Abstract:Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes with active methylene compounds such as malononitrile, ethylcyanoacetate, benzimidazol-2-acetonitrile and benzothiazole-2-acetonitrile proceeded very smoothly, catalyzed by nano-Fe3O4 encapsulated-silica particles supported primary amine. Both reaction time and yield are satisfying. The advantages of this catalyst are ease of preparation, non-toxicity, low cost, ease of handling and recyclability.

Abstract:Research on the synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has gained great importance among synthetic chemists because there have been numerous reports of their biological and medicinal activities. In this respect, we fabricated CuCl 2 immobilized on Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles modified with 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-diol [Fe 3 O 4 @Diol/Phen-CuCl 2 ] and investigated its catalytic activity for the preparation of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives through one-pot three-component reaction of 2-aminopyridines, aldehydes and terminal alkynes under ecofriendly conditions. FT-IR spectroscopy, EDX, SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, VSM and ICP-OES techniques employed in order to identify the structure of the as-constructed Fe 3 O 4 @Diol/Phen-CuCl 2 nanocatalyst. This catalytic system has a series of advantages such as the synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine products with high yields in suitable time, performing the reactions in an environmentally friendly solvent (PEG), easy preparation of the catalyst with a simple method, and the recyclability of the Fe 3 O 4 @Diol/Phen-CuCl 2 nanocatalyst.

Abstract:This research report the development of an eco-friendly, magnetic nanocatalyst, Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 -ABHA-CuCl, for the efficient synthesis of diaryl sulfides incorporating imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine scaffolds. The catalyst was successfully prepared by immobilizing CuCl on magnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles modified with 4-amino-3-hydroxybenzoic acid. Characterization revealed spherical nanoparticles with a size range of 15-30 nm. The catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic activity in promoting C–H bond sulfenylation of imidazopyridines using the green solvent PEG-400. Remarkably, the catalyst demonstrated exceptional recyclability over eight consecutive cycles without significant loss of activity. Comprehensive analysis confirmed the preservation of the catalyst's magnetic properties and structural integrity after repeated use.

Abstract:Diaryl sulfides are known as valuable intermediates in the production of various useful compounds, including antibacterial, antifungal, anti-ulcer and anti-hypertensive agents. In this paper, we developed a new and ecofriendly nanomagnetic catalyst for the synthesis of diaryl sulfides containing imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine, benzoazole, pyrimidine and oxadiazole scaffolds through C–H bond sulfenylation of imidazopyridines. Fe3O4@AMBA–CuI nanocatalyst was successfully constructed through the immobilization of CuI on the surface of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles modified with 3-amino-4-mercaptobenzoic acid (AMBA). FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, EDX, TEM, XRD, VSM, EDX elemental mapping and ICP-OES techniques were applied to characterize the structure of the as-fabricated Fe3O4@AMBA–CuI nanocatalyst. Recycling of the Fe3O4@AMBA–CuI nanocatalyst was performed up to eight times without significant loss in activity; VSM and ICP-OES techniques confirmed that the stability and high magnetic nature of recovered catalyst.Graphical Abstract

Abstract:The preparation of cube‐shaped CuFe2O4 nanoparticles via the hydrothermal method in the presence of Lantana camara flower extract to use them as catalysts to synthesize propargylamine derivatives is reported. A3 coupling reaction is a multicomponent reaction (MCR) involving aryl aldehydes, phenyl acetylenes and amines to synthesize a variety of biologically active propargylamine derivatives. Herein, we report the preparation of cube‐shaped CuFe2O4 nanoparticles (NPs) via the hydrothermal method in the presence of Lantana camara flower (LCF) extract to use them as catalysts to synthesize propargylamine derivatives. X‐ray diffraction study confirms the formation of CuFe2O4 NPs with cubic spinel structures. In the presence of LCF extract, cube‐shaped CuFe2O4 NPs are formed predominantly irrespective of the type of alkali used as the hydrolyzing agent. However, a mixture of nearly spherical and cube‐shaped particles has been formed in the absence of additives. The synthesized CuFe2O4 NPs exhibit superparamagnetic behaviour and are magnetically ordered. The synthesized cube‐shaped CuFe2O4 NPs exhibit excellent catalytic activity in the A3 coupling reaction between benzaldehyde, piperidine and phenylacetylene to give propargylamine with a yield of 90% under the optimum conditions. The catalyst is highly stable and magnetically retrievable facilitating reusability for up to five cycles without considerable loss of catalytic activity. The protocol is suitable for the synthesis of a diverse range of propargylamine derivatives with moderate to excellent yield.

