Cultivation of Pleurotus Eryngii Using Walnut Processing Wastes

Abstract:The effect of replacing the sawdust and corn cob components of a growth substrate used for cultivating Pleurotus eryngii with varying concentrations of walnut shells and walnut coats on the yield and quality of mushroom fruit bodies was determined.The shortest spawn run period(25 d) was achieved following cultivation on a substrate consisting of 34% sawdust,30% walnut shell,10% wheat bran,5% corn powder,20% rice bran and 1% lime.Under these conditions,fruit body yields were 193.3 g/bottle,and the sporophores contained 2.83% nitrogen.
