Abstract:Amphiphilic copolymers P(PBA)-g-P(PEG) containing poly(phenylboronic acid) (PPBA) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) side chains were synthesized by copolymerization of 4-vinylphenylboronic acid (PBA) and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate. The surface tension results showed that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of P(PBA)-g-P(PEG) was 0.09g/L. TEM revealed that these copolymers self-assembled into regular sphere micelles above CMC. The photon correlation spectroscopy suggested that they had unique performance of thermo-induced self-assembly. Above critical micelle temperature, they self-assembled into monodisperse micelles with thermosensitivity. Hydrodynamic diameters of these micelles increased dramatically in the presence of glucose. The glucose-regulated drug release behavior was observed through UV-vis spectroscopy.

Abstract:A novel series of quadruple responsive copolymers, poly(ethylene glycol)-ss-[poly(dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate)-co-poly(2-nitrobenzyl methacrylate)] [PEG-ss-(PDMAEMA-co-PNBM)], were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization mediated by home-made PEG-based macro-initiator labeled with disulfides. The obtained copolymers could self-assemble in aqueous solution forming micelles with the disulfide bridge linking the hydrophilic coronas (PEG) and the hydrophobic cores (PDMAEMA-co-PNBM). Investigation on the resulted micelles indicated that the micelles could respond to various stimuli, that is, temperature, pH, the presence of dithiothreitol (DTT), and UV irradiation. Moreover, the responsive behavior of the micelles depends on the type of stimuli, that is, temperature change causes size change of the micelles, while UV irradiation leads to dissolution of the self-assembled structures. Such stimulus-dependent responsive behavior could be applied in smart materials that deal with multi-tasks or in the construction of complex logic gate. Abstract:Poly(ethylene glycol)-b/ock-poly(acrylic acid-co-acrylamidophenylboronic acid) [PEG(114)-b-(PAA(63)-co-PAAPBA(107))] was synthesized by the modification of poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(acrylic acid) (PEG(114)-b-PAA(170)) with 3-aminophenyl-boronic acid (APBA). Glucose-responsive PEG(114)-b-(PAA(63)-co-PAAPBA(107)) self-assembled into core-shell micelles with the hydrophobic core composed of PAAPBA and hydrophilic shell composed of PEG in aqueous solution. The swelling and disaggregating behaviors of micelles responding to glucose were investigated by using light scattering in aqueous solution at pH 7.4. Characterization of insulin-loaded micelles and their drug release in solutions with various glucose concentrations were further studied. The results demonstrated that the drug release rate can be controlled by variation of glucose concentration.

Abstract:Multi-responsive graft copolymers with tertiary amine side groups (PSI-g-DEEDA-DDA) were designed and synthesized via ring-opening reactions of polysuccinimide (PSI) with N, N diethylethylenediamine (DEEDA) and dodecylamine (DDA). PSI-g-DEEDA-DDA could be further self-assemblied into polymeric micelles in aqueous solution due to the difference of water-solubility of side chains. The composition and structure of micelles have been investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-1 NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). A hydrophobic drug, indomethacin (IND), has been chosen as a model drug to investigate the drug release properties triggered by pH, temperature, and CO2. This work provided a new platform for development drug delivery vehicles with multi-responsive properties.

