Abstract:P3HT stands out from numerous polymer donors owing to the merits of low cost and high scalability of synthesis. However, the photovoltaic performance of P3HT-based blends lags significantly behind the state-of-the-art systems, especially for all-polymer solar cells (APSCs) that generally show efficiency of around 3%–4% due to the lack of matched polymer acceptors. Herein, a polymer acceptor, named IDTBTC8-CN, was designed and synthesized with indacenodithiophene (IDT) and mono-cyano (CN)-substituted benzothiadiazole (BT-CN) as building blocks. Introducing a CN group endowed the polymer with decreased bandgap, and apparent n-type charge transport character despite the relatively high energy levels. Additionally, IDTBTC8-CN showed largely improved miscibility with P3HT, compared with that of BT-based control polymer IDTBTC8. The high miscibility between P3HT and IDTBTC8-CN as well as the amorphous aggregation behavior of IDTBTC8-CN enabled a broad manipulation room for the blend film to acquire favorable morphology. Eventually, a champion efficiency of 8.30% was achieved, in sharp contrast to that of the IDTBTC8-based system (1.21%). Such efficiency is a new record for P3HT-based APSCs reported so far. Moreover, P3HT:IDTBTC8-CN blend film also exhibited excellent mechanical robustness. This study implies the guidance of molecular design of the polymer acceptors and morphology control for P3HT-based APSCs.
High‐Efficiency P3HT‐Based All‐Polymer Solar Cells with a Thermodynamically Miscible Polymer Acceptor

Abstract:Poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) is the most classical conjugated polymer for organic photovoltaics due to its low cost and synthetic scalability. However, P3HT‐based organic photovoltaics suffer from inferior device performance with respect to donor‐acceptor copolymers. Particularly, the device performance of P3HT‐based all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs) is rather poor due to the challenges in reaching ideal bulk‐heterojunction morphology. In this work, we report highly efficient P3HT‐based all‐PSCs by blending P3HT with a thermodynamic miscible polymer acceptor. Among the three state‐of‐the‐art polymer acceptors (N2200, PYT, and DCNBT‐IDT), N2200 and PYT are thermodynamically immiscible with P3HT and thus led to excessive phase separation when blended with P3HT, whereas DCNBT‐IDT displayed proper thermodynamic miscibility with P3HT and generated the formation of well‐mixed fibrillary active layer morphology. As a result, a power conversion efficiency of 7.35% has been achieved by P3HT:DCNBT‐IDT blend, which is a new record for P3HT‐based all‐PSCs and largely higher than any previous results. These results provide broad implication for further efficiency enhancement of P3HT‐based all‐PSCs and suggest a promising pathway to realize highly efficient yet cost effective solar energy production.This article is protected by copyright. Abstract:All-polymer solar cells (APSCs) are one of the most promising types of application-oriented photovoltaic technologies because they are operationally and mechanically stable; however, their low power conversion efficiency (PCE) restricts the core competitiveness against other types of solar cells. Besides, poor insight of mechanical performance, such as ductility, has been revealed for cutting-edge APSCs. Herein, we chose two well miscible polymer donors, PM6 and J71, and achieved a PCE of 16.52% for APSCs in a ternary blend with PY-IT and 15.74% for air-processed devices. The improvement is enabled by effective energy transfer, tuned crystallinity, and improved phase separation, which resulted in faster charge transfer and more balanced charge transport, suppressed exciton recombination, and more efficient charge extraction. Furthermore, the good miscibility between two donors enabled the target to have well-maintained film morphology without damaging the initial nanoscale network, bringing comparable film ductility. Last, the inner structure-property relationship of photovoltaic and morphological parameters, and film ductility was illustrated by a correlation study.

