Abstract:How do physical chemical variables affect the self-assembly of de novo designed viromimetic proteins? Above a critical concentration, proteins alone form regular nanorods, which was also dependent on self-assembly block length. High temperature disassembled reversibly the protein rods and this helped to fit their self-assembly into a cooperative nucleation elongation model. These results help us to understand and optimize protein designs for more controlled virus-like nanostructures. Artwork by Hortensia Segura. More information can be found in the Full Paper by A.