Abstract:The embedding of metal nanoparticles (NPs) in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has attracted a wide range of attention in the field of catalysis due to the high agglomeration resistance of NPs in MOFs. In this work, a Cu(II)-based MOF with the formula {[Cu-1.5(TPA)(BIBT)]4DMF6H(2)O]}(n) (1) (H(3)TPA = tris(4 '-carboxybiphenyl)amine; BIBT = 4,7-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole; and DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide) was synthesized under solvothermal condition. Structural analysis revealed that Cu-MOF 1 possessed 3-fold interpenetrated three-dimensional (3D) coordination frameworks with large one-dimensional (1D) channels along the a-axis. Due to the interaction between Ag and S/N, Ag NPs could be encapsulated into the pores of Cu-MOF 1 to generate Ag NPs and MOF composites, xAg/1 (x = 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, and x was the molar ratios of AgNO3 with Cu-MOF 1 in the synthesis), which was further demonstrated by powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, energy dispersive spectrometer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. In addition, synthesized 0.5Ag/1 exhibited outstanding catalytic activity for the A(3)-coupling reaction of aldehyde, alkyne, and amine with high recyclability. This work presents a viable strategy for using Cu(II)-based MOF loading with Ag NPs as heterogeneous catalysts for the A(3)-coupling reaction.

Abstract:A compatible system involving N‐chlorosuccinimide (NCS) as the chlorine source and Cu@CuFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) as recyclable catalysts was explored. We present a novel and practical method for directly obtaining aryl α,α‐dichloro/bromoketones in aqueous trifluoroethanol (TFE). The catalyst was recovered and reused up to five times with no significant decrease in activity. In this study, novel Cu@CuFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by virtue of a simple method. By utilizing a compatible system involving N‐chlorosuccinimide (NCS) as the chlorine source and Cu@CuFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) as recyclable catalyst, we present a novel and practical method for directly obtaining aryl α,α‐dichloroketones in aqueous trifluoroethanol (TFE). The catalyst was recovered and reused up to five times with no significant decrease in activity. The current study provides a foundational raw material for the subsequent synthesis of chlorinated functional molecules, which is achieved through a mild transformation of arylalkynes using readily available commercial feedstocks and exhibiting good tolerance with various substituents on the aromatic ring, including the aliphatic alkyne. This novel heterogeneous catalyst may be used in numerous industrial applications because of its merits, such as considerable recyclability, low requirement for catalyst loading, cost‐effectiveness, and ease of handling.

Abstract:The prepared copper iodide nanoparticles were impregnated on the support of ferrite nanoparticles functionalized with polyaniline, resulting in a magnetically recoverable heterogeneous nanocomposite. The activity of the prepared nanocomposite was investigated in the synthesis of propargylamine derivatives via A3 coupling under mild conditions. Techniques such as FESEM, EDAX, XRD, XPS, TEM, BET and FTIR were used to characterize the effective and unique heterogeneous Fe3O4/PANI/CuI nanocomposite developed in this work. This method used in the current study has several advantages, including a short reaction time, neat conditions, good product yield, ideal green matrices values, reusability for up to seven cycles, and magnetic retrievability.

Abstract:Imidazopyridine and pyranopyrazole derivatives include a very important class of heterocyclic compounds that have many biological properties and have been observed in the structure of many drugs and bioactive molecules. In this research project, we first successfully made copper catalyst immobilized on magnetic iron nanoparticles modified with dopamine and 1 H -benzo[d]imidazole-2-carboxylic acid (as magnetic ligand) and confirmed its structure with a series of spectroscopic techniques; then in the next step, the catalytic activity of this nanocomposite [Fe 3 O 4 @Dop/Amide-BenzImid-CuBr 2 ] was evaluated the nanocomposite in the multicomponent synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine and pyranopyrazole derivatives. The results clearly showed that this magnetic nanocatalyst in water solvent under reflux conditions is a very efficient catalytic system for the synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines and pyranopyrazoles because all the products were synthesized with high to excellent yields in a suitable period of time. Also, the recovery tests confirmed that the Fe 3 O 4 @Dop/Amide-BenzImid-CuBr 2 catalyst can be reused up to 8 times without significantly reducing its catalytic efficiency. VSM and ICP-OES analyses confirmed the stability, magnetism and high efficiency of the catalyst after repeated use of the catalyst.