Abstract:A novel molecular acceptor of TrBTIC (2,7,12‐tris((2‐(3‐oxo‐2,3‐dihydroinden‐1‐ylidene)malononitrile‐7‐benzothiadiazole‐2‐)truxene) is designed by attaching the 2‐(3‐oxo‐2,3‐dihydroinden‐1‐ylidene)malononitrile‐benzothiadiazole (BTIC) electron‐deficient unit to an electron‐rich truxene core. TrBTIC has excellent solubility in common solvents and features good energy level matching with poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). Interestingly, P3HT can be readily dissolved in warm 1,2,4‐trimethylbenzene (TMB), a green solvent, but crystallizes slowly with long‐term aging in TMB at room temperature. A prephase separation can thus occur before active blend film deposition, and the separation degree can be easily controlled by varying the aging time. After 40 min of aging, the resulting active blend has the most appropriate phase separation with uniform nanowires, which forms favorable interpenetrating networks for exciton dissociation and charge transport. As a result, the device performance is improved from 6.62% to 8.25%. Excitingly, 8.25% is a new record for P3HT‐based solar cells. The study not only provides an efficient nonfullerene acceptor for matching P3HT donors but also develops a promising processing technology to realize high‐performance P3HT‐based polymer solar cells with an efficiency over 8%.

Abstract:All polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) promise mechanically-flexible and morphologically-stable organic photovoltaics and have aroused increased interests very recently. However, due to their disorderly conformation structures within the photoactive film, inefficient charge generation and carrier transport are observed which lead to inferior photovoltaic performance compared to smaller molecular acceptor-based photovoltaics. Here, by diluting PM6 with a cutting-edge polymeric acceptor PY-IT and diluting PY-IT with PM6 or D18, donor-dominating or acceptor-dominating heterojunctions were prepared. Synchrotron X-ray and multiple spectrometer techniques reveal that the diluted heterojunctions receive increased structural order, translating to enhanced carrier mobility, improved exciton diffusion length, and suppressed non-radiative recombination loss during the power conversion. As the results, the corresponding PM6+1%PY-IT/PY-IT+1%D18 and PM6+1%PY-IT/PY-IT+1%PM6 devices fabricated by layer-by-layer deposition received superior power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 19.4% and 18.8% respectively, along with enhanced operational lifetimes in air, outperforming the PCE of 17.5% in the PM6/PY-IT reference device.

Abstract:<section class="article-section__content">Molecular ordering and miscibility of donor and acceptor materials play critical roles in developing high‐performance as‐cast polymer solar cells (PSCs). In this work, a highly crystalline nonfullerene small molecular acceptor, namely, C8‐IT‐4F, based on alkylated indacenodithieno[3,2‐b]thiophene as the aromatic core and 2‐(5,6‐difluoro‐3‐oxo‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐inden‐1‐ylidene)malononitrile moieties as end groups, is selected and synthesized. The π–π stacking distance in C8‐IT‐4F film can be tuned from 3.88 Å to a more compact (3.48 Å) state by a film‐formation process and the confinement induced by the preaggregated polymer donor PM7, leading to broadened absorption and fine phase separation in the blend film. The optimal morphology with a framework of preaggregated polymer donor, J‐type face‐on π–π stacked acceptor, and appropriate donor/acceptor miscibility facilitates charge generation and transport and reduces charge recombination. As a result, the best PSC based on the as‐cast PM7:C8‐IT‐4F blend film exhibits power conversion efficiency of 14.3%, with an open‐circuit voltage of 0.82 V, a short‐circuit current density of 22.7 mA cm−2, a fill factor of 77.1%, and good photostability with a stabilized fill factor. </section>

Abstract:The limited light absorption capacity for most polymer acceptors hinders the improvement of the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs). Herein, by simultaneously increasing the conjugation of the acceptor unit and enhancing the electron‐donating ability of the donor unit, a novel narrow‐bandgap polymer acceptor PF3‐DTCO based on an A–D–A‐structured acceptor unit ITIC16 and a carbon–oxygen (C–O)‐bridged donor unit DTCO is developed. The extended conjugation of the acceptor units from IDIC16 to ITIC16 results in a red‐shifted absorption spectrum and improved absorption coefficient without significant reduction of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy level. Moreover, in addition to further broadening the absorption spectrum by the enhanced intramolecular charge transfer effect, the introduction of C–O bridges into the donor unit improves the absorption coefficient and electron mobility, as well as optimizes the morphology and molecular order of active layers. As a result, the PF3‐DTCO achieves a higher PCE of 10.13% with a higher short‐circuit current density (Jsc) of 15.75 mA cm−2 in all‐PSCs compared with its original polymer acceptor PF2‐DTC (PCE = 8.95% and Jsc = 13.82 mA cm−2). Herein, a promising method is provided to construct high‐performance polymer acceptors with excellent optical absorption for efficient all‐PSCs.
Superior Aggregation, Morphology and Photovoltaic Performance Enabled by Fine Tuning of Fused Electron-Deficient Units in Polymer Donors

