. Analysis based on real traffic data proves that the proposed approach is feasible to be deployed by an ISP for its customer networks and the potential degradation in end-to-end performance is acceptable.

Abstract:According to the China IPv6 Development Report, with the exception of some large internet companies, private small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are very slow to transform into IPv6, and more and more SMEs are migrating their business to the cloud. For cloud service providers, high-throughput IPv4/IPv6 conversion should be completed. In 2014, Nick MCKEOWN proposed programmable protocol-independent packet processors (P4). Implementation of mapping of address and port with encapsulation (MAP-E) offloading technology on P4 switches, that is, offloading the IPv4/IPv6 conversion task to P4 switches, improves the flow forwarding rate and reduces the pressure on the core server. At the same time, the P4 language supports custom switch processing logic, so that there is no need to purchase new equipment when the protocol version is updated and iterated, which reduces future IPv4/IPv6 upgrade and operating costs.
