Abstract:Mixed magnetic bearing system (MMBS) has a complex non-linear. Firstly, this paper analyzes MMBS according to the principle and a mathematical model is established. And then a sliding mode variable structure control (SMVSC) method is presented, which bases on non-linear system. Compared with the traditional PID control method, SMVSC has good stability and robustness. At the same time, it can rapidly achieve system balance within a short time and has a strong inhibitory effect to interfering signals. Simulation results show the effectiveness and practicability of the algorithm. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract:A compact flywheel energy storage system assisted by axial-flux partially-self-bearing permanent magnet motor has been proposed by the authors. The proposed machine combines axial magnetic bearing and motoring functionality into a single magnetic actuator, which not only spins the rotor-flywheel but also generates a levitation force to overcome the gravity. The mathematical model of the levitation force and stiffness of the active magnetic bearing are developed. The relationships between the stiffness and the key motor parameters are studied. High stiffness can be achieved for the special motor design. The derived force model is validated by finite element analysis. The control system of the levitation force is designed and experimental setup is built. The test results prove the correctness of the mathematical analysis and feasibility of the designed control system.

Abstract:On the base of ANSYS software,the analysis system of suspending force of electromagnetic bearing is introduced.The effect of non-linear characteristics of magnetic material and structure parameters on electromagnetic bearings are analyzed in this sysem,and the comparison of characteristics of radial electromagnetic bearing and electromagnetic thrust bearing have been made,the results show that the optimizing design of the electromagnetic bearing can be conveniently made by using this system.

Abstract:Magnetic-Liquid Double Suspension Bearing(MLDSB) uses double support form-hydrostatic pressure support and electromagnetic Suspension.While its support capacity and stiffness can be improved sharply,the operation stability of MLDSB can be impacted by some factors which affect the stability of its support system operation.The operation stability of single DOF support system of MLDSB is analyzed and corrected in this paper.Firstly,this paper introduces the structural features and support adjustment mechanism.Secondly,based on force balance equation,electromagnetic equation and flow equation,the transfer function of single DOF support system of MLDSB is deduced,and its support stability is analyzed.The research shows that the existence of the right pole of the single DOF support system is the main reason for instability of the system.Finally,the stability of single DOF support system is corrected using the root locus method and the frequency method and tested by Matlab software.We show that the operation stability and the dynamic quality of the corrected support system is improved greatly.The research in this paper can provide the theoretical reference for the structure design and performance analysis of MLDSB.

Abstract:A magnetic suspension linear feed device has been introduced in this paper, it is consist of linear motion and suspension parts. The mathematical model of suspension system is modeled. Aiming at the suspension part which is an nonlinear and strong coupling system, the auto-disturbance rejection controller (ADRC) is used. The inner disturbance and outside disturbance is observed and compensated, the result of simulation indicates the suspension control A magnetic suspension linear feed device has been introduced in this paper, it is consist of linear motion and suspension parts. Abstract:This paper presents a 3 degrees of freedom magnetic bearing (3-DOF MB) with toroidal radial control coils. By using the toroidal coils, the proposed structure reduces the copper loss but increases the copper usage of the radial control coils. The variation is mainly related to the stator length, pole width, and yoke width. The overall structure is symmetrical about the radial stator in the axial direction, and the cross-coupling effect between the radial and axial directions can be restrained. A magnetic circuit (MC) model is built to design the structure parameters. The force characteristics calculated by the MC model and 3-D finite-element method (FEM) verify the rationality of the design. The influence of the control currents and displacements of other directions on the force characteristics are analyzed by the 3-D FEM, and the weak cross-coupling effect of the proposed 3-DOF MB is confirmed. The accuracy of the MC model and 3-D FEM is validated by the prototype experiments.

Abstract:In this paper, a control strategy based on the inverse system decoupling method and μ-synthesis is proposed to control vibration in a rigid rotor system with active magnetic bearings that are built into high-speed motors. First, the decoupling method is used to decouple the four-degrees-of-freedom state equation of the electromagnetic bearing rigid rotor system; the strongly coupled and nonlinear rotor system is thus decoupled into four independent subsystems, and the eigenvalues of the subsystems are then configured. The uncertain parametric perturbation method is used to model the subsystem, and the multi-objective ant colony algorithm is then used to optimize the sensitivity function and the pole positions to obtain the optimal μ-controller. The closed-loop system thus has the fastest possible response, the strongest internal stability, and the best disturbance rejection capability. Then, the unbalanced force compensation algorithm is used to compensate for the high-frequency eccentric vibration; this algorithm can attenuate the unbalanced eccentric vibration of the rotor to the greatest extent and improve the robust stability of the rotor system. Finally, simulations and experiments show that the proposed control strategy can allow the rotor to be suspended stably and suppress its low-frequency and high-frequency vibrations effectively, providing excellent internal and external stability.

