Abstract:Software-defined vehicles have been attracting increasing attentions owing to their impacts on the ecosystem of the automotive industry in terms of technologies, products, services and enterprise coopetition. Starting from the technology improvements of software-defined vehicles, this study systematically combs the impact of software-defined vehicles on the value ecology of automotive products and the automotive industrial pattern. Then, based on the current situation and demand of industrial development, the main challenges hindering the realization of software-defined vehicles are identified, including that traditional research and development models cannot adapt to the iterative demand of new automotive products; the transformation of enterprise capability faces multiple challenges; and many contradictions exist in the industrial division of labor. Finally, suggestions are put forward to address these challenges and provide decision-making recommendations for enterprises on strategy management.

Abstract:This study takes the "New Silicon Valley" Hangzhou to discuss the relationship about the resources and development. The resource-based view provided a systematic approach for analyzing the role of Hangzhou in terms of its potential sustained competitive advantage in technology development. In this study, we suggest that each resource can enhance the technology development, but the potential of each resource should not be viewed in isolation. Two intervening variables are talents and capabilities. We not only integrate three resources, but also study at their interface. Thus, we put forward eight propositions include the interplay, isolated impact and combined affect.

Abstract:The new technological revolution is promoting the intelligent upgrade of vehicles. Traditional vehicles are gradually developing into intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). New features such as autonomous driving, smart cockpits, and Internet of Vehicle of ICVs have brought users safe, comfortable and interesting travel experiences. Vehicle software, containing a wealth of functions and continuously outputting valuable data, has become the core of the definition of vehicle functions. Traditional vehicle hardware has gradually decoupled from software and become standardized, modular and shared resources. At present, the era of Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) is coming soon, which is bound to bring subversive changes to both vehicle technologies and industrial ecologies. However, the lack of comprehensive understanding and the clear development way of SDV are ubiquitous in all kinds of corporations in vehicle industry. This will make them be caught off guard when SDV really comes. Therefore, this paper firstly carefully sorted out the key elements and industry development trends of SDV and divided SDV into three development eras. Next, it described the ideal architecture of SDV and identified and analyzed key elements of SDV, which are about the on-board operating system, the control architecture, the role and development trend of hardware and the relationship remodeling among original equipment manufacturers, first grade suppliers as well as information communication and technology companies under the trend of SDV. At last, it predicted the changing trend of vehicle industrial division and give some suggestions for different companies to assist them to make full preparation for the trend of SDV.

Abstract:Recent years have witnessed numerous technical breakthroughs in electronics, computing, sensing, robotics, control, signal processing, and communications. These have significantly advanced the state of applications of intelligent transportation systems. More recently, as one leading effort toward the cyber-physical-social system, the concept of intelligent transportation spaces was proposed to further improve the vehicles, traffic, and transportation safety, efficiency and sustainability. ITSp integrate not only various ITS modules, but also pedestrians, vehicles, roadside infrastructures, traffic management centers, sensors, and satellites. With distributed and pervasive intelligence, ITSp clearly impose some stringent requirements on the information exchange among all entities within the ITSp, in terms of the information availability, reliability, fidelity, and timeliness. These requirements, together with the high mobility of vehicles and the highly variable network topology, make the communications and networking for ITSp very challenging. This article will introduce the concept of ITSp and analyze possible communication technology candidates for ITSp. Further discussions will also be provided at the end of this article.

Abstract:IoV (Internet of Vehicles) is a promising paradigm to the future of automobiles, which will undoubtedly boost the automobile market as well as accelerate innovation in Internet services and applications. The concept of SD-IoV (Software Defined IoV) is presented, which is capable of improving resource utilization, service quality, and network optimization in the harsh vehicular network environments. First, A generalized SD-IoV architecture as an intuitive big picture is presented. Then, the major functions realized by SD-IoV are elabrated on to illustrate how the current challenges are resolved. As the key enablers of SD-IoV, three possible implementation methods of the wireless control path are described and compared. Finally, the challenges and existing solutions of SD-IoV are disuessed and open issues are pointed out so as to shed light on future research.

Abstract:The application of reconfigurable intelligent surfacess (RIS) in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is rapidly progressing, with a focus on intelligent signal manipulation, adaptive channel estimation, and real-time reconfiguration to optimize communication performance. While RIS technology holds significant potential for improving connectivity in IoV and vehicle settings, its fixed configuration falls short in meeting the dynamic demands in IoV. To address the diverse requirements of IoV services, including stringent safety norms, societal acceptance, and cost efficiency, this article proposes a parallel surfaces system to facilitate service-oriented V2X communications for autonomous vehicles. By harnessing artificial models of the physical RIS-assisted IoV system, conducting extensive computational experiments, and parallel execution, the proposed system enables real-time monitoring, predictive analysis, and optimization. Parallel intelligence empowers efficient and adaptable channel estimation, configuration, and energy management, thereby establishing a more intelligent and secure RIS-assisted IoV infrastructure. In addition, the parallel surfaces system encompasses descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive intelligence in IoV for addressing coverage gaps, enabling hotspot offloading, facilitating multiple antenna signal transmission, and enhancing high-precision positioning.

