Abstract:Permanent magnet biased radial-axial hybrid magnetic bearing possesses complicated structure, which makes the design and analysis difficult. In this paper, the permeances of each part of the flux path including the leakage permeance are analyzed thoroughly by considering the geometry structure and the distribution of air gap flux. Then the relatively precise mathematical model of the hybrid magnetic bearing is deduced. Based on the mathematical models of the hybrid magnetic bearing, a prototype hybrid magnetic bearing is designed, and the calculation formulas of magnetic suspension forces, the force-displacement coefficients and the force-current coefficients are deduced. Finally, the design and analysis of the prototype hybrid magnetic bearing was verified by 3D electromagnetic finite element method.

Abstract:The modeling process of multiphase PMSM variable speed system was expressed in detail based on analyzing the characters of system.Furthermore,the two closed loops control modulation system for the six phase PMSM based on field oriented control were established.Some engineering problems for multiphase PMSM variable speed system also have been discussed,and the circuit of sampling,protection,and fault disposal were designed,moreover,the software of interrupt handling and fault diagnosis were designed.Finally,the simulation result proved the veracity and feasibility of modeling and algorithm above.The hardware circuit was also designed.

Abstract:Mixed magnetic bearing system (MMBS) has a complex non-linear. Firstly, this paper analyzes MMBS according to the principle and a mathematical model is established. And then a sliding mode variable structure control (SMVSC) method is presented, which bases on non-linear system. Compared with the traditional PID control method, SMVSC has good stability and robustness. At the same time, it can rapidly achieve system balance within a short time and has a strong inhibitory effect to interfering signals. Simulation results show the effectiveness and practicability of the algorithm. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract:To improve the stability and disturbance rejection for the suspension system for a bearingless motor of per- manent magnet type,a mixed sensitivity robust control strategy is proposed based on the operating principle of suspension system.The controller is designed by selecting the appropriate sensitivity and complementary sensitivity weighting func- tions.The suspension control system for the bearingless motor with rotor flux orientation is also implemented on the basis of proposed controller.Simulation results show that the performances of the proposed controller are superior to those of the traditional PID controller with the robustness in modeling the system and disturbances.The validity of proposed algorithm is also effectively evaluated by experiment study.

Abstract:In this paper an integrated mathematic model of a permanent magnet-type bearingless motor (PMBLM) with all coupling factors among the torque winding, suspending winding and rotor movement considered was proposed and the main parameters associated with this new model was precisely determined. Through the simulation based on this integrated model, the stable suspension operation of PMBLM is well achieved. Compared with the results simulated by the traditional mathematical model, the integratity and accuracy of the integrated model had been thoroughly verified.

Abstract:The radial repulsion type passive bearing by parallel axially magnetized don′t need to be controlled in the radial,can reduce the difficulty of control in the magnetic suspension rotor system. However,it doesn′t only provide the repulsive force in the radial,but also an axial thrust.So the active axial bearing and passive radial bearing is coupled.In this paper,a digital PID controller was designed for the radial passive axial active mixing magnetic bearing (HMB).And the design process of the control parameters was analyzed.Meanwhile,the software and hardware of the controller was developed.Experiment results show that the HMB is out of control,and digital controller is effective partially.

Abstract:A hybrid foil-magnetic bearing is combination of a foil bearing and a magnetic bearing, which takes advantages of both bearings while compensating each other the weaknesses. It is a solution of friction and wear of foil bearings at low speeds and limited load capacity of magnetic bearings. Furthermore, load sharing and control of dynamics can be achieved in a hybrid foil-magnetic bearing. However, in the hybrid foil-magnetic bearing, the journal should run at certain eccentricity and attitude angle in order to take part of the loads, but the magnetic bearing would attempt to force the journal to the reference position at all times while using a conventional PID controller. Therefore, it is necessary to design a new control algorithm to overcome the contradictions. In this paper, the steady-state characteristics of a hybrid foil-magnetic bearing were analyzed. Then a searching algorithm was presented and a steady-state controller was designed to determine the steady-state working position of the hybrid foil-magnetic bearings. Finally, simulations were done to verify performances of the searching algorithm and designed steady-state controller, and the results show its validity.

Abstract:Because permanent magnet biased magnetic bearing is a kind of complex control system,and has obvious nonlinearity,general linear control method can't achieve good effect.So,considering the working characteristic of permanent magnet biased magnetic bearing,a method of equivalent current is used to build nonlinear model first.Then,considering dynamic and static response characteristics,a mixed control strategy combining fuzzy PD with linear PI is presented,and the mixed fuzzy controller is designed according to fuzzy control theory.Lastly,the result obtained by simulation example confirms that the dynamic and static response characteristics of permanent magnet biased magnetic bearing is good and the control system has robust performance by applying the mixed fuzzy controller.

Abstract:The simulation model of magnetic field orientation vector control system for permanent magnet syschronous motor(PMSM) was established based on the theory of math model of PMSM under the ABC and dq coordinate systems.The simulation and experimental test were carried out to show that this modeling method and control algorithm were effective.It provided a base for software and hardware design of an actual PMSM.

