Abstract:In this paper we shall establish some results on weak convergence for vector-valued continuous random processes, among which are vector-valued sub-Gaussian processes, vector-valued random processes satisfying Lipschitz conditions, and random Fourier series with vector-valued coefficients. The results obtained can be considered as corresponding extensions of those in the real setting. Our basic ideas stem from Fernique's recent works.

Abstract:Abstract We give here an almost sure central limit theorem for self-normalized partial sums of a strictly stationary φ-mixing sequences which is in the domain of attraction of the normal law with mean zero and possibly infinite variance. Our result substantially extend a result on the almost sure central limit theorem previously obtained by Huang and Pang (2010).

Abstract: Let $\{X, X_n, n\geq 1\}$ be a sequence of independent identically distributed non-degenerate random variables. Put $S_0=0, S_n = \sum^n_{i=1} X_i$ and $V_n^2=\sum^n_{i=1} X_i^2, n\ge 1.$ A weak convergence theorem is established for the self-normalized partial sums processes $\{S_{[nt]}/V_n, 0\le t\le 1\}$ when $X$ belongs to the domain of attraction of a stable law with index $\alpha \in (0,2]$. The respective limiting distributions of the random variables ${\max_{1\le i\le n}|X_i|}/{S_n}$ and ${\max_{1\le i\le n}|X_i|}/{V_n}$ are also obtained under the same condition.

Abstract:Let {Xn;n ≥ 1} be a sequence of independent random variables on a probability space (Ω,F,P) and $${S_n} = \sum\nolimits_{k = 1}^n {{X_k}} $$. It is well-known that the almost sure convergence, the convergence in probability and the convergence in distribution of Sn are equivalent. In this paper, we prove similar results for the independent random variables under the sub-linear expectations, and give a group of sufficient and necessary conditions for these convergence. For proving the results, the Levy and Kolmogorov maximal inequalities for independent random variables under the sub-linear expectation are established. As an application of the maximal inequalities, the sufficient and necessary conditions for the central limit theorem of independent and identically distributed random variables are also obtained.

Abstract:In this paper we shall prove the weak convergence of the associated diffusion processes of regular subspaces with monotone characteristic sets for a fixed Dirichlet form. More precisely, given a fixed 1-dimensional diffusion process and a sequence of its regular subspaces, if the characteristic sets of regular subspaces are decreasing or increasing, then their associated diffusion processes are weakly convergent to another diffusion process. This is an extended result of [14].

Let S n = X 1+⋯+X n and ${}^{{{\left( r \right)}}}S_{n} = S_{n} - {\left( {X^{{{\left( 1 \right)}}}_{n} + \cdots + X^{{{\left( r \right)}}}_{n} } \right)}.$Sufficient and necessary conditions for (r) S n approximating to sums of independent normal random variables are obtained. Via approximation results, the convergence rates of the strong law of large numbers for (r) S n are studied.

In this article, we give some asymptotic weak dependence conditions for the convergence in distribution of the point process $$N_{n}=\sum_{j=1}^{n}\delta_{X_{j,n}}$$ to an infinitely divisible point process. From the point process convergence we obtain the convergence in distribution of the partial sum sequence Sn=∑j=1nXj,n to an infinitely divisible random variable whose Lévy measure is related to the canonical measure of the limiting point process. As examples, we discuss the case of triangular arrays which possess known (row-wise) dependence structures, like the strong mixing property, the association, or the dependence structure of a stochastic volatility model.

Long-time weak convergence analysis of a semi-discrete scheme for stochastic Maxwell equations

Abstract:It is known from the monograph [1, Chapter 5] that the weak convergence analysis of numerical schemes for stochastic Maxwell equations is an unsolved problem. This paper aims to fill the gap by establishing the long-time weak convergence analysis of the semi-implicit Euler scheme for stochastic Maxwell equations. Based on analyzing the regularity of transformed Kolmogorov equation associated to stochastic Maxwell equations and constructing a proper continuous adapted auxiliary process for the semi-implicit scheme, we present the long-time weak convergence analysis for this scheme and prove that the weak convergence order is one, which is twice the strong convergence order. As applications of this result, we obtain the convergence order of the numerical invariant measure, the strong law of large numbers and central limit theorem related to the numerical solution, and the error estimate of the multi-level Monte Carlo estimator. As far as we know, this is the first result on the weak convergence order for stochastic Maxwell equations.
