Significance of Plasma Interleukin-8(Il-8)levels in Acute Cerebrovascular Diseases

Abstract:Objective To investigate the significance of plasma interleukin-8(IL-8)levels in acute cerebrovascular diseases (ACD).Methods Plasma IL-8 levels in 30 ACD patients(patients with acute 40 cerebral hemorrhage, 32 patients with acute cerebral infarction)and in 30 healthy subjects were measured by ELISA.Results Plasma IL-8 levels in the patients with ACD were significantly higher than the levels in the healthy subjects (107.28±38 16 ng/L vs 51.35±13.29 ng/L, P 0 01) Moreover,the levels of plasma IL-8 in the patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage (113.32±39.55 ng/L)and in-patients with acute cerebral infarction(99.73±43.88 ng/L)were significantly elevated compared to those in the normal grorp( P 0 01) Plasma IL-8 levels were no significant difference between the patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage and acute cerebral infarction( P 0 05) Conclusion Plsama IL-8 levels were significantly elevated in the patients with ACD,which suggested that IL-8 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of ACD.