Abstract:Purpose - The rapid development of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (ICVs) has boomed a new round of global technological and industrial revolution in recent decades. The Technology Roadmap of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (2020) comprehensively analyzes the technical architecture, research status and future trends of ICVs. The methodology that supports the roadmap should get studied. Design/methodology/approach - This paper interprets the roadmap from the aspects of strategic significance, technical content and characteristics of the roadmap, and evaluates the impact of the roadmap on researchers, industries and international strategies. Findings - The technical architecture of ICVs as the "three rows and two columns" structure is studied, the methodology that supported the roadmap is explained with a case study and the influence of key technologies with proposed development routes is analyzed. Originality/value - This paper could help researchers understand both thoughts and methodologies behind the technology roadmap of ICVs.

Abstract:Over the last few decades, automotive embedded Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems have been used to enhance vehicle performance and enrich peopleâ's driving experience, increasing the panel of software features within them. However, even though until now automakers have kept up with the innovation pace in terms of the functionalities that have been offered to passengers, the majority of automakers' efforts have concentrated on bringing in these new functionalities by adding an unceasingly larger set of ECUs. All of this has been done without evolving any of the embedded software architecture consequently, due to budgetary constraints, legislative limitations, retro-compatibility problems, and a lack of awareness of the trending IT innovation. This unbalanced progress has then led to a substantial increase in in-vehicle architectural complexity, which has become a major concern for automakers nowadays as it makes the vehicle repairing process more complex, decreases software traceability and clashes with the objective of having higher business flexibility, modularity, and dynamicity within the vehicles. In this paper, we are going to go through literature, both academic and industrial, and propose a comprehensive study into automotive system transformation. We begin by giving a detailed analysis of the causes of evolution under five axes - i.e., society, business, industry, application, and technical. Then, we discuss the convergence of cars and software life cycles and propose a three-layered analysis of automotive ICT systems consisting of architecture design, software pipelines, and run-time management. Finally, we are going to propose certain detailed guidelines on the evolution perspectives for automotive systems through deriving from the convergence of advances in IT, as well as current and future automotive environmental constraints.

Abstract:Intelligent connected vehicles(ICVs) are believed to change people’s life in the near future by making the transportation safer,cleaner and more comfortable. Although many prototypes of ICVs have been developed to prove the concept of autonomous driving and the feasibility of improving traffic efficiency, there still exists a significant gap before achieving mass production of high-level ICVs. The objective of this study is to present an overview of both the state of the art and future perspectives of key technologies that are needed for future ICVs. It is a challenging task to review all related works and predict their future perspectives, especially for such a complex and interdisciplinary area of research. This article is organized to overview the ICV key technologies by answering three questions: what are the milestones in the history of ICVs; what are the electronic components needed for building an ICV platform; and what are the essential algorithms to enable intelligent driving? To answer the first question, the article has reviewed the history and the development milestones of ICVs. For the second question, the recent technology advances in electrical/electronic architecture, sensors, and actuators are presented. For the third question, the article focuses on the algorithms in decision making, as the perception and control algorithm are covered in the development of sensors and actuators. To achieve correct decision-making, there exist two different approaches: the principle-based approach and data-driven approach. The advantages and limitations of both approaches are explained and analyzed. Currently automotive engineers are concerned more with the vehicle platform technology, whereas the academic researchers prefer to focus on theoretical algorithms. However, only by incorporating elements from both worlds can we accelerate the production of high-level ICVs.

Abstract:The intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) concept represents the commanding heights of prospective automotive product shape and technology, which will pose significant impacts on the value-chain of future automotive industry, especially in China. The development of ICV will also provide the Chinese automotive industry with a strategic opportunity for transformation and upgrading. Currently, the government and enterprises have increased investment in the research and application of ICV. A detailed study in the development of ICV in the PRC can have theoretical implications for exploiting the future automotive value-chain. From the perspective of value-chains, this article analyses ICV's significant impacts on the new industrial value-chain and its essential features, according to the latest practical cases in China. On this basis, suggestions of upgrading paths are proposed for different categories of Chinese enterprises from the dimensions of process, product and functional upgrading.

