Abstract:Wavelet packet transform is further expansion of wavelet transform theory.Signals may be decomposed into different frequency section by wavelet packet transform method.Emulation study results show that wavelet packet transform has a series of good characteristics while other analysis methods do not have.The method is a very effective filtering method.

Abstract:After taking the characteristic of an embedded system into consideration,a traditional method based on a convolution for digital frequency weighting was analyzed.In order to meet the requirements of high precision and long filter coefficient,the calculation amount increased dramatically,an optimization scheme based on overlapping and adding DFT was presented.Its realization process was analyzed theoretically.The total compatation amount of both schemes were compared and discussed.The optimization scheme was simulated with MATLAB and tested on a platform of an embedded system.The results showed that both two methods can be used to get the same results;the method based on overlapping and adding DFT has a better performance as the filter coefficient becomes longer;the selection principle of schemes and parameters is acquired when both the filter coefficient and the length of a frame are known.

Then, based on the knowledge of this theory, we analyze the coeffient of wavelet transformation for digital image. In the end of this paper, an experimental example is given, and it proves the result that we have resented.

Abstract:Wavelet analysis is a time-frequency analysis method, which assume multiple resolution and multiple analysis characteristics. Moreover, it has the function of characterization of localization of signal. Therefore, it is credited with telescope in the mathematics. Compact-support orthogonal wavelets have linear phase except the Haar wavelet, so th finite impulse signal is decomposed and reconstructed using biorthogonal wavelets by Mallat algorithm. Basing on the principle of the principle of wavelet transform equivalent to band-pass filer in fequency domain, it is filtered using wavelet transform in the time domain. A mathematical model is attained to demonstrate it. Results illustrate that the unwanted waveforms are basically suppressed. In the case the order problem of biorthogonal spline wavelets is discussed.

Abstract:An automatic detection technique of nonstationary multiple oscillations in industrial control loops is proposed. The technique is based on an improved wavelet packet transform (WPT) which integrates Shannon Entropy, with a proposed non-Gaussianity test and quasi-intrinsic mode function index to automatically generate the wavelet packet decomposition structure. An optimal frequency resolution of the process data for oscillation detection purposes is obtained in a form of a binary tree. Comparative studies on simulated examples as well as industrial cases indicate that the proposed approach is robust to the nonstationary features of oscillations.

Abstract:It is always the emphasis of research about how to realize auto-focus quickly and effectively in imaging system. This paper put forward algorithms that can enhance edge features in images for improving auto-focus capability and compares the usual edge-enhance filters with wavelet-based filters. Experimental data shows that although both the usual edge-enhance filters and wavelet-based filters improve the focus capability the latter can detect slightly defocused images more effectively. Therefor they have a good future in application.

Abstract:The principle of wavelet transformation used to eliminate white noise is analyzed and it is tested that this method is not perfect in case of non-white noise.Combined with robust statistics,a robust wavelet transformation which can restrain the disturbance with contaminated distribution is studied to provide a practical multiscale robust filtering method.The result of simulation shows that this method is robust and effecient.

Abstract:In this paper, a new type of adaptive filtering algorithm, which can adaptively remove all kinds of noises from signals of analytical instruments under a variety of complex conditions, is proposed. At present, the popular filtering algorithms which are widely applied to the data processing equipment for analytical instrument are low-pass filter or band-pass filter. The fundamental of those filters depends on the fact that the frequency characteristics of real signals are different from those of noises. These filtering algorithms based on the different frequency distribution characteristics between signals and noises have an obvious defect, that is, users have to preset properly initial filter factors according to the width of peaks, which greatly influences the objectivity and veracity of computational results in analytical procedures. In the light of the wavelet transform modulus maximum theory proposed by Mallat, the characteristics of wavelet transform modulus maxima of real signals are distinctively different from those of noises in the practical signals of analytical instruments, such as chromatography. It is easy to identify them. Taking advantage of the different characteristics between real signals and noises on different scales in wavelet transformation domain, noises can be removed from the practical signals or analytical instruments while avoiding to distort the real signals. The adaptive filtering algorithm designed by this principle breaches the popular patterns of current filtering algorithms, and radically improves the filtering effects. A lot of tests using chromatography data prove that this algorithm has a serial of virtues, such as no requirement on artificially presetting filter factors, excellent separation of signals and noises, holding the position and height of peaks, and so on. Its performance in the robustness, adaptability and fidelity of peak completely satisfy the needs of signal processing for analytical instruments.

Abstract:The wavelet packet transform. (WPT) is studied as a tool of multiresolution analysis for electroanalytical chemistry responses. Together with the study of the feature of WPT for white noise, an adaptive wavelet filter which can select the optimum critical level of related frequency band automatically was developed for various signals with lower frequency band, such as voltammograms, chromatograms, FIA responses. This adaptive wavelet filter can also be applied in the case of power supply interference existing.

