Abstract:With posttraditionalism and postmodern frames of reference firmly established in social theory and many of the applied social sciences, including management, the question of the role of postmodernism in human resource development (HRD) theory needs to be asked. The purpose of the article is to explicate the contribution of postmodernism to HRD, distinguish posttraditionalism from the recently emerged stream of critical perspectives on HRD, and to argue for the contribution of postmodern readings of HRD theory to better understand the complex landscape of contemporary organizations, employees, and learning and development functions. Starting with a historical analysis of the meaning of the Enlightenment, and various modernist perspectives, the article describes the central tenets of postmodern theory and their implications for the theory and practice of HRD and argue for its important role in broadening and enriching the field of HRD.

Abstract:Natural-view of postmodern philosophy holds that contemporary contradiction between human being and nature should put blame on modernity, and it is the evil consequence caused by mechanical natural-view and anthropocentrism. Through criticizing the natural-view of modern philosophy, the postmodern philosophers put forward their natural-views, including organism, which insists nature possesses its intrinsic values, and structural-framism, which holds the relationship between human being and nature contains its internal connections, and entiretism, which believes life values are higher than the values of the unorganic. The natural-view of postmodern philosophy have certain positive significance and realistic values, but it also have some theoretical contradictions and limitations.

Abstract:Chinese culture has undergone its development and evolution of five thousand years, leaving people with valuable ideological inside information. However, influenced by western culture, the contemporary world has gradually shown a trend of modern management, which is quite different from the cultural philosophy and management thought involved in Chinese tradition. Therefore, this paper studies the differences between Chinese traditional and modern management thoughts, and proposes the relevant integration methods of taking the essence and discarding the dross, seeking the golden mean in competition and cooperation, promoting the integration of rule of virtue and rule of law, regulating the relationship between interests, righteousness and benefits, and advocating people first.

Abstract:The paper explores the boundary of oriental management from research object, research content and research methodology. Both oriental management and western management are complementary each other. Cross-cultural management should base on the in-depth development of oriental management. Oriental management not only studies oriental management philosophy, but studies the concrete management methods and techniques; not only inherits the essential of oriental traditional management culture, but purifies the contemporary management thoughts and practice; not only researches the indigenous issues, but traces the global trends of management; not only focuses enterprises management, but studies self-management, family-management, and government management. Problem-oriented methodology is the best choice of oriental management. Finding the unique research method, integrating the etic and emic approach, and linking theories and practice tightly are the directions of future research methodologies of oriental management.

Abstract:The contemporary organizational environment is characterized by 4 key salient components,which are complexity,change,ambiguity,and uncertainty(UACC).Managers are challenged by problems of determining causality,managing holistically,and adaptation to rapid change.Western philosophical approaches to confronting management challenges arising from UACC,inherent in the wider economic environment,emphasize standardization and rational design on the basis of science,law,and religion.Conversely,Oriental philosophical approaches to management challenges oppose such rigid systems in favor of flexibility and adaptability which emphasize harmony and morality.By integrating these two complementary approaches,we propose He Xie Management Theory(HXMT),which establishes a clear vision and mission to direct the development of organizations,organize an integrated management system and cope with management challenges.
