Abstract:Based on the statistic analysis of highway construction accidents in the past, the characteristics of these kinds of accidents are summarized. It was concluded that the occurrence of highway construction accidents are influenced by the combination of the geological conditions, the external environment of society, the runaway of construction machinery and the subjective errors of constructors. The relation among these factors is analyzed by the theory of accident causation in safety ergonomics. Aiming at the inducements, the pre-controlling mode for highway construction safety is provided. Main causes, construction process and emergency rescue methods are monitored and evaluated. Finally, pre-controlling measures are established by pre-warning analysis so as to reduce the loss caused by highway construction accidents to the minimum.

Abstract:There may be various risks in a major bridge construction, to adequately predict the risks, reasonably determine the risk management mechanism, share the duty, perfect the contracts and properly pass the risks are the premises to achieve a better management of a project. With reference to the example of the 4th Qiantangjiang River Bridge Project, the specific applications of risk management and insurance to the major bridge project are studied.

Abstract:With the high-speed development of railway construction and the growing scale of investment projects,it is essential to enhancing management level of reducing engineering cost and to emphasizing on claiming for compensation during construction.This article uses the concrete example of capacity expansion reform on signaling engineering in the Shaba Line to fully reveal the specific process and the importance of the claiming for compensation,and highlight the timeliness and accurate claim ammout in the claim works.The successful implementation on the claiming for compensation can help us gain some management with great efficiency in the railway construction,which will create a harmonious environment for nation and enterprise,thus can we achieve double wins in microscopic and macroscopic aspects.

Abstract:The main controlling target for tunneling beneath expressway is that the subsidence of the road should be within a certain limit to ensure regular operation of the road. It is very important to choose a reasonable construction method for such projects. Therefore, selection of reasonable tunneling schemes and control of strata subsidence are greatly important to control the impact on existing roads within an allowed limit. In this chapter, the underground engineering stable equilibrium theory and corresponding techniques were applied to the case of an undercrossing tunnel.

Abstract:The highway engineering process is complex, coupled with a relatively long construction period, hence requires increased coordination between participating units to prevent economic disputes and efficiency losses. The main body of the construction project needs to strengthen the management and control of funds. In this regard, this paper analyzes the importance of cost management in highway projects by clarifying and analyzing the current cost management status quo problems and causes. The highway engineering cost control strategy and implementation methods are summarized to provide references for improving the quality of highway engineering.

In the construction of civil engineering construction, it is necessary to make full preparations, rationally deploy materials, equipment and other resources to ensure the full implementation of construction technology, and further enhance the overall effect of engineering construction. Abstract:With the rapid development of China's economy, the state has put forward higher requirements for urban and rural construction planning. The construction of municipal roads has entered a high-quality development stage. However, affected by the construction environment, construction period, facilities, and other factors, municipal road construction still has a series of quality problems. This paper focuses on problems in municipal road construction, analyzing issues comprehensively from the perspectives of construction management systems, construction safety supervision, and equipment management. Countermeasure proposals are then provided to address these issues and improve the safety management of municipal engineering projects. The insights gained also offer valuable references for the construction management of municipal road projects in the industry. In conclusion, this paper aims to identify and address key challenges in municipal road construction through a comprehensive analysis of construction management, safety supervision, and equipment management. The proposed countermeasures not only contribute to enhancing the safety management of municipal engineering projects but also offer valuable insights for the industry's overall construction management of municipal road projects.

Abstract:With the development of theory and practice of the international project claim management, the contractor carrying out the contract claims is no longer based solely on the contract agreement, but rather towards the combination of contractual and legal trends. In FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Civil Engineering Construction (Red Book, 1987 edition), there has a more comprehensive description and requirements of the rights of the employer, engineer and the contractor. So the specific acts of the parties involved the contract may result in "Breach of Contract" and trigger claims of time and cost. In this paper, according to a further analysis of a series of claim cases based on the Red Book we have studied the background of the contractual and legal of "Breach of Contract" in depth.

Abstract:The urban area in many cities around the world is frequently intricate with various types of utilities beneath road right-of-way. The large quantities of utilities make it a big challenge for transportation authority to effectively manage and operate road services. Ineffective management of road right-of-way often leads to frequent road excavations, disruptions to urban transportation and even accidents of injuries and deaths. This study investigates some key issues in enhancing effective management of road right-of-way in urban areas, including a comprehensive literature review on existing management procedures and vehicles, an improved methodology for utilizing road underground space, and a prototype of a utility management system to implement the methodology. The trial result of the methodology and the prototype proves the usefulness of the methodology and system in effective managing road underground space. Outputs of this study would shed useful insights on appropriate policies to be established on the side of the government and workable codes of practice to be implanted on the side of industry.
