Analysis of unreasonable outpatient prescription at our sanatorium

Abstract:Objective To explore the situation of the unreasonable outpatient prescription at our sanatorium and to improve the abilities of pharmacists advice to guide the physicians and the patients for rational drug use.Methods Retrospective analysis was adopted for random inspection on outpatient pharmacy prescription during August,2011 and April,2012 at our sanatorium,together with document literature review,the unreasonable outpatient prescriptions were inductively analyzed.Results A total of 3 600 prescriptions were analyzed,in which there were 616 unreasonable prescriptions,320 out of which were prescriptions for antibiotics.Unreasonable prescriptions mainly present in the aspects of the dosages,specification,combined application of drugs,and the use of antibacterial agents.Conclusion Outpatient prescription at our sanatorium is basically proper but there are to some degree phenomena of irrational drug use,so the physicians should strengthen the study of proper drug use and the pharmacists should have integrated knowledge about pharmacy,reinforce pharmacy instruction,meanwhile,prescription checking is helpful for promoting rational drug use.