Abstract:A double hydrophilic ABC triblock copolymer, poly(2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PDEA-b-PDMA-b-PNIPAM), containing the well-known pH-responsive PDEA block and thermoresponsive PNIPAM block, was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization via sequential monomer addition using ethyl 2-chloropropionate as the initiator. The obtained triblock copolymer exhibits interesting "schizophrenic" micellization behavior in aqueous solution, and supramolecularly self-assembles into three-layer "onion-like" PNIPAM-core micelles at acidic pH's and elevated temperatures and PDEA-core micelles with "inverted" structures at alkaline pH's and room temperature. In both cases dynamic laser light scattering (LLS) and optical transmittance reveal the presence of near-monodisperse micelles, and the micelle formation/inversion process is fully reversible. Novel shell cross-linked (SCL) micelles with pH-responsive PDEA cores and thermoresponsive PNIPAM coronas were then facilely fabricated from the PDEA-b-PDMA-b-PNIPAM triblock copolymer by cross-linking the PDMA inner shells with 1,2-bis(2-iodoethoxy)ethane. The reversible pH-dependent swelling/shrinking of PDEA cores and thermosensitive collapse/aggregation of PNIPAM coronas of the obtained SCL micelles; were investigated in detail by dynamic LLS, optical transmittance, and transmission electron microscopy. As the structurally stable SCL micelles possess pH-controllable core swellability and thermo-tunable corona permeability, the release profile of a model hydrophobic drug, dipyridamole, initially loaded within the hydrophobic PDEA core, can be dually controlled by both the solution pH and the temperature. This represents the first report of SCL micelles with multiresponsive cores and coronas, which may find practical applications in fields such as drug delivery and smart release.

Abstract:Release efficiencies at 45 °C are higher than those in 30 °C under the same other conditions, indicating high temperature is favorable to drug controlled releasing. The controllable releasing behaviors can be attributed to the distinctive core/shell vesicle structure after self‐assembly of the ternary copolymer. In order to avoid structural instability caused by the hydrolysis of spiropyran unit during responsive process, a new spiropyran monomer named as SPA was prepared by grafting carbamate functional groups to side chain of spiropyran frame. With SPA, 2‐(2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy) ethoxy) ethyl methacrylate (MEO3MA) and 2‐(diethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) as the organic monomers, a triple responsive copolymer, P(SPA‐co‐MEO3MA‐co‐DEAEMA) abbreviated as PSOD, was obtained by one‐pot random copolymerization. The chemical structure, responsive behaviors and self‐assembly of the resulting copolymer were studied by a series of technical methods. With 5‐Fluoro‐2′‐deoxyuridin (FUDR) as the model anti‐cancer drug, the loading and controlled releasing behaviors of the copolymer micelles were systematically explored. Also, the cytotoxicity test and fluorescence imaging of PSOD copolymer were performed with human breast cancer cell line (MCF‐7) as the experimental subject. The results showed that the copolymer micelles had controllable drug releasing performance in complex combined stimuli conditions, and the releasing process could be well described by Korsmeyer‐Peppas model. The cytotoxicity of PSOD was proved to be relatively low, which laid a foundation for the subsequent in‐vivo drug releasing. Triple responsive performance of the copolymer micelles might provide a new inspiration for the future study of drug‐controlled releasing system.

Abstract:Two types of diblock copolymers containing phenylboronic acid and glucose moieties,respectively,poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-b-poly(N-acryloyl-3-aminophenylboronic acid)(PNIPAM-b-PAPBA) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-b-poly(acryloyl glucosamine)(PNIPAM-b-PAGA) were synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT) polymerization.Due to the formation of borate ester functionalities between phenylboronic acid and glucose moieties under slightly alkaline conditions(pH 9.3),mixed solution of PNIPAM-b-PAPBA and PNIPAM-b-PAGA diblock copolymers can spontaneously form interpolymer complex micelles consisting of PAPBA/PAGA complex cores and PNIPAM coronas.Since the formation/cleavage of borate ester linkages is highly reversible upon the variation of solution pH and glucose concentrations,interpolymer complex micelles fabricated via reversible covalent bond formation between PAPBA and PAGA blocks exhibit multi-responsiveness to pH,glucose and temperature.
Ph and Thermo Dual-Responsive Starch-G-p(deaema-co-pegma): Synthesis Via SET-LRP, Self-Assembly and Drug Release Behaviors

