Abstract:Medical imaging provides a comprehensive perspective and rich information for disease diagnosis. Combined with artificial intelligence technology, medical imaging can be further mined for detailed pathological information. Many studies have shown that the macroscopic imaging characteristics of tumors are closely related to microscopic gene, protein and molecular changes. In order to explore the function of artificial intelligence algorithms in in-depth analysis of medical imaging information, this paper reviews the articles published in recent years from three perspectives: medical imaging analysis method, clinical applications and the development of medical imaging in the direction of pathological molecular prediction. We believe that AI-aided medical imaging analysis will be extensively contributing to precise and efficient clinical decision.

Abstract:Ophthalmology is a subject that highly depends on imaging examination. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has great potential in medical imaging analysis, including image diagnosis, classification, grading, guiding treatment and evaluating prognosis. The combination of the two can realize mass screening of grass-roots eye health, making it possible to seek medical treatment in the mode of "first treatment at the grass-roots level, two-way referral, emergency and slow treatment, and linkage between the upper and lower levels". On the basis of summarizing the AI technology carried out by scholars and their teams all over the world in the field of ophthalmology, quite a lot of studies have confirmed that machine learning can assist in diagnosis, grading, providing optimal treatment plans and evaluating prognosis in corneal and conjunctival diseases, ametropia, lens diseases, glaucoma, iris diseases, etc. This paper systematically shows the application and progress of AI technology in common anterior segment ocular diseases, the current limitations, and prospects for the future.

Abstract:<p>Cancer is an aggressive disease with a low median survival rate. Ironically, the treatment process is long and very costly due to its high recurrence and mortality rates. Accurate early diagnosis and prognosis prediction of cancer are essential to enhance the patient's survival rate. Developments in statistics and computer engineering over the years have encouraged many scientists to apply computational methods such as multivariate statistical analysis to analyze the prognosis of the disease, and the accuracy of such analyses is significantly higher than that of empirical predictions. Furthermore, as artificial intelligence (AI), especially machine learning and deep learning, has found popular applications in clinical cancer research in recent years, cancer prediction performance has reached new heights. This article reviews the literature on the application of AI to cancer diagnosis and prognosis, and summarizes its advantages. We explore how AI assists cancer diagnosis and prognosis, specifically with regard to its unprecedented accuracy, which is even higher than that of general statistical applications in oncology. We also demonstrate ways in which these methods are advancing the field. Finally, opportunities and challenges in the clinical implementation of AI are discussed. Hence, this article provides a new perspective on how AI technology can help improve cancer diagnosis and prognosis, and continue improving human health in the future.</p>

Abstract:<p>The development of computer technology is becoming more and more mature. The application of artificial intelligence to the medical field has made important contributions to medical diagnosis and auxiliary detection. Using the powerful computing power of computers to replace humans in the automatic diagnosis of complex diseases has been enthusiastic by the majority of scientific researchers. In the current medical imaging diagnosis system, the location of the lesion is mainly found by observing the two-dimensional medical image sequence, and the signs of biological information cannot be accurately displayed. Through medical image analysis technology, two-dimensional images will be divided into three-dimensional models after image segmentation, image recognition, and three-dimensional imaging. In this way, it seems that the doctor can "hold the image volume data," which can greatly improve the scientific and accurate diagnosis. Sex—this article applies artificial intelligence to medical imaging, combined with embedded technology, RFID technology and signal processing technology, and applies the new coronavirus pneumonia image to the artificial intelligence environment after processing, assisting doctors in diagnosis of the disease, and providing relevant information about patients record and manage the diagnosis and diagnosis, save and accumulate the experience and knowledge of famous doctors through the expert system, and then perform corresponding operations and analysis. Through the medical image intelligent analysis system, the safety risk of medical imaging artificial intelligence diagnosis is reduced from 81% to 11%, which greatly reduces the hidden safety hazards for doctors and patients, reduces the workload of doctors, and also reduces the cost of medical care by 79% It is reduced to 20%, which reduces the waiting time of patients and achieves the purpose of improving the accuracy of diagnosis.</p>

Abstract:Medical imaging technology plays a key role in modern medical diagnosis and treatment, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has revolutionised the field.AI uses deep learning and machine learning algorithms to analyse medical imaging data, improving the accuracy of lesion identification and disease prediction, and thus significantly improving the efficiency of diagnostic work. The scope of application of AI has also expanded to include the optimisation of treatment planning, the prediction of disease progression, and the assessment of patient prognosis. The application of AI has also been extended to the optimisation of treatment plans, prediction of disease progression and assessment of patient prognosis. Although AI shows great potential in medical imaging diagnosis, its clinical application still faces challenges. The quality, accessibility, sensitivity, and privacy of medical image data, as well as the "black box" nature of AI models, pose obstacles to the widespread application of AI technology. In addition, data security and privacy protection are also issues that need to be addressed. This paper reviews the current status of AI application in medical imaging diagnosis, analyses the main problems faced, and discusses the future development direction. Examples of AI applications in different medical imaging fields are discussed in the paper, and challenges such as data quality, laws and regulations, model interpretability and data security are explored in depth, and solution strategies such as enhancing data management, improving model generalisation and interpretability, strengthening data security techniques, and promoting interdisciplinary cooperation are proposed. This paper aims to provide reference for researchers and practitioners of AI in medical imaging diagnosis to promote the healthy development of the field, and calls on experts, scholars, policy makers and technology developers to work together to overcome the challenges and to realize the potential of AI technology in improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare services and safeguarding patients' health.

