Abstract:Maxillofacial radiotherapy has a significant negative impact on oral health and impacted teeth often lead to diseases such as jaw cysts and periapical periodontitis. This article reports a case of jaw osteomyelitis (with both impacted teeth and periodontitis) occurring 10 years after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. There is no systematic treatment plan for patients with both pathogenic factors in clinical practice, so it is important to develop a systematic and complete treatment plan before radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The periodontal treatment of patients receiving radiotherapy and the timing of extraction of impacted teeth are mainly discussed.