Abstract:Copolymerization of an electron-rich donor(D)unit with an electron-deficient acceptor(A)unit to construct efficient D-π-A-π type donors is an effective strategy for organic solar cell applications.The electron-deficient unit fusion,endows extended π-conjugation plane and insures excellent photoelec-tronic property,has great advantages to build A moiety and gradually receives considerable attention.In this work,we adopt benzo[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophene and benzopyrazine(BP),benzothiadiazole(BT)and benzoselenadiazole(BS)to cleverly construct a series of fused A units with different electron-deficient ability,and further synthesize three polymer donors PBDP-BP,PBDP-BT,and PBDP-BS,respec-tively.The relationships between structure and performance were systematically investigated.PBDP-BT shows a moderate aggregation behavior in both solution and film,and the highest hole mobility among the three polymers.After blending with Y6,the PBDP-BT:Y6-based film has the strongest absorp-tion,favorable compatibility,superior crystallinity,and uniform phase separation morphology compared with PBDP-BP or PBDP-BS based blend films.Thus,the device based on PBDP-BT:Y6 has the highest and balanced charge mobility,suppressive recombination,reduced energy loss and achieves an outstanding PCE of 15.14％,which is superior to PBDP-BP:Y6(8.55％)and PBDP-BS:Y6(6.85％).These results provide learnable guidelines for future fused electron-deficient unit-based donor design for photovoltaic application.
Highly Efficient and Thickness-Tolerable Bulk Heterojunction Polymer Solar Cells Based on P3HT Donor and a Low-Bandgap Non-Fullerene Acceptor

Abstract:In order to fabricate highly efficient polymer solar cells (PSCs) in industrial scale, one of the key issues is to use thick active layer (>200 nm) in the device module without sacrificing the power conversion efficiency (PCE). In this article, we have studied the blend of the medium-bandgap polymeric donor P3HT and the low-bandgap acceptor IDTIDT-IC as the active layer in non-fullerene PSCs, and successfully maintained the device performance with the thickness of the active layer close to 250 nm. The P3HT:IDTIDT-IC based PSCs with simple thermal annealing exhibits a PCE of 3.49% at a thin active layer, 74 nm. More importantly, the PCE remains almost constant with increasing the thickness of the active layer, and reaches a peak value of 3.64% at 236 nm. This thickness-insensitive photovoltaic performance of the P3HT:IDTIDT-IC system makes them compatible with large-scale roll-to-roll processing. Furthermore, the P3HT:IDTIDT-IC devices show a very high tolerance to temperature, and the PCE keeps nearly unchanged after annealing the active layer at 150 degrees C for 75 min. All in all, our results show that thickness-tolerable and thermal-stable P3HT:IDTIDT-IC system is more suitable for large-scale industrial manufacturing than the classic P3HT:PCBM formula. Over 17.6% Efficiency Organic Photovoltaic Devices with Two Compatible Polymer Donors

Abstract:<section class="article-section__content">Efficient ternary blend organic photovoltaic devices (OPVs) are built based on a D18-Cl:Y6 host system and star polymer donor PM6 as the third component. A power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 16.89% is achieved in D18-Cl:Y6 host binary OPVs, with a short-circuit current density (JSC) of 25.31 mA cm−2, an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.878 V, and a fill factor (FF) of 75.81%. Upon incorporating appropriate PM6 in active layers, the PCE of optimal ternary blend OPVs can be increased to 17.61%, benefiting from a JSC of 26.35 mA cm−2, a VOC of 0.871 V, and an FF of 76.82%. Polymers D18-Cl and PM6 have good compatibility and similar highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) levels, which enable to form D18-Cl:PM6 alloyed states for efficient hole transport in ternary blend active layers. Meanwhile, trap density in ternary blend active layers is decreased by incorporating PM6, which is conducive to weaken charge recombination in ternary blend active layers. The gradually varied VOC values of ternary blend OPVs can be well explained from the varied HOMO levels of D18-Cl:PM6 alloyed states. The results indicate that two compatible polymer donors with similar HOMO levels have great potential in achieving efficient ternary blend OPVs. </section>