Abstract:A novel pH and thermo dual-responsive graft copolymer, starch-graft-poly(N,N-diethyl aminoethyl methacrylate-co-poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate) [starch-g-P(DEAEMA-co-PEGMA)], was successfully synthesized through single-electron transfer living radical polymerization (SET-LRP). The structure and molecular weight of the grafted chains were confirmed by H-1 NMR. These graft copolymers can self-assemble into micelles with starch backbone and PDEAEMA as the core and PPEGMA as the corona in water at pH 7.4. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the graft copolymers varied between 0.0313 and 0.1364 mg/mL, decreasing with an increase in the molecular weight of the grafted chains and the ratio of PDEAEMA and PPEGMA segments. The pH and thermo dual-responsive behaviors of starch-g-P(DEAEMA-co-PEGMA) micelles were investigated by DLS and TEM. As the pH decreasd from 8.0 to 5.5, the micelle sizes continued to increase due to the protonation of the PDEAEMA segments, and as the pH decreased to below 5.5, the micelles began to disassemble, which was verified by TEM observations. Upon heating, the size of the micelles decreased because of the shrinkage of the PDEAEMA segments. The pH and thermo dual-responsive behaviors of the starch-g-P(DEAEMA-co-PEGMA) micelles are reversible. Doxorubicin (DOX), a hydrophobic drug, was encapsulated in the micelles, and in vitro release from the drug-loaded micelles displayed good pH-responsive behavior.
Dual-Responsive Micelles Based on Boronicacid-Modified Polymer

Abstract:Phenylboronic acid modified polymer poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(aspartic acid-co-aspartamido-phenylboronic acid) [PEG-b-P(Asp-co-AspPBA)] as well as a cross-linker 3,3'-dithiobis[1,2(S)-propanediol] (DTBPD) which contained disulfide bond and dual-diol groups was successfully synthesized. PEG-b-P(Asp-co-AspPBA) could be mildly cross-linked by DTBPD based on the reaction of PBA and the dual-diol groups, leading to the formation of a novel dual-responsive micelle with boronic ester core and PEG shell. The structure, morphology, and the glucose/redox dual-responsive behavior of the micelles were systematically investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) spectrum and dynamic laser light scattering(DLS). It was demonstrated that the ratio of diol to PBA(D : B) had influence on the dual-responsive behavior of the micelles. At higher ratio of D : B, only responsive swelling of micelles was observed. While for the micelles with lower ratio of D : B, larger degree of swelling happened and the micelles gradually dissociated under higher concentrations of glucose ordithiothreitol(DTT). This kind of dual-responsive micelles may find application in drug delivery in the future.
Thermo-responsive drug release from self-assembled micelles of brush-like PLA/PEG analogues block copolymers

Abstract:Thermo-responsive brush-like amphiphilic poly[2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethyl methacrylate-co-oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate]-b-poly(l-lactide)-b-poly[2-(2-methoxyethoxy) ethyl methacrylate-co-oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylate] [P(MEO2MA-co-OEGMA)-b-PLLA-b-P(MEO2MA-co-OEGMA)] triblock copolymers were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization of MEO2MA and OEGMA co-monomers using a α,ω-Bromopropionyl poly(l-lactide) (Br-PLLA-Br) macroinitiator. The resulting copolymers with MEO2MA/OEGMA molar ratio ranging from 79/21 to 42/58 were characterized by (1)H nuclear magnetic resonance and size exclusion chromatography. Thermo-responsive micelles were obtained by self-assembly of copolymers in aqueous medium. The micelles are spherical in shape with sizes varying from 20.7 to 102.5 nm. A hydrophobic anticancer drug, curcumin, was encapsulated in micelles by using membrane hydration method. The properties of drug loaded micelles were determined by dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy and lower critical solution temperature (LCST) measurements. The micelles size decreases from 102.5 nm for blank micelles to 37.6 nm with 10.8% drug loading, suggesting that the drug plays an important role in the micellization procedure. The LCST decreases from 45.1°C for blank micelles to 40.6 and 38.3°C with 5.9 and 10.8% drug loading, respectively. In vitro drug release was performed in pH 7.4 PBS at different temperatures. Data show that the release rate was significantly enhanced above the LCST comparing with that below the LCST. The amount of released drug at 41°C was ca. 20% higher than that at 37°C. Burst-like release was depressed due to enhanced interaction between drug with hydrophobic PLA and PMA chains.

