Abstract:An efficient and Brønsted acid free one-pot protocol to directly generate structurally sophisticated α-formylpyrrole derivatives in moderate to good yields has been demonstrated, involving an iron-mediated domino oxidation/formylation reaction of readily available 2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroles in dimethyl sulfoxide and air atmosphere, in which dimethyl sulfoxide acts as the formyl donor. A possible mechanism is presented.

Abstract:Mediated by 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ), a novel oxidative coupling of hydrazones and 1,3-diarylpropenes has been disclosed to generate appealing β,γ-unsaturated hydrazones, which further undergo 5-exo-trig or 6-endo-trig cascade cyclization to give the respective 1,2-dihydropyridazines or pyrazoles selectively under metal-free conditions. The mechanisms of the coupling and subsequent cyclization are proposed.

Abstract:A new transition-metal-free version for the synthesis of π-conjugated quinazoline-substituted ethene derivatives from readily available starting materials has been developed. Quinazoline-substituted ethenes were obtained in moderate to high yields with completely Z-selectivity, and the resulting quinazoline-substituted ethenes show typical aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties.

Abstract:Transition-metal-free, sulfur-mediated allylic C–H arylation, epoxidation, and aziridination were realized through one-pot procedures. The reaction design involved initial addition between olefins and triflic anhydride activated sulfoxides, followed by subsequent reactions of the allylic sulfur ylides generated under basic conditions with arylboronic acids, aldehydes, or aldimines, to give allylic arylation, epoxidation, or aziridination products, respectively.