Abstract:A new method for pulse wave filter is proposed on the basis of wavelet transform soft-threshold denoising and wavelet adaptive algorithm in this paper. The wavelet soft-threshold filter and wavelet adaptive filter are made as combination filter system, after the high frequency noises are eliminated with wavelet soft-threshold denoising, the baseline drift is removed by wavelet adaptive filter, and then the clean pulse wave signals will be obtained. At last, through analysis the simulation and experimental wave's results and compare the practice parameters with traditional methods, it is proved that the advance and effectiveness of this new method.

Abstract:Digital signal is a function of time, which is some physical quantities long with time transformation, and the original signal is decomposed into a series of approximate component and details component by wavelet analysis. The wavelet transform is used in digital signal processing for simulation in MATLAB platform, and giving an example analysis. The result shows that the choice of suitable wavelet function makes the least amount of calculation, the high detection performance and the strong function. Abstract:The regularity of wavelet filters on image wavelet transform for compression and coding is analyzed. The experimental results show that, for a flat image, the higher the regularity order is, the more concentrated is the information; but for a cross-grained image, this is not the case. In addition, the phase shift and boundary processing were also studied. The author considers that forward-period extension in decomposition and backward-period extension in reconstruction of signal are good strategy as it can keep the length and phase shift of the signal unchangeable.

Abstract:The length of decomposition results of traditional wavelet packet transform (WPT) will decrease by half in the next level for downsampling, then the length of sequences in the last level will become very short, and this is very inconvenient for further analysis of these sequences. One kind of WPT based on convolution definition is put forward, its fast decomposition and reconstruction algorithms are given, and the outstanding characteristic of this convolution WPT is that no matter how many levels a signal is decomposed, the length of sequences got in every level will never decrease and can always keep the same as that of the original signal, so the defect of traditional WPT is overcome. For traditional WPT, to achieve the same effect of direct decomposition of convolution WPT, reconstruction operation must be done and the calculation will greatly increase. Based on the length invariance property of convolution WPT, a noise reduction algorithm is proposed, and signal processing example shows that its denoising performance is better than that of traditional WPT, and also much better than that of wavelet transform.

Abstract:We employ optical wavelet packet transform (OWPT) to propose an opto-electronic system based on volume holography to select the best bases of image banks for image compression, because of the superior processing ability to optical wavelet transform and the potentiality in new application fields. The simulation results show that the best bases chosen are the same as the bases selected by discrete wavelet packet transform (DWPT).Because DWPT is time consuming, especially when the volume of image bank is very large, processing time can be greatly shortened by OWPT.

Abstract:This paper presents a new approach for signal processing method based on Matrix Pencil method, which is effective for exponential signal. The principle of Matrix Pencil method is based on the singular value decomposition (SVD), and the characteristics of the singular value are analysed for the high Signal-to-Noise (SNR). If reduced gradient of the singular value is less than the threshold value, the part of signal should be subdivision by wavelet packet, and then make it fusion with the result of Matrix Pencil method. The simulation results show that the improved signal processing method based on Matrix Pencil method has significant filtering effect and less restrictive applied field.

Abstract:The most widely used basis selection algorithm for adaptive wavelet packets is the optimal basis selection method, which first grows a full wavelet packet tree and then prunes it into the optimal tree that gives the minimum cost. We observed that there exists the interscale embedding property in wavelet packet decomposition structures between interscale subbands along the same orientation. Based on this observation, we propose a fast basis selection algorithm by first decomposing a dyadic wavelet subband with the decomposition structure of its parent subband, before applying the optimal basis selection method for further decomposition. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm generates almost the same wavelet packet decomposition structures as the optimal basis selection method while significantly reducing the computational complexity for some image classes.
Adaptive Fault Feature Extraction Based on Stationary Wavelet Packet Decomposition and Hilbert Transform

Abstract:A fault detection algorithm is proposed to adaptively extract the characteristic component of fault signals in this paper. The algorithm used one-level stationary wavelet packet transform to decompose the signal into low- and high-frequency subbands, whose instantaneous frequency and instantaneous amplitude are calculated by Hilbert transform at the same time. Based on the preset rules of component extraction and signal decomposition, the algorithm adaptively selects the path of stationary wavelet packet decomposition, building the wavelet packet decomposition tree of the signal with a multiresolution spectral analysis. Thus the algorithm denoiseds the signal and extracts the characteristic components for fault detection. The simulation show that the algorithm provides sufficient frequency-amplitude fault information with the less computational workloads and data storage spaces. The algorithm also has a good anti-noise performance.

Abstract:Wavelet transfer (WT) is a powerful technique in signal separation. It is very easy for WT to separate random noise from useful signals, and to increase signal to noise ratio. By introducing the WT into factor analysis (FA) technique, a novel algorithm named wavelet transfer based smoothing principal component analysis (WTBSPCA) was proposed. The algorithm involves both the orthogonal decomposition of common principal. component analysis (PCA) and the smoothing ability of WT. A simulated data set and an experimental data set were investigated by this method, the results showed that WTBSPCA could extract useful signals from the data, with low signal to noise ratio, and enhance the signal to noise ratio. The results of iteration target transfer factor analysis (ITTFA) demonstrated that the WTBSPCA was superior to PCA.