Abstract:Herein, we reported a novel tri-block copolymer synthesized by segmented ring-opening polymerization of temperature-sensitive 5-(pyrrolidine-1-carbonyl) oxepan-2-one monomer (VPyCL) and redox-sensitive macrocyclic disulfide-substituted carbonate monomer (MSS). The structure of the copolymers was confirmed by GPC, H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR. The obtained tri-block copolymers could self-assemble in aqueous solution to form well-structured micelles, with the mPEG-b-PVPyCL block acting as the hydrophilic coronal and the PSS block acting as the hydrophobic core. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) studies confirmed that micelles formed by these tri-block copolymers with different block ratios could respond to different temperature ranges during the heating/cooling process and respond to reducing agent glutathione (GSH). In addition, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results further confirmed the polymeric micelles' dual-stimuli responsiveness. The potential application of this type of dual-stimuli responsive micelles in drug delivery systems was evaluated using doxorubicin (DOX) as the model molecule. The stimulus-dependent responsive behaviors of obtained micelles can be applied to the construction of smart materials capable of performing multiple functions under the appropriate conditions.

Abstract:Polymeric nanoparticles with glucose-responsiveness under physiological conditions are of great interests in developing drug delivery system for the treatment of diabetes. Herein, glucose-responsive complex micelles were prepared by self-assembly of a phenylboronic acid-contained block copolymer PEG-b-P(AA-co-APBA) and a glycopolymer P(AA-co-AGA) based on the covalent complexation between phenylboronic acid and glycosyl. The formation of the complex micelles with a P(AA-co-APBA)/P(AA-co-AGA) core and a PEG shell was confirmed by HNMR analysis. The glucose-responsiveness of the complex micelles was investigated by monitoring the light scattering intensity and the fluorescence (ARS) of the micelle solutions. The complex micelles displayed an enhanced glucose-responsiveness compared to the simple PEG-b-P(AA-co-APBA) micelles and the sensitivity of the complex micelles to glucose increased with the decrease of the amount of P(AA-co-AGA) in the compositions. The cytotoxicity of the polymers and the complex micelles was also evaluated by MTT assay. This kind of complex micelles may be an excellent candidate for insulin delivery and may find application in the treatment of diabetes.

Abstract:Well-defined -cyclodextrin (-CD)-terminated double hydrophilic diblock copolymers (DHBCs), -CD- poly(di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate) (PMEO(2)MA)-b-poly(2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDEA) (BP1) and -CD-PDEA-b-PMEO(2)MA (BP2), are synthesized via sequential atom transfer radical polymerizations of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate and 2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate using alkynyl-functionalized initiator, followed by click reactions with an excess of mono-azido-substituted -cyclodextrin (-CD-N-3). The micellization behavior of these as-prepared DHBCs in aqueous solutions suffers from insufficient colloidal stabilities at basic pH and high temperatures (e.g., pH 9 and 45 degrees C), resulting in the formation of macroscopic precipitations. However, the stabilities of colloidal nanoparticles can be remarkably enhanced as a result of the convenient formation of three-layered micelles by taking advantage of host-guest interactions of BP1/BP2 and Ad-terminated poly(ethylene glycol). The pH- and thermoresponsive three-layered micelles with enhanced stability may augur promising applications in targeted drug delivery and controlled intelligent release.