Abstract:A series of donor-acceptor low band gap polymers composed of alternating dithienopyrrole or its derivative as donors and phthalimide or thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione as acceptors (P1-P4) are synthesized by Stille coupling polymerization. All polymers show strong absorption in the visible region, for P2 and P4 possessing thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione as an acceptor, their film absorption covers the region of 500-800 nm and 500-750 nm respectively, which makes them attractive as low band gap polymer solar cell (PSC) materials. With the incorporation of thiophene bridges, P3 and P4 have 0.24 and 0.21 eV higher HOMO energy levels than P1 and P2, respectively. A bandgap as low as 1.66 eV is obtained for P2. An up-scaling experiment is performed on bulk-heterojunction PSCs with an inverted device geometry fabricated on a small scale by spin coating and on a large scale using roll-to-roll (R2R) slot-die coating and screen printing. In both cases the best performing polymer is P2 with a V-oc of 0.56 V, a J(sc) of -12.6 mA cm(-2), a FF of 40.3%, and a PCE of 2.84% for small spin coated devices, and a V-oc of 0.56 V, a J(sc) of -8.18 mA cm(-2), a FF of 30.7%, and a PCE of 1.40% are obtained for R2R-fabricated devices with a significantly better performance than a standard P3HT/PCBM driven device.
Understanding of Imine Substitution in Wide-Bandgap Polymer Donor-Induced Efficiency Enhancement in All-Polymer Solar Cells

Abstract:All-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) are proven to possess outstanding thermal and mechanical stabilities. However, concurrently achieving appropriate phase-separated pattern, efficient charge transportation, and adequate charge transfer between donor and acceptor components is still a challenge, arid thus, only a few polymer-polymer bulk heterojunction (BHJ) blends have yielded BHJ device power conversion efficiency (PCE) values of >8%. Generally, polymer backbone substitutions may have a direct influence on the device performance. Thus, this report examines a set of wide bandgap polymer donor analogues composed of thienothiophene (TT) or thiazolothiazole (TTz) motif, and their all-PSC device performance with N2200. Results show that all-PSCs based on the imine-substituted derivative PBDT-TTz exhibit PCE values as high as 8.4%, which largely outperform the analogue PBDT-TT-based ones with PCEs of only 0.7%. This work reveals that the imine substitution in polymer backbones of PBDT-TTz not only increases the ionization potential (IP) and electron affinity (EA), narrows the optical gap (E-opt), but also has significantly impacts on the BHJ film morphologies. PBDT-TTz:N2200 BHJ blends present better miscibility, suppressed phase separation, much stronger crystallinity, and face-on ordering, which contribute to efficient exciton dissociation, charge transportation, and therefore, high-efficiency in all-PSCs. This study demonstrates that the imine-substituted polymers composed of TTz motif, which can be easily synthesized through a facile two-step procedure, are a promising class of wide-bandgap polymer donors for efficient all-PSCs.
8.0% Efficient All-Polymer Solar Cells with High Photovoltage of 1.1 V and Internal Quantum Efficiency near Unity

Abstract:In very recent years, growing efforts have been devoted to the development of all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs). One of the advantages of all-PSCs over the fullerene-based PSCs is the versatile design of both donor and acceptor polymers which allows the optimization of energy levels to maximize the open-circuit voltage (V-oc). However, there is no successful example of all-PSCs with both high V-oc over 1 V and high power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 8% reported so far. In this work, a combination of a donor polymer poly[4,8-bis(5-(2-octylthio)thiophen-2-yl)benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b]dithiophene-2,6-diyl-alt-(5-(2-ethylhexyl)-4H-thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6(5H)-dione)-1,3-diyl] (PBDTS-TPD) with a low-lying highest occupied molecular orbital level and an acceptor polymer poly[[N,N-bis(2-octyldodecyl)-naphthalene-1,4,5,8-bis(dicarboximide)-2,6-diyl]-alt-thiophene-2,5-diyl] (PNDI-T) with a high-lying lowest unoccupied molecular orbital level is used, realizing high-performance all-PSCs with simultaneously high V-oc of 1.1 V and high PCE of 8.0%, and surpassing the performance of the corresponding PC71BM-based PSCs. The PBDTS-TPD:PNDI-T all-PSCs achieve a maximum internal quantum efficiency of 95% at 450 nm, which reveals that almost all the absorbed photons can be converted into free charges and collected by electrodes. This work demonstrates the advantages of all-PSCs by incorporating proper donor and acceptor polymers to boost both V-oc and PCEs.

