Abstract:English reading is of vital significance in English learning. In proficiency tests such as CET-4, CET-6, IELTS and TOFEL, extensive reading accounts for a large proportion in scores. Those who do well in reading tend to get higher scores. However, the current English teaching situation doesn’t show its significance: the in-class time is limited with only two classes each week, and it’s difficult to decide appropriate textbooks for teachers. As a result, students can’t figure out the significance of extensive reading course and think little of it. Since the Internet appears in every aspect of our daily life, we can combine extensive reading course with the Internet. By using our spare time to reading fragmented information in English from the Internet selected and instructed by the teacher in any place, we bring fragmented reading into extensive reading teaching. In this paper, the author aims to assume a new teaching model concerning fragmented reading in details. Through this new teaching model, students can not only read English materials in classroom, but also after class in any place with their spare time. With much more input of English both in and out of class, their reading ability will be improved and they are more ready to deal with proficiency tests of all kinds. Meanwhile, students’ interests will be aroused and their horizons will be broadened, which are also helpful for students to pass all kinds of proficiency tests.

Abstract:The traditional college English intensive reading class is mostly taught by teachers, students are passive learners, and the learning atmosphere is serious and the study is inefficient, which cannot meet the high requirements of modern society for the practical knowledge and ability of contemporary college students. The traditional class education mode should now been changed. In English intensive reading class, students show negative participation or even non-participation, so the teacher has become the master of English class teaching. The communication between students and teachers in speech, behavior and emotion is not ideal, therefore, on the basis of the inability to interact, teaching becomes more boring, students are more reluctant to participate in it. To solve this problem, the author tries to analyze the internal factors that influence students’ effective participation in intensive reading class, and external factors affecting students’ effectiveness. The effective participation strategies are put forward.

Abstract:Context construction can more effectively put students into the scene and deepen their understanding of reading. The cultivation of students' comprehensive language use ability is the key teaching activity that English major teachers pay attention to. Language use is closely related to context construction, so it can be said that English teaching cannot leave context creation. In English class, 56.7% of the students have a deep sense of the teachers' frequent use of context creation, English songs, using facial expressions to do gestures and using objects to create context accounted for 41.3%, 33.7%, and 33.2, respectively. This shows that more than half of the students have a deep feeling about the use of multimedia for context creation. Aiming at the unreasonable design of context creation activities and other problems, this paper provides scientific strategies for teachers to start with modern English teaching. To promote students' understanding of reading and analyze the teaching effect based on intensive reading and extensive reading so as to improve the teaching quality.

Abstract:The High School English Curriculum Standard (2017 edition) states that it's crucial to cultivate core competences for students, which includes language ability, learning ability, cultural awareness and thinking quality. There is no doubt that critical thinking, as one of the key components of thinking quality, should be emphasized. However, due to the influence of examination-oriented education and other factors, most teachers tend to pay too much attention to the cultivation of students' language knowledge and language skills, neglecting the cultivation of students' critical thinking ability. The traditional mode of interpretation of language knowledge still dominates in most English reading teaching, teaching design tends to be modeled and text processing is so superficial that students can not understand the discourse deeply. Students in the classroom did not experience a deep thinking level of ability training. Therefore, teachers should think carefully about how to cultivate students’ critical thinking in high school English reading class and adjust their teaching methods accordingly. This paper will take the teaching design of a reading lesson as an example to explore how to cultivate students' critical thinking in high school reading class.

Abstract:The introduction of the concept of deep learning has led to a change in the way of learning, and a new teaching concept has been constructed from the aspects of learning content and overall understanding. In English, students must construct a comprehensive, detailed and systematic knowledge structure when reading and master language under the premise of deep thinking, and then absorb and internalize it through dialectical thinking. Practice shows that the combination of deep learning and senior high school English reading teaching conforms to the law of English teaching development, and is also an effective strategy to optimize and upgrade English reading teaching. Therefore, on the basis of summarizing the connotation and characteristics of deep learning, the author put forward targeted suggestions according to the existing problems.

Abstract:. As a key language competence, reading exerts a foundation role for English learners. Reading teaching plays a signiﬁcant role in language teaching as well. For traditional language teaching, reading teaching in senior high school focuses on the lecture-based, textbook-centered, and teacher-centered models, which diminishes students’ autonomy and motivation for learning. It is, therefore, the newly published National Curriculum Standards that emphasizes core literacy, including language ability, cultural awareness, thinking quality, and learning ability. Core literacy as a teaching goal facilitates students’ comprehensive and individual development and lays the base for lifelong learning. This thesis concentrates on a study in senior high school reading teaching based on core literacy. Firstly,it introduces deﬁnitions, theoretical background information, and elements of core literacy. Secondly, it mainly analyzes the concrete application from three aspects, such as teaching design, process, and reﬂection, concerning problems in senior high school reading teaching and requirements of National Curriculum Standards. And ﬁnally, this thesis proposes suggestions for senior high school reading teaching based on core literacy from the perspective of both teachers and students. This thesis concentrates on a study in senior high school reading teaching based on core literacy to explore effective ways to cultivate students’ reading abilities and optimize learning efﬁciency to enhance the effectiveness of senior high school English teaching.

Abstract:"English Reading" is a professional compulsory course combining theory with practice. This course covers English language knowledge, culture and literature knowledge, national knowledge, cross-cultural communication knowledge, basic knowledge of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, etc., aiming to improve students' reading efficiency and ability to obtain main information, especially text appreciation, rhetoric and critical thinking ability. The task of the lesson is to cultivate students' ability of discourse analysis, semantic appreciation, logical thinking, independent thinking and proficient communication, so as to make them become "application-oriented talents” of high-quality and with innovative consciousness and creative ability". The study aimed to correlate the reading comprehension of English linguistic students, then inform some pedagogical implications for the teaching of reading comprehension (Cuc Thi Kim Pham, 2017). Through the data analysis of an authoritative reading test officially organized by the university, the author found that a large proportion of students in sophomore year failed to perform well in the test and did not demonstrate excellent reading skills. The reasons are as follows: firstly, the "teacher-led role" is neglected in reading teaching; Secondly, students ignore discourse analysis in reading; thirdly, the students' understanding of vocabulary is limited to the meaning of completely equivalent Chinese; Fourth: Grammatical awareness is not strong. The author finds out the problems that students have in reading, and combines relevant cases to conduct in-depth discussions on these issues.

Abstract:Reading and appreciating literary works plays an important role in high school English quality education, which plays an important role in cultivating students' reading interest and improving students' reading quality. This article explores the application of intertextuality theory in the English reading practices of senior high school students. Preliminary findings indicate that while some students demonstrate a high level of proficiency in identifying overt intertextual references, others struggle to discern more subtle connections between texts. Moreover, students' interpretations of intertextuality often reflect their individual experiences, interests, and prior knowledge, highlighting the subjective nature of literary analysis. However, exposure to intertextuality theory and instructional strategies aimed at fostering intertextual awareness appear to positively influence students' reading comprehension and critical thinking abilities.

Abstract:Reading as a form of input can provide students with a good foreign language environment, allowing them to improve their vocabulary, master fixed expressions, use grammar rules flexibly and appreciate the beauty of cultural differences without having to leave home.To maximize the benefits of the English reading, this study is expected to explore the distinguished teaching design based on the author’ s own experience in the competition because there is still a long way to go given the fact that nothing is consummate. Krashen’s “input hypothesis” are chosen to be the theoretical basis of the study for its sweeping impact on the area of second language acquisition and foreign language teaching. Nowadays, many scholars in English teaching advocate task-based teaching method.