Abstract:In this research, the sliding mode control is introduced to solve the dynamic analysis of rotor system supported by active magnetic bearings (AMB) with the inherently unstable, nonlinear and strong coupling characteristics. Firstly, the rigid rotor-bearing system model is built. By linearizing the magnetic of AMB about the operating point, a four-degree of freedom rotor system supported by the radial AMB is established. Furthermore, to consider the effects of the magnetic thrust bearings on the lateral vibration of the rotor, a five-degree of freedom rotor system model is presented. Secondly, the sliding mode controller of rotor system is configured. Based on the rotor system model, switching function of the sliding mode controller is designed by the quadratic regulator so that the sliding mode controller is asymptotically stable and the sliding motion has good quality. The input of the control system is designed by the exponential reaching law to satisfy the reaching condition and to reduce the buffeting in control process. Finally, the simulation results show that the rotoru0027s quick adjusting and steady levitating is achieved and the controller presents good dynamic performance and strong robustness.

Abstract:For the vibration suppression of active magnetic bearing (AMB) supporting high-speed flywheel rotor system,an internal control method based on modal separation and state feedback was presented.In the control method,the translational modes and conical modes of AMB flywheel-rotor system were decoupled by modal separation firstly,then the conical modes were further decoupled by state feedback,so that the AMB flywheel rotor system with four coupled degrees of freedom was transformed into a system with four independent single degrees of freedom.Finally,the system with four independent single degrees of freedom was regulated by internal model controller,to achieve good control performance.The stability,object tracking capability and robustness of the internal control system based on modal separation and state feedback were analyzed in theory,and its ability and effectiveness to control the vibration of AMB high-speed flywheel rotor system was further investigated by simulations and experiments.It is shown that the translational modes and conical modes are decoupled,and the two conical modes are also decoupled in the proposed control method.The control method proposed can achieve stable suspension and effectively suppress the vibration of AMB high-speed flywheel rotor system,and has the advantages of strong anti-interference,good robustness,simple structure,and easy regulation.

Abstract:Nowadays, the development of traction motors of high speed train require highly to the bearing's performance. Magnetic-fluid bearing, as a new kind bearing with so many advantages we need, has got lots of attention. And the key problems of Magnetic-fluid bearing are lubrication and reliability. In this paper, we focus on the temperature field problems which influence the lubrication performance as well as the bearing's reliability. Series of models in different sizes are built. Comparing different results, the influence caused by different sizes and different eccentricity is shown at the end. The high-temperature zone becomes much hotter when the eccentricity becomes larger and the fundamental parameters also change the results. Furthermore, the cavitation is also under consideration. These results provide a basis for the further design of the Magnetic-fluid bearing.
Sliding Mode Control Based on Linear Quadratic Regulator for an Active Magnetic Bearing Flexible Rotor Virtual Collocated System

Abstract:For an active magnetic bearing (AMB) flexible rotor system, a sliding mode control (SMC) method based on linear quadratic regulator (LQR) was proposed in this paper. The finite model of a flexible rotor system was developed. In order to deal with the non-collocation between the sensors and the bearings, a state observer by using state space method is used to estimate displacements at active magnetic bearings' locations with the displacements at corresponding sensors' locations. Furthermore, a sliding mode controller was designed for this multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) virtual collocated system. The optimal gain matrix of the state observer and the sliding mode controller's parameters were solved by linear quadratic regulator method. Finally, simulation analysis results of static and dynamic performance shown that the method proposed in this paper was effective.

