Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution and drug resistance of multidrug-resistant bacteria causing lower respiratory tract infections in children so as to provide basis for the reasonable clinical use of antibiotics.METHODS The deep throat sputum specimens were sampled from the children with lower respiratory tract infections who were hospitalized between Jan and Dec 2012,then the identification of the strains was performed with the use of VITEK-32automatic identification system of BioMerieux,France, the drug susceptibility testing was carried out by K-B method, and the distribution and drug resistance of the isolated multidrug-resistant bacteria were retrospectively studied.RESULTS A total of 732strains of pathogenic bacteria were isolated, among which there were 141(19.3%)strains of multidrug-resistant bacteria;the extended spectrumβ-lactamases(ESBLs)producing Escherichia coli(47.5%),ESBLs-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae(42.6%),and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)(6.4%)ranked the top three multidrug-resistant bacteria. The drug resistance rates of the ESBLs-producing E.coli and K.pneumoniae to cefazolin, cefotaxime, and ampicillin were 100.0%;the drug resistance rates of MRSA to ampicillin,amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, and clindamycin were 100.0%.CONCLUSIONThe ESBLs-producing E.coli and K.pneumoniae are the predominant multidrug-resistant bacteria causing lower respiratory tract infections in children,it is necessary to strengthen the monitoring of multidrugresistant bacteria so as to prevent the emergence of drug resistant strains.
