Abstract:In this paper, based on the analysis of white noise generation, equably distributed pseudo-random numbers are generated by a method of mixed congruency. In the case that the pseudo-random numbers are taken as the phase spectrum and the amplitude spectrum is equally set, the waveform array of frequency-domain is made up. The array is transformed from frequency-domain to time-domain by the IFFT before stored into the external data memory. Based on the wave generating technology of DDS, the timer interruption of DSP2812 is installed to change the frequency for generating wave. Then the number is taken out from the external memory. The limited white noise is formed by the way of D/A and zero-section maintenance. This generator can be used as signal source in the noise simulation experiment.

Abstract:A kind of intelligent signal generator based on direct digital synthesizer technology is proposed in my paper. MCU AT89C51 is adopted to control DDS chip AD9850 to produce the sine signal which frequency may be adjusted. The pure signal can be obtained through the low pass filter,and then target signal is drove by the power amplifier. The signal generator was applied to measure instrument of deformation of power transformer windings for generating the sine signal which frequency during 1KHZ-1MHZ is able to be adjusted automatically. This generator,has such advantages as high frequency precision,wide frequency range,and quickly facilitate and so on.

Abstract:Background: Signal generator plays a crucial role in the field of automatic measurement. However, Domestic signal generator usually uses a number of discrete phases locked loop components, whose circuits are usually complex with low precision and are easily affected by the external environment. Objective: Based on direct digital synthesis (DDS) technology, a small sized high precision economic waveform generator with a simple structure and operational convenience is developed. Methodology: The hardware circuit is designed with an AT89S52 controller, and the corresponding peripheral circuit. A DDS integrated chip AD9834 is employed as a signal source, and the modular programming principle with C and assembly language is used to accomplish the software design, through which the sine wave, square wave, triangular wave signals with adjustable amplitude, frequency, and TTL signal with adjustable duty ratio can be generated. Conclusion: The whole system is advantageous with several aspects such as high frequency precision, wide frequency range, and operational convenience. The experimental results show that the stability and reliability of the waveform generator are good with a simple hardware circuit structure.

Abstract:The system of arbitrary waveform generator and its software design based on direct digital synthesizer(DDS) technology have been discussed in detail.A theoretical analysis of the system performance is also given.The multi-waveform generator adopts direct digital frequency,or DDS as the center,which is controlled by AT89C51 to output waveform.Then,it can preset up frequency and step to adjust the step of voltage output frequency.This system has features of compact module,simple circuit,powerful functions and flexible expansion.Digital signal are used to overcome the shortcomings of analog signal,that is,analog signal have large amount of redundancy and are not easy to deal with.The system can run reliably in practice.

Abstract:Due to the questions of the low frequency resolution,the slow frequency conversion speed,the long cycle of development and update of the signal generator,a multi-function signal generator,which is based on DDS technology,is designed and implemented with four pipeline technique and EDA tool.The error analysis of DDS is given in the paper.The experiment results show: The system is simple and reliable and can generate sine wave,square wave,triangular wave and saw tooth wave;The frequency range of waves is between 0.01 Hz and 40 MHz,frequency resolution comes up to 0.01 Hz and frequency accuracy is less than ±0.1%,It has the characteristics of high frequency resolution,fast processing speed and flexible output.

Abstract:There are studies indicate that audible sound wave could have effects on propagation growth through catalyzing hearing sense organs, which would bring a series of physiological and biological chemistry reaction. The sound-pressure level and frequency are important factors in propagation growth. In this study, an experimental system of audio generator was developed for investigating sound wave effect on propagation growth promotion, and an embedded development platform based on ARM+DSP+FPGA was built for the system. The DDFS (Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis) method was used to make various waveforms in the system. A feedback analysis networks was added in the system for reliable output of sound waves. Results show that the audio generator system can produce sound waves with frequency of 20 Hz similar to 20,000Hz accurately and make octave analysis of the sound in experimental environments. The new-type audio generator system will facilitate scientific researches on the field of acoustic biology.

Abstract:Deep-scaled CMOS technologies have provided ultra-high speed devices for implementing integrated millimeter wave and sub-millimeter wave system-on-a-chip (SoC). Achieving SoC necessitates key mm-wave/sub-mm-wave circuits, including signal generators and amplifiers. The paper will exemplify some of the key circuits in CMOS technologies, including a terahertz oscillator, a 450 GHz voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), a 200 GHz frequency divider, and a 200 GHz amplifier. With the availability of key building blocks, mm-wave/sub-mm-wave SoC will be realized in the near future.

Abstract:A FM signal generator with digital modulation function is presented.It uses Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)as its main hardware and Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer(DDS)technique combined with embedded Phase-lockod Loop(PLL).This design was implement in an AItam Cyclone breadboard.Through being debugged,its frequency reso- lution is 0.596 Hz and the maximum output frequency is 10 MHz.Meanwhile,it has a continu- ous output phase and a high noise immunity.

Abstract:DDS is characterized by high frequency resolution,rapid frequency switching and low phase noise.Basic theory and main performance of AD9956,the product of ADI Corporation,are introduced in this paper.A fast speed frequency synthesizer of frequency hopping communications is designed by the chip AD9956.The result of the measurement is as follows: the spurious is less than-80 dBc,the time of hopping frequency is less than 100ns.Based on the results of the experiment,the distributing rules of the spurious noise of the DDS and the method of reducing it are analysed and summarized at last.

