Analysis on Irrational Drug Use in Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service of Suzhou Municipal Hospital from Jan.2014 to Aug.2016

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the irrational drug use in Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service ( PIVAS ) of Suzhou Municipal Hospital ( hereinafter referred to as "the hospital") , so as to standardize the clinical drug use . METHODS:Medical orders in PIVAS from Jan.2014 to Aug.2016 were collected, retrospective analysis was conducted on the irrational drug use .RESULTS:There were 560089 medical orders , 587959 medical orders and 413877 medical orders extracted from 2014, 2015 and Jan.to Aug.2016, the irrational medical orders were respectively 107 (0.019%), 88(0.015%) and 48(0.011%), which indicated that the irrational rate decreased year by year .There were 243 medical orders with irrational drug use , mainly concentrated in irrational selection of solvent , improper drug concentration , irrational compatibility , over dosage and improper medical orders , etc.CONCLUSIONS:The establishment of PIVAS is helpful for the communication between pharmacists and clinicians .The clinicians have the high approval on the work mode of centralized deployment of intravenous drugs , and actively participate the prescription intervention of pharmacists , and adjust irrational prescriptions on time .Medical orders comments from pharmacists can effectively reduce the irrational use of drugs , which maximizes the medication safety of patients and the fully achieves of the value of pharmacists .