Abstract:This article discusses the current status and review of innovations in traffic management, as well as future developments. Automotive radar has evolved from the first studies in this direction to future systems. The future of fossil and other fuels in the automotive industry, reuse of automotive software, from changes in product management software to trend analysis and survivability systems in Simulink vehicle models, turning data-driven green space into the electrification of the future and automotive systems. A secure e-architecture framework is mentioned. Agricultural machinery design information according to ISO 11783 is specified. Including security-oriented development and ISO 26262. At the C-ITS and security conference, smart transportation cooperation, vehicle connectivity and security, V2X security, smart transportation and software topics were introduced. The article concludes with a discussion of future trends of electric vehicles powered by network connectivity, solar power, and battery technology, as well as new technologies, future models, and issues in today's automobile design. Innovation and Development Strategies of China's New-Generation Smart Vehicles Based on 4S Integration

Abstract:The new-generation smart vehicles are intelligent network terminals that integrate smart vehicle, smart transportation, smart city, and smart energy (i.e., 4S integration). They move flexibly to connect the flow of people, materials, energy, and information of a city, and have more strategic values than traditional vehicles. This study aims to clarify the significance in developing the newgeneration smart vehicles based on 4S integration, determine the technology path for the innovative development of the new-generation smart vehicle industry, and establish a novel technology system by summarizing relevant key technologies. The new-generation smart vehicles based on 4S integration is an upgrade of smart vehicles in terms of value, function, and technology. China should select a smart vehicle technology path considering vehicle infrastructure cooperation to acquire the leadership in scientific and technological innovation. To establish the technology system of the new-generation smart vehicles based on 4S integration, the automation and connectivity levels of vehicles should be coordinated simultaneously, and common basic technologies such as big data, cloud computing, information, and communications should be promoted, together with the core key technologies related to vehicles, roads, and cloud. Furthermore, we propose suggestions from the aspects of top-level design, industrial integration, technological innovation, and practical implementation, hoping to provide theoretical references for long-term development of China’s smart vehicle industry.

Abstract:This paper utilizes a game theory model to investigate the interplay of cooperation and competition between smart vehicle companies (the incumbents) and traditional vehicle companies (the entrants) in the intelligent connected vehicle industry. The results show that technology sharing emerges as a critical factor in improving business performance and driving market expansion. Additionally, the collaborative endeavors of competitive firms, coupled with consumer involvement, play a crucial role during the value co‐creation phase of new products, significantly impacting company efficiency and consumer satisfaction. Drawing on case studies such as Tesla further corroborates our management insights.

Abstract:The state-of-the-art and technical trends of intelligent and connected vehicle (ICV) are illustrated.The ICV system architecture included the value chain,technology chain and industrial chain.The four stages of ICVs were the advanced assistance,connected assistance,cooperative automation and highly/fully automated driving.Some key technologies of ICVs were introduced such as environmental perception,decision making,dynamical control,human-machine copilot,V2X communication and platform,cyber security.Therefore,China should develop the ICV industry rely on the top-down design by using the national institutional advantages because the ICV will be an important direction of the automotive technology in the future,and the ICV development is a great opportunity for the transformation and upgrading of China's automobile industry.

Abstract:The current age is witnessing speedy revolution of vehicles from the hundred-year old moving metal box on four wheels into a new species with dazzling intelligence. To enable such intelligence, the nervous system heavily hinges upon the connectivity among vehicles as well as between vehicles and the transportation infrastructure. With such intelligence, humans would be relieved from the driving duties and naturally convert the vehicle into moving offices or entertainment rooms, thus imposing unprecedented burden to the connectivity to the world beyond the vehicle. Due to the mobile nature of vehicles, wireless naturally becomes the rescue. However, though wireless has been, to some extent, deployed on vehicles for more than half a century, the current wireless-vehicle interactions are, to the best, a mere combination, in which the wireless systems are designed accounting for the mobile environment, but do not have much to do with the vehicle core functions. In this paper, we will discuss the challenges, progresses and perspectives of the present-to-the-near-future vehicular wireless channels, wireless-vehicle combination, as well as the more demanding wireless-vehicle integration.

Abstract:In the context of a new round of scientific revolutions, the complicated and austere international political environment, and the domestic economy under a difficult transformation have brought unprecedented challenges to China. The government, industries and enterprises have reached a consensus on the issue: "continuous promotion of innovation is the only way to break through". However, the practice of innovation has brought far more challenges than expected. In technological innovation, for example, the existing issues and bottlenecks are directly impacting the national scientific and technological output and transformation of achievements. This paper, based on the author’s understanding of and thoughts about an enterprise’s R&D, analyses innovative connotations in a new era, scientific and technological innovation concept development and analysis, and the status quo, and analyses the reasons for scientific and technological innovation development. Using cases in the Chinese automotive industry, this paper provides advice on promoting the sustainable development of scientific and technological innovation capability.