Abstract:Polythiophenes are one of the most classical donors for organic solar cells, which have simple chemical structures and thus low production costs. However, their photovoltaic performance is lagging far behind the donor-acceptor-type polymers, especially when blending with polymer acceptors, where morphology control is a huge challenge. Here, we systematically study the intermolecular interaction in polythiophene:polymer acceptor (PY-IT) combinations and establish a rational relationship between chemical structure and blend miscibility. Our results suggest that the electrostatic force plays a key role in determining the donor:acceptor intermolecular interaction energy. Introducing electron-withdrawing functional groups into the backbone of P3HT can increase the electrostatic potential (ESP) and suppress the intermolecular interaction with PY-IT. Due to the proper miscibility and improved domain purity, the corresponding polymer PDCBT records a high-power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 15.3%, which is the highest value in polythiophene-based all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) and crucial for advancing their practical applications.

Manipulating Polymer Backbone Configuration via Halogenated Asymmetric End-Groups Enables Over 18% Efficiency All-Polymer Solar Cells

Abstract:High-performance all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) deeply rely on the joint contributions of desirable optical absorption, adaptive energy levels, and appropriate morphology. Herein, two structural analogous polymerized small-molecule acceptors (PSMAs), PYFCl-T and PYF&PYCl-T, are synthesized, and then incorporated into the PM6:PY-IT binary blends to construct ternary all-PSCs. Due to the superior compatibility of PY-IT and PYFCl-T, the ternary all-PSC based on PM6:PY-IT:PYFCl-T with 10 wt% PYFCl-T, presents higher and more balanced charge mobility, suppressed charge recombination, and faster charge-transfer kinetics, resulting in an outstanding power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.12% with enhanced Jsc and FF, which is much higher than that (PCE of 16.09%) of the binary all-PSCs based on PM6:PY-IT. Besides, the ternary all-PSCs also exhibit improved photostability. The conspicuous performance enhancement principally should give the credit to the miscibility-driven phase optimization of the donor and acceptor. These findings highlight the significance of polymer-backbone configuration modulation of PSMAs in morphology optimization toward boosting the device properties of all-PSCs.

Abstract:All-polymer solar cells (All-PSCs) offer several distinct merits including superior thermal stability and flexibility. Here, we report a novel polymer acceptor PJ1 that exhibits a narrow band gap around 1.4 eV and a high extinction coefficient about 1.39 × 105 cm−1. When PJ1 is blended with donor polymer PBDB-T, all-PSC with a record power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 14.4% is achieved, which is mainly attributed to the broad absorption, efficient charge separation and collection, and low energy loss. The synergetic effects of molecular weight of PJ1 on the photovoltaic performance are also investigated. It is found that the increase in molecular weight can result in the red-shift of absorption along with slight enhancement of extinction coefficient, which therefore benefits photocurrent. In addition, all-PSC based on PJ1 demonstrate much better thermal stability than the control device based on small molecule acceptor (TTPBT-IC), as evidenced by the insignificant morphology change of PBDB-T:PJ1 versus excessive phase separation of PBDB-T:TTPBT-IC when annealed at 150 °C. Of particular interest is that the all-PSCs based on PBDB-T:PJ1 can retain high PCEs even when the thickness of photoactive layer is increased over 300 nm (PCE of 12.1%) or the device area is enlarged to 1 cm2 (PCE of 13.0%).

Abstract:The prosperous period of polymer solar cells (PSCs) has witnessed great progress in molecule design methods to promote power conversion efficiency (PCE). Designing asymmetric structures has been proved effective in tuning energy level and morphology, which has drawn strong attention from the PSC community. Two hepta-ring and octa-ring asymmetric small molecular acceptors (SMAs) (IDTP-4F and IDTTP-4F) with S-shape and C-shape confirmations are developed to study the relationship between conformation shapes and PSC efficiencies. The similarity of absorption and energy levels between two SMAs makes the conformation a single variable. Additionally, three wide-bandgap polymer donors (PM6, S1, and PM7) are chosen to prove the universality of the relationship between conformation and photovoltaic performance. Consequently, the champion PCE afforded by PM7: IDTP-4F is as high as 15.2% while that of PM7: IDTTP-4F is 13.8%. Moreover, the S-shape IDTP-4F performs obviously better than their IDTTP-4F counterparts in PSCs regardless of the polymer donors, which confirms that S-shape conformation performs better than the C-shape one. This work provides an insight into how conformations of asymmetric SMAs affect PCEs, specific functions of utilizing different polymer donors to finely tune the active-layer morphology and another possibility to reach an excellent PCE over 15%.