Abstract:In this paper, a control strategy based on the inverse system decoupling method and μ-synthesis is proposed to control vibration in a rigid rotor system with active magnetic bearings that are built into high-speed motors. First, the decoupling method is used to decouple the four-degrees-of-freedom state equation of the electromagnetic bearing rigid rotor system; the strongly coupled and nonlinear rotor system is thus decoupled into four independent subsystems, and the eigenvalues of the subsystems are then configured. The uncertain parametric perturbation method is used to model the subsystem, and the multi-objective ant colony algorithm is then used to optimize the sensitivity function and the pole positions to obtain the optimal μ-controller. The closed-loop system thus has the fastest possible response, the strongest internal stability, and the best disturbance rejection capability. Then, the unbalanced force compensation algorithm is used to compensate for the high-frequency eccentric vibration; this algorithm can attenuate the unbalanced eccentric vibration of the rotor to the greatest extent and improve the robust stability of the rotor system. Finally, simulations and experiments show that the proposed control strategy can allow the rotor to be suspended stably and suppress its low-frequency and high-frequency vibrations effectively, providing excellent internal and external stability.

Abstract:In the paper, a novel radial AC hybrid magnetic bearing (HMB) is proposed, which is driven by an AC 3-phase power inverter, and biased magnetic fluxes are provided by an axial magnetized permanent magnet ring. The configuration and principle of the radial AC hybrid magnetic bearing are expounded, and the mathematical models of suspension forces are deduced by using the method of equivalent magnetic circuits. Then the impact of control currents on the magnetic fluxes density distribution in bearing and in air gap for the radial AC hybrid magnetic bearing are simulated by 3D electromagnetic finite element method (FEM), which are based on the parameters obtained from the prototype. The test rig for the new magnetic bearing is constructed and a digital control system of the bearing system is built. The hardware of digital control system based on TMS320F2812 is designed, and the control software using C language and assemble language in the C2000 development environment are developed. The experiments are completed and the test results show that the AC hybrid magnetic bearing has good dynamic and static performance.
Implicit Generalized Predictive Control of an Active Magnetic Bearing System

Abstract:In this paper, a simple implicit generalized predictive self-tuning control based on Controlled Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving-Average(CARIMA) model for an active magnetic bearing system(AMB) is proposed. The dynamic behaviors of the AMB system depend on the air gaps between the stator and the rotor. In practice, no precise mathematical model can be established because the AMB system is inherently unstable and the relationship between the electromagnetic force and the current in the coils is nonlinear. The proposed control strategy is a new method of remote predictive control, which combines the advantages of various algorithms as a whole and guarantees the stability of the open loop unstable system. With the implicit generalized predictive control algorithm, the model parameters are not need to be identified, and the solving Diophantine equation on-line can be avoided. It can reduce the workload and save time. Finally, the simulation results on the AMB system with the algorithm show the tracking performance and the effectiveness of the implicit generalized predictive self-tuning control.

Abstract:This paper presents a 3 degrees of freedom magnetic bearing (3-DOF MB) with toroidal radial control coils. By using the toroidal coils, the proposed structure reduces the copper loss but increases the copper usage of the radial control coils. The variation is mainly related to the stator length, pole width, and yoke width. The overall structure is symmetrical about the radial stator in the axial direction, and the cross-coupling effect between the radial and axial directions can be restrained. A magnetic circuit (MC) model is built to design the structure parameters. The force characteristics calculated by the MC model and 3-D finite-element method (FEM) verify the rationality of the design. The influence of the control currents and displacements of other directions on the force characteristics are analyzed by the 3-D FEM, and the weak cross-coupling effect of the proposed 3-DOF MB is confirmed. The accuracy of the MC model and 3-D FEM is validated by the prototype experiments.

Abstract:We present a hybrid magnetic bearing based on a novel structure. The X and Y magnetic fields of the bearing are independent of each other, which decreases the magnetic field coupling of the two dimensions significantly. An external rotor structure is designed into the magnetic bearing. We discuss the working principle of the magnetic bearing and derive its mathematical model. Our computer-aided simulation based on finite-element software (Flux 3D) indicates that the magnetic fields in the two directions decouple from each other well, and that our design is practical.

Abstract:In this paper, a seven-phase inset-type permanent magnetic bearingless motor is proposed with characters as the treble frequency suspension force compensation and elimination of the affection of the third plane to the suspension plane. The winding configuration and harmonic distribution are presented. Then, the analysis formulations of inductance and suspension force of the proposed motor are presented and verified by Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Furthermore, the control system is proposed based on the derived voltage model, torque model and suspension force model with the rotor eccentricity being considered. Finally, the Simulink simulation is provided on a prototype motor to verify the validity of the analysis.

Abstract:：In order to actively control the bearing force transmissibility in active magnetic bearings supporting rigid rotor systems, the components of bearing force transmissibility are analyzed, two control algorithms for the bearing force transmissibility, i.e., zero current control algorithm and zero transmitting force control algorithm, are proposed based on the synchronous rotor position component identification method with a real-time variable step size polygonal iterative seeking algorithm, the effectiveness of the control algorithms to actively control the bearing force transmissibility are numerically studied, some experiments are carried out in a high-speed magnetically suspended flywheel energy storage system to verify the effectiveness of the control algorithms.The results from numerical simulations and experiments show that the zero current algorithm can control most of the bearing force transmissibility, but the zero transmitting force algorithm can completely remove the bearing force transmissibility. Abstract:In this paper, a multiphase bearingless motor (MBLM) with a single set of half-coiled winding is proposed, with advantages such as simpler construction and capability of fault-tolerant operation, comparing with the traditional BLM with dual groups of three-phase windings. The magnetomotive force distribution of the half-coiled winding is analyzed. Then, the winding configuration of a five-phase permanent-magnet bearingless motor is introduced, and the inductance of the MBLM is deduced by the modified winding function approach and verified by finite-element analysis. Furthermore, the control system is proposed based on the derived voltage model, torque model, and suspension force model, considering rotor eccentricity. Finally, static and dynamic experiments are provided on a prototype motor to verify the validity of the analysis.