Abstract:Many glucose-sensitive micelles self-assembled from phenylboronic acid (PBA)-functionalized block copolymers have been reported; however, the addition of glucose always triggers the disassembly of the micelles. Herein, we reported a glucose-sensitive micelle of poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-(acrylamido)phenylboronic acid) (PEG-b-P(NIPAM-2-AAPBA)) block copolymer that responds to glucose in a very different way. Using a macro-reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agent, the block copolymer was synthesized by RAFT copolymerization of NIPAM and 2-AAPBA. Because of the thermosensitivity of the P(NIPAM-2-AAPBA) block, the copolymer self-assembles into micelles upon heating. More importantly, the addition of glucose triggers the micellization of the copolymer instead of disassembly of the micelles. The unique behavior of PEG-b-P(NIPAM-2-AAPBA) originates from the unique glucose-responsive mechanism of the P(NIPAM-2-AAPBA) block. For common PBA-functionalized polymers, reaction with glucose results in more ionized form of the PBA group, turns the polymer from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, and thus leads to the disassembly of the micelles. Very differently, for P(NIPAM-2-AAPBA), adding glucose lowers its lower critical solution temperature (LCST), turns it from hydrophilic to hydrophobic, and therefore triggers the micellization of the block copolymer. Besides glucose, sugars such as fructose, mannose, and galactose can trigger the self-assembly of PEG-b-P(NIPAM-2-AAPBA) too.

Abstract:Thermo-responsive amphiphilic poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-N-acryloxysuccinimide) (PMMA-b-P(NIPAAm-co-NAS)) block copolymer was synthesized by successive RAFT polymerizations. The uncross-linked micelles were facilely prepared by directly dissolving the block copolymer in an aqueous medium, and the shell cross-linked (SCL) micelles were further fabricated by the addition of ethylenediamine as a di-functional cross-linker into the micellar solution. Optical absorption measurements showed that the LCST of uncross-linked and cross-linked micelles was 31.0°C and 40.8°C, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed that both uncross-linked and cross-linked micelles exhibited well-defined spherical shape in aqueous phase at room temperature, while the SCL micelles were able to retain the spherical shape with relatively smaller dimension even at 40°C due to the cross-linked structure. In vitro drug release study demonstrated a slower and more sustained drug release behavior from the SCL micelles at high temperature as compared with the release profile of uncross-linked micelles, indicating the great potential of SCL micelles developed herein as novel smart carriers for controlled drug release.

The block copolymer was synthesized by ATRP block copolymerization of a spiropyran-containing methacrylate (SPMA) with di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (DEGMMA). By facile control of the photo irradiation and solution temperature, PSPMA-core and PDEGMMA-core micelles can be obtained, respectively. The thermo- and photo-responsive micelles were used as smart polymeric nanocarriers for controlled encapsulation, triggered release, and re-encapsulation of model drug coumarin 102. The double-responsive self-assembly and disassembly were tracked by dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. (C) 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Temperature and pH double responsive hybrid cross-linked micelles based on P(NIPAAm-co-MPMA)-b-P(DEA): RAFT synthesis and "schizophrenic" micellization

Abstract:Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate)-b-poly(2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (P(NIPAAm-co-MPMA)-b-P(DEA)) copolymer was synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The temperature and pH responsive schizophrenic micellization behaviors of P(NIPAAm-co-MPMA)-b-P(DEA) and the cross-linking of P-(NIPAAm-co-MPMA) blocks using inorganic silica-based cross-linking strategy were investigated in detail. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed that the resultant core cross-linked (CCL) and shell cross-linked (SCL) micelles displayed regular spherical shapes with different sizes in N,N'-dimethylformamide (DMF) and aqueous media. The structure changes of CCL and SCL micellcs at different pHs and temperatures were characterized by H-1 NMR. Optical absorption measurements showed that the lower critical solution temperatures (LCSTs) of the CCL and SCL micelles were 37.5 and 40.5 degrees C, respectively. In vitro drug release study showed that the drug-loaded CCL and SCL micelles displayed thermoresponsive and pH double responsive release behaviors.
Supramolecular Self-Assembly and Controllable Drug Release of Thermosensitive Hyperbranched Multiarm Copolymers

