Abstract:Starting from the several public buildings disputed andthe recently opened Conference of National Engineering Academy withthe topic on public buildings the paper has discussed the relation be-tween the lack of architecture theory and several abnormalities comesforth in the architecture area. A point of view of "back to the basic" isbrought up again. Based on the two books translated newly by Profes-sor Wang Guixiang on Architecture Theory, the author has reviewedthe history of architecture theory of both China and world, explainedthe principles of Primary Categories and Secondary Categories, andbring forward that there are some connections between the proper pointsof view on architecture theory and the national development. The pa-per advised that we should face to the situation on the architecture theoryand design, to understand and consider the basic principle of architec-ture theory more carefully and deeply, then to make the Chinese archi-tecture enterprise flourish.

Abstract:This essay discussed the close relationship between Modernism tradition and Gehua Youth and Cultural Center.This architecture designed by OPEN Architecture made use of the classic modernism language and could be related to the works and thoughts of Loos,Le Corbusier and Mies.This phenomenon indicated the modernism stance of OPEN Architecture,especially its notions of decorum and social engineer, and more fundamentally,its belief in the power of architecture to change the world. Abstract:Architectural criticism is based on the interpretation of architectural discourses from architects at both micro and macro level. The design of Shi Zi Lin Private Club indicates a departure from the architectural syntactic rules to which Yung Ho Chang stuck for a long time.