Abstract:A 70-78-GHz integrated frequency synthesizer is implemented in 65-nm CMOS. It has been integrated in a two-step zero-IF millimeter-wave transceiver for emerging applications, such as 81-86-GHz satellite communication, short-distance high-speed wireless link, as well as imaging and radar. The transceiver utilizes synthesizer voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) output as the first LORF and 1/8 of LORF as the second LOIF to cover the desired frequency band. The proposed synthesizer adopts integer-architecture with 50-MHz reference. It also features coarse phase rotation to provide beam-forming capability for the intended transceiver. The synthesizer phase noise (PN) has been measured at 1/8 of the VCO frequency, about -102.2 dBc Hz @ 1-MHz offset, and the measured reference spur for LOIF is less than -49 dBc. Thus, the extrapolated PN performance is better than -84 dBc Hz @ 1-MHz at 70-78 GHz LORF. The embedded frequency synthesizer occupies 0.16-mm(2) chip area, including the angular rotator and buffers, and consumes 65 mW under 1-V supply.

Abstract:A new type of signal generator was designed for growing production and research,which used advanced AD9954 chip as the core.With AT89C51 microcontroller as the controller of system,the keyboard and LCD display as the human-machine interface,then amplify the voltage signal which is coverted from current signal and removed interference at all levers.All of the traditional waveform signal,FSK series signal,PSK series signal,a one-way linear frequency sweep signal and continuous unidirectional sweep signals can be generated,and with high frequency,high stability,high accuracy,and anti-jamming capability advantages.Because of the advantages of simple structure,excellent performance,easy to use,low production cost,it is suitable for teaching,research and production needs of the market.
DDS Based Radar Signal Generator for Microwave Remote Sensing

Abstract:A system design of a Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) based radar signal generator is presented. The DDS technique has its inherent disadvantage in noise and spurious suppression, due to the all-digital structure. To overcome these disadvantages, we apply two efiective methods of a 3-order low-pass Butterworth fllter and the pre-distortion technique to greatly enhance the system performance. Microwave Remote Sensing (MRS) has become a targeted area of intensive research for its great application in diverse situations. Early MRS radar signal generators are analog devices with high- cost, short life, low reliability and low precision. At present, due to the advance of high-speed Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit (VLSI), the technique of Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) is being widely used to synthesize complex waveforms for applications in MRS. DDS makes it easy to precisely control and adjust the frequency, amplitude and phase of the required Chirp signals that are widely used in MRS. However, DDS technique has its inherent disadvantages in noise and spurious suppression, due to its all-digital structure. This paper presents a system design of a DDS signal generator for MRS. Besides, we put forward two methods to improve the spectrum purity. The flrst one is to design a low-pass fllter to improve the SNR, and the second one is to employ the pre-distortion method to make spectrum within band much ∞atter.

Abstract:In many experiments such as laser cooling of atoms, optical frequency standard and atomic interferometer,the voltage controlled oscillator （VCO） was usually used to shift laser frequency in the past,but its accuracy and stability could not satisfy the demands of the experiments. In this paper, we have demonstrated a direct digital synthesizer （DDS）. It can be used in high-accuracy control system for laser frequency shift. This DDS is based on IC AD9852 and micro control unit （MCU）. Its amplified out- put can drive the acoustic optical modulator （AOM） directly to shift laser frequency. The Labview con- trol system operates on supervisory computer and controls the timing sequence accurately. Testing re- sults demonstrate that the signal generated by this device has low phase noise, narrow bandwidth below 5 Hz,high harmonic suppressing ratio higher than 30 dB,high frequency accuracy better than 10-7 and high timing accuracy shorter than 1μs. The control system has the friendly user interface. It has been used successfully for laser cooling of atoms and atomic fountain.

Abstract:A waveform generator was designed based on DDS (Direct digital frequency synthesis) and SOPC (System on a Programmable Chip). DDS technology is used to generate sine wave, square wave, triangular wave, amplitude modulation wave and other signals. Using VHDL and C programming, the DDS module and Nios II soft-core processor are integrated into the FPGA chip to enhance the expansibility. This design is verified by synthesis and simulation through Quartus II. Experiments show that output frequency range is 0 ~ 25.88 MHz, the voltage is 0 ~ 3.64 V, and the resolution reaches 0.5 Hz when the waveform has no significant distortion.

Abstract:High-frequency chaotic signal generators are of importance in chaotic communication systems, electronic counter measures and nonlinear signal processing. A new chaotic signal generator was developed using digital signal processing (DSP) and direct digital synthesis (DDS) techniques. The system uses digitized signal processing, has high frequency resolution and has fast frequency switching. This paper describes the design and implementation of the hardware and software. A vector signal analyzer was used to demodulate the chaotic signal generator output signal to verify its correctness. Test results show that this design is very effective.

Abstract:In order to meet the flexible signal generation requirements of modern radar systems, a polyphase parallel Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) waveform generator was designed. This paper includes the principle and simulation of linear frequency modulation signal (LFM). Then introducing the design method of circuit and testing it. The circuit uses Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and high-speed Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) as the hardware platform. With the chips programmable function, the generated waveform has the characteristics of adjustable parameters and large bandwidth. The parallel structure of the circuit reduces the processing clock and adapt to the high sampling clock. The waveform generator has been applied to practical projects in different fields because of its general function.

Abstract:As the core of FM exciter, this paper presents the design idea and method of digital FM exciter frequency control word,describes in detail the software design of QUARTUS combined MATLAB, demonstrates the feasibility of DDS and DSP Builder generating double channel sine signal source, completes the hardware and software design with ALTERA's FPGA platform. Compare with other ways to generate the frequency control word, QUARTUS Ⅱ with MATLAB joint realization is easy to debug, and reduces the hardware circuit debugging difficulty.
