Abstract:Cyclohexanone diethyl acetal is widely used as pharmaceutical intermediates, and it may be pyrolyzed to give 1-ethoxy cyclohexene which could be used in synthesizing both polymer material and pharmaceutical intermediates. Cyclohexanone diethyl acetal was prepared from cyclohexanone with anhydrous ethanol as reactant, ammonium chloride as catalyst, triethyl orthoformate as water scavenger. The proposed method, which is preferable for green process, has many advantages such as the catalyst used is cheap and easily obtained, the post treatment of the process is convenient, the process has few industrial waste and high yield, etc. The suitable technical conditions were investigated in detail, which include the effects of catalyst, reaction time and reactants mole ratio on yield. The results indicate that 91.8% yield could be obtained with the following optimal reaction conditions: cyclohexanone weight 29.4 g (0.3 mol), the mole ratio of cyclohexanone and triethyl orthoformate 1:1.2, the mole ratio of cyclohexanone and anhydrous ethanol 1: 3, the reaction time 90 minutes, the amount of catalyst 0.006 mole, and reaction with reflux. The purity and structure of the product was examined by GC GC-MS and NMR.

Abstract:Trinexapac-ethyl was synthesized in a four-step process involving condensation, cyclization, esterification,and rearrangement using maleic acid diethyl esters and acetone as starting materials. Synthesis conditions were opti-mized for each step. Overall yield was 50.4%. Both intermediates and title compound were analyzed by GC-MS.

Abstract:The synthesis of 2, 4-diisopropyl-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane through the acetalization of isobutyraldehyde with 2, 2, 4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol (TMPD) catalyzed by the novel carbon based acid was first carried out. High conversion (≥98%) and specific selectivity were obtained using the novel carbon based acid, which kept high activity after it was reused 5 times. Moreover, the catalyst could be used to catalyze the acetalization and ketalization of different aldehydes and ketones with superior yield. The yield of several products was over 90%. The novel heterogeneous catalyst has the distinct advantages of high activity, strikingly simple workup procedure, non-pollution, and reusability, which will contribute to the success of the green process greatly.

Abstract:The novel carbon-based acid catalyst has been applied to catalyzing the acetalization and ketalization. The results showed that the catalyst was very efficient with the average yield over 93%. Abstract:A series ofα,α'-bis(substituted benzylidene)cycloalkanones were synthesized by condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes with cyclohexanone ketal or cyclopentanone ketal using strong-acid cation exchange resin Amberlyst 15 as catalyst in ethanol media. The reactions were completed during 2~6 h with 80%~92%yields. The structure of the products was characterized by IR, 1HNMR, MS and the melting point. The products were convenient to work up. This process is simple, efficient, environmentally benign and without any self-condensation.

Abstract:The novel multi-SO 3 H functionalized strong Brønsted acidic ionic liquid has been prepared and its catalytic activities were investigated through the acetalization. The results showed that the novel catalyst was very efficient for the reaction with the average yield over 90% under solvent-free condition at room temperature. Operational simplicity, without need of any solvent, a small amount of usage, low cost of the catalyst used, high yields, applicability to large-scale reactions and reusability are the key features of this methodology. The novel catalyst also has great potential for the green process.

Experimental results showed that this catalyst has good activity to dehydration. This method could prevent the envrironmental pollution caused by concentrate sulphuric acid as catalyst. It also has high yield and purity. The catalyst can be used repatedly.

Abstract:α,β-Unsaturated acids were important intermediates in organic synthesis.The Knoevenagel condensation reacion under piperazine hexahydrate catalysis has been studied through reaction of various aldehydes and malonic acid,and a serious of products α,β-unsaturated acids were obtained.The structures were identified by the analysis of 1HNMR,13CNMR,IR and MS.The advantages of this procedure were that small amount of catalyst,low reaction temperature,short reaction time and high yields(85%～95%) were observed.Moreover,the catalyst was cheap,safe and low toxic.

Abstract:Axially chiral tetrasubstituted alkenes are of increasing value and interest in chemistry‐related areas. However, their catalytic asymmetric synthesis remains elusive, due to the high steric repulsion and relatively low conformational stability. Herein, we disclose the straightforward construction of atropisomeric tetrasubstituted alkenes via an effective enantiocontrol of vinyl cations. This copper‐catalyzed enantioselective C(sp2)–H functionalization of sterically hindered (hetero)arenes with vinyl cations enables the efficient and atom‐economical preparation of axially chiral acyclic tetrasubstituted styrenes and pyrrolyl ethylenes with high atroposelectivities. Importantly, this reaction represents the first example for the assembly of axially chiral alkenes through vinyl cation approach. Computational mechanistic studies reveal the reaction mechanism, origin of regioselectivity, Z/E selectivity and enantioselectivity. The synthetic utility has been demonstrated by diverse product derivatizations, chiral organocatalyst synthesis, as well as further applications in asymmetric catalysis.

