Abstract:It is not new that the national college entrance mathematics examination paper combined in arts and sciences. Since 1980s, some provinces and cities tried to but failed to combine mathematics in arts and sciences, and their experience and lessons are worth learning. There are three main reasons for the long existence of the“old”national college entrance mathematics examination divided in arts paper and science paper. First, the division of arts and sciences has an institutional basis. Second, different majors in colleges and universities have different requirements for mathematics. The third is the practical need of guiding middle school mathematics teaching. The difficulties faced by the new national college entrance mathematics examination divided in arts paper and science paper, are similar to those in the past, which highlights the problems of fairness and efficiency. The diversity and selectivity are the future development direction of the new national college entrance mathematics examination, which not only solves the realistic dilemma but also meets the needs of The Times. According to the new college entrance mathematics examination implementation environment, the short-term goal can adopt the path similar to the old national college entrance mathematics examination divided in arts paper and science paper, by slightly set the new national college entrance mathematics examination to two levels of difficulty in mathematics 1 and mathematics 2.

Abstract:China plays an important role in the global basic education of mathematics. Moreover, China has a lot of educational experience and methods and trains many excellent talents in the field of mathematics. However, there are still various disadvantages in the process of mathematics teaching. The traditional exam-oriented education makes the talent thought of mathematics education lack openness. Teachers also focus on difficult problems, partial questions, and exam questions during teaching. When teaching, teachers cannot contact students' daily life, which has low value. Mathematics teaching methods are too rigid and lack attraction. Most teachers focus on contents in textbooks while students cannot understand the value of mathematics in learning. This results in the decline of most students' interest in mathematics courses. To solve this problem, mathematical modeling teaching is put forward. China has a short application time in this field, and mathematical modeling is complex and systematic. When dealing with mathematical modeling problems, we must be able to skillfully use the basic knowledge learned and also involve the knowledge of other disciplines, so we must realize the integration of the knowledge of various disciplines. In addition, mathematical modeling teaching attaches great importance to students' communication ability, mathematical interpretation ability, and teamwork ability. Teachers can improve students' ability; however, our teachers' abilities in mathematical modeling teaching are uneven and there are no relevant standards. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an evaluation index system to accurately judge teachers' abilities. Based on this, this study uses the Delphi AHP method to construct the evaluation index system and selects four criteria level indexes and 12 index level indexes to judge teachers' mathematical modeling teaching ability.

Abstract:In the first part of this paper we will introduce the activity of “Chinese Middle School Mathematical Modelling Competition” from 1997–2000. The activity consists of three parts:We offer some open mathematics application problems and let some students bring them to go home and use three days to solve them by using any tools and references. We translate some problems from Chinese into English. Many problems are very open, that means that according to analysis of real situation students can give some models to solve them. We’d like to say that students enjoy this kind of problems very much.To ask some students to complete a little papers in which the students need to find some problem in their real life and to use their mathematics and subject knowledge and methods to solve them. It is very surprises to us that we receive more than 4000 papers of students some of that are very excellent. We are very glad to introduce some papers of students in our talk.To ask some students to complete an examination of mathematics application problems. We will give some examples. There are more than 70000 students which attend the activity and they are very glad to enjoy it.

Abstract:The combination of mathematics and physics with medicine is one of the difficulties in medical education. This paper analyzed seven factors that restricted the combination of mathematics and physics with medicine in current medical education, and explored classroom teaching methods including highlighting key knowledge, problem-guided teaching, logical deduction and experiment and so on in Clinical Application of Medical Device, a course particularly for medical students. In the end, it is concluded that the above methods have improved students' ability of comprehensive application of knowledge, logical thinking and problem-solving, and improved teaching quality. Also, this paper discussed teaching methods to improve the level of the course combining mathematics and physics with medicine.

Abstract:Mathematical modeling literacy is one of the six core literacies in high school mathematics and occupies an important place in the objectives of the high school mathematics curriculum. "The core element of mathematical modeling literacy is to abstract mathematically from real problems, express them in mathematical language, and construct models to solve them with mathematical methods. The STEAM education concept has received much attention in the education field because of its effective integration of "science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics" in the practice of education and teaching, which not only makes up for the shortage of traditional teaching in knowledge inquiry, but also helps to improve the problems of traditional classrooms. This paper explores the development of mathematical modeling literacy in high school by drawing on the STEAM education concept, and examines the effectiveness of the integration of the two through specific teaching cases.