Abstract:Continuous breakthroughs have been achieved in improving the efficiency of all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) using diimide-based polymer acceptors, and their easy-to-synthesize, low-cost, and high stability attributes make them potential candidates for use in commercial all-PSCs. However, their low light absorption coefficient, strong aggregation, and poor adaptability with high-efficient polymer donors still limit further improvements in the device performance. Here, we combine the advantages of fluorinated bithiophene and rhodanine dye molecules to create low-cost diimide-based polymer acceptors, PNDI-2FT-TR10 and PNDI-2FT-TR20, by random copolymerization for achieving highly efficient and stable all-PSCs. The synergistic effects of fluorine atoms and rhodanine dye molecules not only significantly improve the absorption coefficient but also enable enhanced miscibility and stability of the blend film. When blended with a PM6 donor, the PNDI-2FT-TR10-based device exhibits a notable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.71% with a short-circuit current (JSC) of 17.32 mA cm-2. Note that both the PCE and JSC show outstanding values for diimide-based all-PSCs, and this is the first report on blending diimide-based polymer acceptors with the PM6 donor to achieve high-performance all-PSCs. Moreover, the favorable morphology of the active layer enables the device to have good thickness tolerance and thermal stability. The results demonstrate that the absorption coefficients, blend morphology, and photovoltaic properties of all-PSCs could be rationally optimized by a random copolymer.

Abstract:Achieving high fill factor (FF) is a great challenge for the all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) since the FF can be influenced by numerous complicated factors. In this work, two medium band gap two-dimensional-conjugated copolymers J61 and J71 with varied side chains were utilized as donors to construct efficient all-PSCs with the typical electron-withdrawing polymer N2200 as an acceptor. Eventually, moderate photovoltaic performance was obtained for the J61:N2200 device with a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.58% and FF of 60.18%, while the J71:N2200-based all-PSCs delivered an outstanding PCE of 9.31% with an unprecedented FF of 78.00%. To the best of our knowledge, such an FF of 78% represents a record value for binary all-PSCs systems, which demonstrates that the all-PSCs can realize excellent FF comparable to other PSCs systems. The favorable blends morphology, molecular orientation, balanced charge transport, and suppressed recombination together contributed to the remarkable photovoltaic performance of J71:N2200 devices. In addition, relatively weak thickness dependence of photovoltaic property and excellent long-term device stabilities (in N2 and air, respectively) were observed for the J71:N2200 all-PSCs. These results reveal that J71 with trialkylsilyl side chains is a promising polymer donor candidate for developing high-performance all-PSCs for future practical applications.

Abstract:<section class="article-section__content">Rapid developments in material design have led to significant breakthroughs in the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) in recent years. However, most of these devices are processed using halogenated solvents. Here, nonhalogenated solvent o-xylene (o-XY)-processed all-PSCs based on PBDB-T:PJ1 are studied. Interestingly, it is found that the efficiency of the all-PSCs can be greatly improved to 14.34% by simply increasing the spin-coating speed during device processing. Careful studies reveal that this improvement could be attributed to the stronger centrifugal force (resulting from a higher spin-coating speed), shorten the film formation time, and inhibit the excessive aggregation of PJ1. Consequently, a blend film with more reasonable domain size is formed. Based on these findings, another polymer acceptor PJ2, which bears a similar backbone to PJ1 but contains an additional thiophene spacer, is designed. PJ2 exhibits a much weaker aggregation ability and is used as a compatibilizer to improve the miscibility between the PBDB-T and PJ1. Eventually, PBDB-T:PJ1:PJ2-based ternary all-PSCs with a best PCE of 14.28% but processed under more mild conditions are obtained. These results may provide guidelines for future industrial fabrication of large-area all-PSCs. </section>