Abstract:A novel temperature-responsive hyperbranched multiarm copolymer with a hydrophobic hyperbranched poly(3-ethyl-3-(hydroxymethyl) oxetane) (HBPO) core and thermosensitive poly( N -isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) arms was synthesized via the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of NIPAM monomers from a hyperbranched HBPO macroinitiator. It was found that HBPO-star-PNIPAM self-assembled into multimolecular micelles (around 60 nm) in water at room temperature according to pyrene probe fluorescence spectrometry, 1 H NMR, TEM, and DLS measurements. The micelle solution showed a reversible thermosensitive phase transition at a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) (around 32°C) observed by variable temperature optical absorbance measurements. Variable temperature NMR and DLS analyses demonstrated that the LCST transition originated from the secondary aggregation of the micelles driven by increasing hydrophobic interaction due to the dehydration of PNIPAM shells upon heating. The drug loading and release properties of HBPO-star-PNIPAM micelles were also investigated using prednisone acetate as a model drug. The micelles showed a much improved drug encapsulation efficiency and temperature-dependent sustainable release behavior due to the special micellar structure. The micelles exhibited no apparent cytotoxicity against human HeLa cells.
Poly(lactic Acid)/poly(ethylene Glycol) Supramolecular Diblock Copolymers Based on Three-Fold Complementary Hydrogen Bonds: Synthesis, Micellization, and Stimuli Responsivity

Abstract:Thymine-terminated poly(lactic acid) (PLA-THY) and diaminotriazine-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-DAT) are synthesized and they can form the supramolecular amphiphilic diblock copolymers in solution through the thymine/diaminotriazine complementary hydrogen bonding interactions. Such supramolecular copolymers self-assemble into the stimuli-responsive micelles in aqueous solution. Micelle size, crystalline state, stimuli responsibility, drug loading and release behavior of the supramolecular micelles can be readily tuned from the block length, stereostructure, homo and stereocomplex crystallizations of hydrophobic PLA blocks. The enantiomerically-mixed supramolecular copolymers with both poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(d-lactic acid) (PDLA) blocks assemble into the stereocomplexed micelles, while those having the isotactic PLLA (or PDLA) and atactic poly(d,l-lactic acid) (PDLLA) blocks form the homocrystalline and amorphous micelles, respectively. The stereocomplexed and amorphous micelles exhibit smaller size than their homocrystalline analogs, all of which are much larger than the micelles formed from the conventional covalently-bonded diblock copolymers. The supramolecular micelles are sensitive to the external stimuli such as pH and ion. The homocrystalline and stereocomplexed micelles undergo fast aggregation in the acidic and salted solutions due to the disassociation of complementary hydrogen bonds. The stereocomplexed micelles exhibit larger drug loading content and slower drug release rate than the amorphous and homocrystalline ones, because of the larger polymer/drug interactions and tighter chain packing inside the micelle cores.

Abstract:Poly(5-propyl-1,3-dioxan-2-one)-b-dimethylamine modified polycarbonate (PC(MPpC-MMA)) and poly(ethylene glycol)-b-carboxylated polycarbonate (PEG-PCCOOH) diblock copolymers were prepared to construct a pH responsive, highly stable and biodegradable mixed micelle. The two copolymers self-assembled into the mixed micelle in pH 7.4 PBS driven by electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. PC(MPpC-MMA) with hydrophobic inner core was used for carrying drug and the dimethylamine part was designed as a trigger to disassemble the mixed micelle. PEG-PCCOOH could shield the positive character of the micelle which might show disadvantage to normal tissue. In addition, the free carboxyl groups could further increase the loading efficiency of positive charged drugs. The size and zeta potential of the micelle gradually decreased with increasing the molar ratio of PEG-PCCOOH to PC(MPpC-MMA). These mixed micelles could withstand high ionic strength of plasma and were rather stable for long time storage. However, via decrease of pH value from 7.4 to 5.0, they could undergo dissociation into smaller nanoparticles which were in a diameter of 20 nm and showed positive surface nature. In vitro drug delivery studies showed a faster release rate at pH 5.0 than that at pH 7.4. The MTT assays demonstrated potent cytotoxic activity against HepG2 cells. All these results indicate that the newly mixed polycarbonate micelle can show great potential in biomedical field.
