Abstract:With the development of nonlinear vibration isolation theory, a vibration isolation method of quasi -zero stiffness (QZS) has received more and more attention. It can achieve high-static and low-dynamic stiffness characteristics, bear large loads, and isolate low-frequency vibration. A QZS mechanism consisting of monolithic flexible curved beams is proposed in this paper. And a four-point constraint method (FPCM) is also proposed to design the monolithic flexible beams with cubic spline characteristic. Then, a static model of flexible beams was established to investigate the force-displacement relation, and the flexible beam configuration with QZS characteristics was developed by parameter design. Compression tests on the prototype demonstrate that the cubic spline curved beams achieve the QZS characteristics. The frequency sweep test of the prototype under displacement excitation within 3 mm shows that the initial vibration isolation frequency of the QZS isolator is about 3 Hz, and 90 % of the vibration isolation effect can be achieved at 4.58 Hz. Further vibration tests confirm that the proposed QZS vibration isolator achieves low-frequency isolation of 5.0 Hz for multi-loads in the plus or minus 16.5 % of the theoretical load. The QZS isolator with monolithic flexible beams opens a new avenue for lowfrequency vibration isolation.