Abstract:：In order to actively control the bearing force transmissibility in active magnetic bearings supporting rigid rotor systems, the components of bearing force transmissibility are analyzed, two control algorithms for the bearing force transmissibility, i.e., zero current control algorithm and zero transmitting force control algorithm, are proposed based on the synchronous rotor position component identification method with a real-time variable step size polygonal iterative seeking algorithm, the effectiveness of the control algorithms to actively control the bearing force transmissibility are numerically studied, some experiments are carried out in a high-speed magnetically suspended flywheel energy storage system to verify the effectiveness of the control algorithms.The results from numerical simulations and experiments show that the zero current algorithm can control most of the bearing force transmissibility, but the zero transmitting force algorithm can completely remove the bearing force transmissibility. Abstract:On the basis of the current sheet model, a new analytical solution for permanent magnet (PM) bearings is developed. Compared with analytical methods based on the coupling energy model and the magnetic dipole model, the proposed one is more physically intuitive and convenient for engineering designers. According to the analytical model, the thrust characteristics of a novel PM thrust bearing is studied and verified by finite element analysis (FEA). In the proposed thrust bearing configuration, the rotor is composed of stacked PM rings with alternative axial magnetization directions, and the stator with alternative radial magnetization directions while copper rings are used to separate adjacent PM rings. A prototype PM thrust bearing with the proposed configuration is designed and fabricated. The performances of the PM thrust bearing are experimentally validated. It is shown that the calculation accuracy of the presented analytical solution is satisfying.

Abstract:In an idle light-load or a full-load condition, the change of the load mass of a suspension system is very significant. If the control parameters of conventional control methods remain unchanged, the suspension performance of the control system deteriorates rapidly or even loses stability when the load mass changes in a large range. In this paper, a real-time adaptive control method for a magnetic levitation system with large range of mass changes is proposed. First, the suspension control system model of the maglev train is built up, and the stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed. Then, a fast inner current-loop is used to simplify the design of the suspension control system, and an adaptive control method is put forward to ensure that the system is still in a stable state when the load mass varies in a wide range. Simulations and experiments show that when the load mass of the maglev system varies greatly, the adaptive control method is effective to suspend the system stably with a given displacement.

Abstract:This paper presents a state feedback decoupling control strategy for an active magnetic bearing (AMB) highspeed flywheel rotor system. The most important aspect of the proposed strategy is to design an appropriate state feedback decoupling control law that ensures that the input and output of the controlled system exhibit a one-to-one relationship. Research indicates that the state feedback gain matrix $K$ already contains sufficient information to enable arbitrary configuration of the eigenvalues of the controlled system, which is usually an 8th order system. Simulations show that this strategy transforms the four coupled radial channels of the AMB high-speed flywheel rotor system into four independent channels. Arbitrary assignment of all the poles on the complex plane makes it easier to design various controllers and achieve both good control performance and good internal stability. The example presented at the end of the article illustrates the practicability of this control strategy.

Abstract:In this paper, the overall design of magnetic levitated thrust bearing experiment table was completed, of which the main experimental parameters those are electromagnetic parameters and structural dimensions were determined, in addition, the joint debugging and deformation measurement are performed. Analysis results showed that theoretical value, ANSYS simulation results and experimental results were similar, which said that it is feasible to perform stiffness check of the thrust collar on the experiment table.

Abstract:Magnetic bearings have a series of excellent qualities, such as no friction and abrasions, high speed, high accuracy, and so on, which have fundamentally innovated traditional forms of support. In order to solve the problems of the large volume, low power density and high coupling coefficient of three-pole magnetic bearings, a six-pole AC active magnetic bearing is designed. Firstly, the basic structure and working principle of a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) six-pole active magnetic bearing is introduced. Secondly, a suspension force modeling method of a 2-DOF AC active magnetic bearing based on the Maxwell tensor method is proposed, and the mathematical model of active magnetic bearing is established. Considering the fact that AC active magnetic bearing is essentially a nonlinear system, a fuzzy active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) method is designed based on fuzzy control and ADRC theory. Its control algorithm and control block diagram are given, and the fuzzy ADRC method is simulated and verified. Finally, the control block diagram of an experimental system based on the 2-DOF six-pole active magnetic bearing is given, and the experimental platform is constructed. The experimental results show that the mechanical and magnetic circuit structure of the 2-DOF six-pole active magnetic bearing is reasonable, and the fuzzy controllers can realize the stable suspension of the rotor.

Abstract:In this paper, the magnetic suspension technology is used in the gantry-moving type numerically controlled machine tool to solve the friction problem of the gantry-moving type numerically controlled machine center. Because the suspension control system of in the gantry-moving type numerically controlled machine tool is a very low stiffness of the nonlinear system, and which is constantly influenced from the external disturbance and the perturbation of the parameters itself in the process, which seriously affects the precision of the system precision. In this regard, the paper uses the robust control design H^, controller that can improve the stiffness of the suspension system. Simulation results show that this control scheme has better stability and robustness, and meets the high stiffness of the magnetic processing system performance requirements.