Abstract:Based on the guidance of the State and Sichuan Province’s Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development Plan (2010-2020), and the needs of economic construction in Sichuan Province and the western region, and on the basis of fully investigating of bilingual teaching models and methods at home and abroad , this paper studies the mathematics ability and foreign language level of the “ international ” talents needed by China’s social economy. To meet this demand, some reform proposals are designed, such as the university mathematics curriculum system, bilingual curriculum teaching mode, after-school supervision and assessment methods, and the combination of discipline competition. This reform proposal lays the foundation for improving the quality of undergraduate teaching and cultivating innovative talents who can be integrated with the international community.

Abstract:Abstract Mathematical application plays an irreplaceable role in various scientific fields, especially in engineering technology and economic management. Mathematics is the basic subject of nine-year compulsory education, which occupies a large proportion on quality education in China. Mathematics learning is undoubtedly very important for engineering college students. If the university mathematics teaching integrates the mathematical modeling thought, the student will be more convenient to study the abstruse mathematics question. This method can effectively improve the teaching efficiency and students’ interest. At the same time, with the development of science and technology, computer technology has provided a lot of convenience for our study work, and the active use of computer-assisted technology in teaching can greatly improve the efficiency of education. Based on this, this article discusses the function of mathematical modeling and uses computer-aided technology to analyze the existing problems in mathematical teaching. Finally, the paper puts forward the innovative reform method of mathematics teaching.

Abstract:Introduction: Mathematical modeling has become a crucial competence in mathematics education in many countries and regions due to the increasingly complex real-world problems that students face in the 21st century. Previous research has shown that mathematical modeling contributes to the development of students' creativity, particularly with respect to stimulating and protecting the curiosity of children. However, previous studies have not explored or examined the relationships among middle school students' mathematical modeling competency, curiosity, and creativity based on data drawn from large-scale assessments and have not investigated the influence of teachers' teaching methods in this context. Methods: This study used convenience sampling to select 4,531 seventh-grade students from eastern and western, urban and rural areas in China. Online tests and questionnaires were used to measure their mathematical modeling competency, curiosity, creativity and guided inquiry teaching, and a moderated mediation model was used to analyze the effect of mathematical modeling competency on creativity. Results: The results showed the following. (1) There are statistically significant differences between boys and girls in terms of their mathematical modeling competency, curiosity, and creativity. Specifically, boys score significantly higher than girls on these variables. (2) Creativity exhibits a statistically significant positive correlation with mathematical modeling competency, curiosity, and guided inquiry teaching. (3) Curiosity mediates the relationship between mathematical modeling competency and creativity, and guided inquiry teaching moderates the influence of curiosity. In high-level guided inquiry teaching classes, curiosity has a stronger influence on creativity, and it mediates the relationship between mathematical modeling competency and creativity more strongly. Discussion: This study empirically verified the influence of mathematical modeling competency on creativity and provided a possible way to cultivate children's creativity. Future research should use longitudinal analysis to verify the causal relationship between mathematical modeling competency and creativity and to systematically explore the possible path by which mathematical modeling competency affects creativity.

Abstract:This paper's focuses on how to design and implement a high school mathematical modeling class under the STEAM concept. STEAM, as an international emerging talent cultivation concept, can cultivate students' interdisciplinary cooperation and innovation ability, and it overcomes the shortcomings of the current mathematics class in China, which is less practical, and uses the knowledge of multiple disciplines to solve practical problems in the form of integrated practical activities. Using the case study method, the author compiled the design ideas and several important aspects of mathematical modeling projects under the STEAM concept, and made three suggestions for the integration of mathematical modeling and STEAM.

Abstract:Abstract With the development of computer, computer application technology has been widely penetrated into various industries. Among them, MATLAB is a commercial mathematical software, which is second to none in mathematical science and technology application software. In this paper, the mathematical modeling strategy is studied by MATLAB software. Mathematical modeling is an effective mode of cultivating mathematical thinking, which is of great significance to the cultivation of students’ logical thinking ability. The strong practicality of mathematical modeling cultivates students’ innovative consciousness, the diversity of problems cultivates students’ innovative ability, and the interdisciplinary nature enhances students’ innovative knowledge reserve. This paper first analyses the role of mathematics education in cultivating innovative thinking, and then puts forward effective strategies for developing mathematical modeling activities. It is hoped that the idea of mathematical modeling can be better integrated into the mathematics teaching in Colleges and universities.

Abstract:The primary motivation of this study is to investigate whether there are any differences, and what they are, between the mathematical modelling skills of secondary and tertiary students entering a highly academic university in China. With this aim in mind, we used a multiple-choice question instrument, which has been extensively used in experimental studies in various countries, to assess students' modelling skills. Two tests, each consisting of six questions, were conducted with approximately 200 first-year students from Tsinghua University. The first test was carried out as the students entered the University, and the second test was carried out at the end of the first semester after an introductory unit in mathematical modelling. Statistical analyses were conducted to compare the differences in the results of these two tests.