Abstract:In the past two decades, substantial advances have been made on the asymmetric alkyne functionalization by the activation of inert alkynes. However, these asymmetric transformations have so far been mostly limited to transition metal catalysis, and chiral Bronsted acid-catalyzed examples are rarely explored. Here, we report a chiral Bronsted acid-catalyzed dearomatization reaction of phenol- and indole-tethered homopropargyl amines, allowing the practical and atom-economical synthesis of a diverse array of valuable fused polycyclic enones and indolines bearing a chiral quaternary carbon stereocenter and two contiguous stereogenic centers in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities and generally excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% enantiomeric excess). This protocol demonstrates Bronsted acid-catalyzed asymmetric dearomatizations via vinylidene-quinone methides.
Regioselective Synthesis of Acyclic Cis-Enediynes Via an Acid-Catalyzed Rearrangement of 1,2-Dialkynylallyl Alcohols. Syntheses, Computational Calculations, and Mechanism

Abstract:A novel synthesis of acyclic cis-enediynes 2 has been established by an acid-catalyzed rearrangement of 1,2-diyn-2-propen-1-ols 1 possessing a C-3-aryl group in the presence of water, alcohols, or thiols. Reactivity of allyl alcohols and regio- and cis/trans diastereoselectivity of the allylic migration were examined. In the presence of(+/-)-10-camphorsulfonic acid (CSA), the parent allyl alcohol 5 and the C-3-methyl-substituted 9 failed to give enediynes, whereas the C-3-aryl-substituted 12 and 29 underwent the allylic rearrangement to provide predominantly cis-enediynes 16 and 31 at room temperature or below. Under similar acidic conditions, enediyne alcohol 13 produced 16b and 16d with the same regio and cis/trans diastereoselectivity observed for 12. Allyl alcohol 30, an isomer of 29, also provided enediynes 31c and 32c after a prolonged reaction (90 h) at room temperature in the presence of CSA and EI;OH. These results suggested that the same allylic cations were obtained from allyl alcohols 12 and 13 or 29 and 30 even though the ease of ionization differed for each substrate. Involvement of allylic cations in the product-forming step was confirmed by the finding that chiral allyl alcohols (-)-12 and (-)-18c furnished racemic products. In general, the p-MeOPh-substituted allyl alcohol 29 gave a better regioselectivity than the Ph-substituted 12. In the reactions with alcohols, the regioisomeric ratios were 100:0 (31:33) for 29 and ca. 96:4 (16:17) for 12; the ratios decreased to ca. 90:10 (31:33) for 29 and ca. 10:30 (16:17) for 12 when thiols were used. The cis/trans diastereoselectivity is higher for allyl alcohol 12 (100% for 16 at 20 degrees C) compared to that for 29 (31:32 = 80:20-94:6 at 0 degrees C). Computational calculations at the RHF/3-21G level, carried out on the model compounds and allylic cations, indicated that nucleophilic trapping takes place preferentially at the Cg carbon to form the thermodynamically much more stable enediynes. Under the best reaction conditions (1 equiv of CSA and 2 equiv of EtOH in CH2Cl2, 20 degrees C), a number of acyclic cis-enediynes can be synthesized in three steps from the commercially available alpha-bromocinnamaldehyde (10).

Abstract:Synthesis of organic esters using olefins as feedstock not only avoids some disadvantages caused by the esterification of alcohols and carboxylic acids but also has important significance for the high-value utilization of olefins. In this study, Zn-substituted germanium tungstic acid (ZnaH4-2aGeW, a = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1.0) and silicotungstic acid (ZnaH4-2aSiW, a = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1.0) catalysts were prepared and used to catalyze the addition-esterification of 1-hexene to synthesize sec-hexyl acetate. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were analyzed using various characterization techniques. The results indicate that Zn0.25H3.5GeW and Zn0.25H3.5SiW have excellent catalytic activity in the series of Zn-substituted germanium tungstic acid and silicotungstic acid salt catalysts, respectively. Moreover, the catalytic activity of Zn0.25H3.5GeW is higher than that of Zn0.25H3.5SiW due to its higher Bronsted acidity. When the conversion of 1-hexene catalyzed by Zn0.25H3.5GeW and Zn0.25H3.5SiW is basically the same by controlling reaction conditions, it was found that the selectivity of sec-hexyl acetate was closely related to the adsorption capacity of the catalyst for acetic acid molecules. Under the conditions of 90 degrees C, 12 h, 0.4 g catalysts, and a reactant molar ratio of 2.0, the 1-hexene conversion and sec-hexyl acetate selectivity using Zn0.25H3.5GeW as the catalyst are 97.4% and 50.3%, respectively. Sec-hexyl acetate was synthesized by the addition-esterification of 1-hexene using Zn-substituted germanium tungstic acid and silicotungstic acid catalysts.