Abstract:Originally proposed by John McCarthy in 1955, artificial intelligence (AI) has achieved a breakthrough and revolutionized the processing methods of clinical medicine with the increasing workloads of medical records and digital images. Doctors are paying attention to AI technologies for various diseases in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. This review will illustrate AI technology procedures for medical image analysis, including data processing, model establishment, and model validation. Furthermore, we will summarize AI applications in endoscopy, radiology, and pathology, such as detecting and evaluating lesions, facilitating treatment, and predicting treatment response and prognosis with excellent model performance. The current challenges for AI in clinical application include potential inherent bias in retrospective studies that requires larger samples for validation, ethics and legal concerns, and the incomprehensibility of the output results. Therefore, doctors and researchers should cooperate to address the current challenges and carry out further investigations to develop more accurate AI tools for improved clinical applications.

These systems, categorized into image-assisted and text-assisted modes, utilize medical imaging data and clinical diagnosis records to provide diagnostic support. Abstract:With the rapid development of medical equipment, medical imaging has entered the era of big data. How to process massive data quickly and accurately extract critical information for disease diagnosis and treatment is a major challenge facing clinical practice. Artificial intelligence has unique advantages in real-time processing, prediction and analysis, transfer learning, etc., which provides a new breakthrough for solving this problem. This review reviews the artificial intelligence models applied to medical image processing in recent years, shows their wide application scenarios, briefly discusses their unique advantages from three aspects of image recognition, image enhancement and image registration, and finally summarizes the current research status and puts forward some prospects.

Abstract:Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques have significant potential to enable effective, robust and automated image phenotyping including identification of subtle patterns. AI-based detection searches the image space to find the regions of interest based on patterns and features. There is a spectrum of tumor histologies from benign to malignant that can be identified by AI-based classification approaches using image features. The extraction of minable information from images gives way to the field of radiomics and can be explored via explicit (handcrafted/engineered) and deep radiomics frameworks. Radiomics analysis has the potential to be utilized as a noninvasive technique for the accurate characterization of tumors to improve diagnosis and treatment monitoring. This work reviews AI-based techniques, with a special focus on oncological PET and PET/CT imaging, for different detection, classification, and prediction/prognosis tasks. We also discuss needed efforts to enable the translation of AI techniques to routine clinical workflows, and potential improvements and complementary techniques such as the use of natural language processing on electronic health records and neuro-symbolic AI techniques.
Prognosis of COVID-19 using Artificial Intelligence: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Abstract:Purpose: Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques have been extensively utilized for diagnosing and prognosis of several diseases in recent years. This study identifies, appraises and synthesizes published studies on the use of AI for the prognosis of COVID-19. Method: Electronic search was performed using Medline, Google Scholar, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane and ProQuest. Studies that examined machine learning or deep learning methods to determine the prognosis of COVID-19 using CT or chest X-ray images were included. Polled sensitivity, specificity area under the curve and diagnostic odds ratio were calculated. Result: A total of 36 articles were included; various prognosis-related issues, including disease severity, mechanical ventilation or admission to the intensive care unit and mortality, were investigated. Several AI models and architectures were employed, such as the Siamense model, support vector machine, Random Forest , eXtreme Gradient Boosting, and convolutional neural networks. The models achieved 71%, 88% and 67% sensitivity for mortality, severity assessment and need for ventilation, respectively. The specificity of 69%, 89% and 89% were reported for the aforementioned variables. Conclusion: Based on the included articles, machine learning and deep learning methods used for the prognosis of COVID-19 patients using radiomic features from CT or CXR images can help clinicians manage patients and allocate resources more effectively. These studies also demonstrate that combining patient demographic, clinical data, laboratory tests and radiomic features improves model performances.

Abstract:Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning algorithms, is gaining extensive attention for its excellent performance in image-recognition tasks. They can automatically make a quantitative assessment of complex medical image characteristics and achieve an increased accuracy for diagnosis with higher efficiency. AI is widely used and getting increasingly popular in the medical imaging of the liver, including radiology, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. AI can assist physicians to make more accurate and reproductive imaging diagnosis and also reduce the physicians' workload. This article illustrates basic technical knowledge about AI, including traditional machine learning and deep learning algorithms, especially convolutional neural networks, and their clinical application in the medical imaging of liver diseases, such as detecting and evaluating focal liver lesions, facilitating treatment, and predicting liver treatment response. We conclude that machine-assisted medical services will be a promising solution for future liver medical care. Lastly, we discuss the challenges and future directions of clinical application of deep learning techniques.

Abstract:Encouraging and astonishing developments have recently been achieved in image-based diagnostic technology. Modern medical care and imaging technology are becoming increasingly inseparable. However, the current diagnosis pattern of signal to image to knowledge inevitably leads to information distortion and noise introduction in the procedure of image reconstruction (from signal to image). Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that can mine knowledge from vast amounts of data offer opportunities to disrupt established workflows. In this prospective study, for the first time, we develop an AI-based signal-to-knowledge diagnostic scheme for lung nodule classification directly from the computed tomography (CT) raw data (the signal). We find that the raw data achieves almost comparable performance with CT, indicating that it is possible to diagnose diseases without reconstructing images. Moreover, the incorporation of raw data through three common convolutional network structures greatly improves the performance of the CT models in all cohorts (with a gain ranging from 0.01 to 0.12), demonstrating that raw data contains diagnostic information that CT does not possess. Our results break new ground and demonstrate the potential for direct signal-to-knowledge domain analysis.