Abstract:Studying diaryl sulfides and benzothiazoles is important in organic synthesis because numerous natural and medicinal products contain these scaffolds. Over the past few years, research on the synthesis of compounds containing benzothiazole-sulfide aryls, as important biological molecules, has received significant attention. Multicomponent reactions are the most popular strategy for performing difficult reactions and the synthesis of complexed molecules such as benzothiazole-sulfide aryls. In this work, CuI was successfully immobilized on the surface of magnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles modified with aniline and 4-aminobenzoic acid [Fe 3 O 4 @ABA-Aniline-CuI nanocomposite] and its catalytic activity was investigated in the preparation of a broad range of benzothiazole-sulfide aryls and heteroaryls through the one-pot three-component reactions of 2-iodoaniline with carbon disulfide and aryl or heteroaryl iodides in the presence of KOAc as base in PEG-400 as solvent. TEM and SEM images revealed that the shape of the Fe 3 O 4 @ABA-Aniline-CuI particles is spherical and the size of the particles is approximately between 12–25 nanometers.

Abstract:In this method, we presented an attractive and efficient methodology for the preparation of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)one derivatives through Biginelli reaction of aromatic aldehydes, 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea or thiourea in the presence of Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 -AP/Diamine-Cu(II) nanocomposite as a novel magnetically recoverable catalyst in ChCl-Urea as green solvent. The Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 -AP/Diamine-Cu(II) nanocatalyst was constructed by simple method via available materials and its structure was well identified by several analysis. Under this method, a wide range of aromatic aldehydes with electron-donating and electron-withdrawing substituents on the benzene ring were evaluated in these reactions, and in all cases the products were synthesized with very high yields. The presented method has a series of noteworthy features, which can be mentioned as follows: synthesis of products with very high yields, reaction in ChCl-Urea as a green solvent, applicability of the catalytic system for a wide range of aldehydes, simple preparation of catalyst, simple separation of catalyst, high reusability of catalyst, good identification of catalyst structure and synthesized products.

Abstract:Cysteine plays a crucial role in the development of an efficient copper-catalyst system, where its thiol group serves as a strong anchoring site for metal coordination. By immobilizing copper onto cysteine-modified, polydopamine-coated magnetite particles, this advanced catalytic platform exhibits exceptional stability and catalytic activity. Chemical modification of the polydopamine (PDA) surface with cysteine enhances copper salt immobilization, leading to the formation of the Fe3O4@PDA-Cys@Cu platform. This system was evaluated in palladium-free, copper-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reactions, effectively catalyzing the coupling of terminal acetylenes with aryl halides. Additionally, the Fe3O4@PDA-Cys@Cu platform was employed in click reactions, confirming the enhanced catalytic efficiency due to increased copper content. The reusability of the platform was further investigated, demonstrating improved performance, especially in recyclability tests in click reaction, making it a promising candidate for sustainable heterogeneous catalysis.

Abstract:A copper magnetic nanocatalyst was facilely synthesized by surface modification of silica magnetic nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 ) via reaction with 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 @APTMS), followed by a subsequent reaction with thiophene-2-carbaldehyde to form a Schiff base (Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 @SB). Sequentially, reaction with Cu(CH 3 COO) 2 ·H 2 O in ethanol yielded Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 @[SB@Cu] (CH 3 COO) 2 . This nanomagnetic catalyst was comprehensively characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM) techniques. The catalytic proficiency of these nanoparticles was evaluated through alkene and alcohol oxidation reactions. Under optimized conditions, the nanocatalyst exhibited significant efficacy in oxidizing styrene, cyclohexene, and benzyl alcohol, with notable selectivity values of 88 %, 100 %, and 100 % for the respective formation of styrene epoxide, 2-cyclohexene-1-one, and benzoic acid. The heterogeneous copper nanocatalyst offers advantages, including high conversion rates, facile separation, and exceptional selectivity in alkene and alcohol oxidation. Additionally, this study investigated density functional theory (DFT) methods, encompassing geometric optimization, natural charge analysis, molecular electrostatic potential maps, and vibrational normal modes of the chelating ligands.