Abstract:It is one of the most attractive types of asymmetric synthesis that chiral commpounts are generated under the influence of chiral catalysts. In recent years catalytic asymmetric Michael addition by chiral metal complexes has been recognized as an efficient method for obtaining asymmetric products. In this work we reported that using potassium thiazolidine-2-thione-4-carboxylate [(R)-TTCA (.) K] as the chiral catalyst, the addition reaction of cyclohexanone with acrylonitrile was carried out and optically active (S)-(+)-2-cyanoethyl cyclohexanone 1 ([alpha](D)(20) = +2.8degrees, e. e. 19%) and hydrolysis product of 1, (S)-(-)-2-oxocyclohexanepropionic acid 2 ([alpha](D)(20) = -2.95degrees, e. e. 19%), were obtained. Enantiomeric excess of compound 1 was determined by resolution of (R,S)-2-oxocyclohexanepropionic acid with (-)-quinine. Compounds 1 and 2 were easily racemized at a long time for laying aside and in the presence of dil H2SO4 or dil base. When (S)-(+)-2-cyanoethyl cyclohexanone reacts with ethylene glycol in the presence of toluene sulfonic acid as the catalyst the racemic 2-ethylendioxy cyclohexyl propionitrile was obtained. The mechanism of the reaction of cyclohexanone with acrylonitrile would be a complicated catalysis process.

Abstract:Under conditions of room temperature,solvent- free and ultrasonic irradiation,with an aromatic aldehyde and acetic anhydride as starting materials and functionalized acidic ionic liquid [C3SO3Hnhm][HSO4]as catalyst,1,1- diacetates was synthesized. The optimal reaction conditions were found by single factor experiments. Reusing performance of the catalyst as well as applicability of the substrate were investigated.Results showed that when the molar ratio of benzaldehyde and acetic anhydride is 1 ∶ 2. 3; the reaction temperature is 20 ℃; ultrasonic irradiation applies for 15 min; and the dosage of catalyst is 1% of benzaldehyde; the yield can reach more than 96%. The catalyst [C3SO3Hnhm][HSO4]can be reused for 5times with no significant declining of the catalytic activity. In case the catalyst [C3SO3Hnhm][HSO4]is used to catalyze the reaction of other aromatic aldehydes,the yield achieves 84%- 98%.

Abstract:Objective To prepare(2E,6E)-octadiene-3,7-dimethyldiol-1acetate.Methods The target compound was synthesized by five steps(acetylating,addition-elimination,replacement,oxidation and rearrangement)with geraniol.Results The desired product was obtained in over all yield of 49.7% and its structure was confirmed by 1H-NMR and IR.Conclusions A new route for the synthesis of (2E,6E)-octadiene-3,7-dimethyldiol-1acetate was explored.

Abstract:A highly efficient protocol was developed for the synthesis of fructone spice from the ketalization of ethyl acetoacetate with ethylene glycol utilizing the sulfonated polydivinylbenzene (PDVB-SO 3 H) solid acid catalyst. A comparative analysis revealed that PDVB-SO 3 H exhibited better catalytic activity and reusability than conventional H 2 SO 4 and p -toluene sulfonic acid. The impact of reaction conditions, including temperature, reaction time, catalyst dosage, and molar ratio of reactants, was extensively investigated in order to optimize the reaction parameters. The results revealed the remarkable catalytic efficiency of PDVB-SO 3 H in synthesizing apple ester flavor, achieving a conversion rate exceeding 99% under reflux conditions with a ketone to alcohol ratio of 1.5. Furthermore, PDVB-SO 3 H solid acid demonstrated its versatility by enhancing the synthesis of a variety of fruit ketone flavors with high conversion rates. Notably, the catalyst displayed excellent recyclability, remaining active for up to six cycles without any noticeable decline in performance. Therefore, PDVB-SO 3 H solid acid exhibits immense potential for utilization in the chemical industry.

Abstract:In this work, a novel synthesis of monoterpenic acetate esters potentially valuable as flavoring agents was developed. It involves the reactions of 1,4-cineole and 1,8-cineole with acetic anhydride giving the desired products in 80–88 % total yields. The process is performed under ambient conditions in green solvents such as methyl isobutyl ketone, methyl ethyl ketone, dimethyl carbonate or diethyl carbonate in the presence of acidic cesium salt of phosphotungstic acid, Cs 2.5 H 0.5 PW 12 O 40 , as an efficient solid acid catalyst. The catalyst is stable toward leaching in the reaction system and can be reused. The process produces mixtures of acetate esters with different flavor bouquets which can be used directly as ingredients in fragrance compositions without separating individual compounds.
