Abstract:In order to strengthen the international academic exchanges and cooperation, promote the development of phytochemical natural products, functional foods and related scientific research, 4th International Symposium on Phytochemicals in Medicine and Food (4-ISPMF) was held from November 30 to December 5, 2020, Xi’an, China. The conference was hosted by International Association of Dietetic Nutrition and Safety, European Phytochemical Society, Asian Phytochemical Society, eFood, and Food Frontiers, and organized by Northwest University and Shanxi Normal University. Representatives from more than 60 universities participated in this event online and onsite.

Abstract:The 2017 China (Lianyungang) International Medical Technology Conference was held in Lianyungang,Jiangsu Province during November 15-17,2017.During this conference,the Division for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Products Pharmacology of Chinese Pharmacological Society (CNPHARS) and Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.jointly held the Forum on R&D and Interna-tionalization of New Drugs and Health Products of Traditional Chinese Medicine.The forum was co-chaired by Professor ZHANG Yong-xiang, President of CNPHARS, Chair of Division for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Products Pharmacology of CNPHARS,and Chair of the Natural Product Section of Inter-national Union of Basic&Clinical Pharmacology(IUPHAR), Professor DU Guan-hua,former President of CNPHARS and Vice-Chair of Division for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Products Pharmacology of CNPHARS,and Dr.XIAO Wei,Chairman of the Board of Jiangsu Kanion Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. And Vice-Chair of Division for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Products Pharmacology of CNPHARS. Representatives discussed the R&D and internationalization of new drugs and health products of traditional Chinese medicine.The summary of views and advice of some experts was published here for the purpose of promoting domestic and overseas academic exchange, and playing an active role in improving the level of R&D and internationalization of new drugs and health products of traditional Chinese medicine in China.

Abstract:The "Medicine + X" interdisciplinary integration talents cultivation is an important measure to implement the national strategy of "education power" and "healthy China" and to promote the construction of new medicine. The article analyzed current situation and existent problems of interdisciplinary talent training in comprehensive universities of medicine. Combined with the practice of the "X+ medicine" and "medicine + X" dual pathways of interdisciplinary medical talent training, scientific innovation courses at different levels, the construction of new medical research and innovation institutions, reformation of interdisciplinary talent training mechanism in Zhejiang University were reviewed to provide a reference for reformation based on hybrid interdisciplinary training of medical talents in colleges and universities.

Abstract:The 1st western China symposium on the international frontier of synthetic biomanufacturing was successfully held on July 8-10 in 2022. The conference is firstly launched by Professor Dan Wang in Chongqing University, and will be organized regularly every year by different universities in western China. The aim of this symposium is to show the cutting-edge knowledge of the synthetic biology developed in China and worldwide, provide a chance to meet international colleagues, and also to promote the academic and economic development of western China. Due to COVID-19, the 2022 symposium was masterfully delivered on the combination of online and offline operation, and the organisers must be commended for a really excellent and interactive meeting. The content of the conference involves two modules of synthetic biology and green biomanufacturing, covering eight aspects: synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, biological process engineering, industrial microbial breeding, biocatalysis and biotransformation, synthetic bio-materials, bio-medicine and biological separation engineering. More than 400 representatives were invited to gather together to exchange the latest research results and development trends in the field of synthetic biology and biomanufacturing. There was a significant focus on the younger scientists, both in terms of oral reports and posters. There were many excellent invited lectures and sessions beyond the remit of this short summary, including "Pharmaceutical manufacturing by biological methods" by Yuguo Zheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Member of China, and a lecture "The third generation of biological manufacturing: preparing chemicals with CO2 as raw material" by Tianwei Tan, Academician of the CAE Member of China, a lecture on the biotransformation and green separation of natural products by Prof. Huizhou Liu, a lecture of the synthetic biology of Halophilic bacteria by Prof. Guoqiang Chen, a lecture of design principles to engineer yeasts as microbial factories by Ass. Prof. Zengyi Shao in Iowa State University, and a outstanding overview of the development of synthetic biology from basic research to industrialization in China to list just six. In this article we will cover some pertinent areas of synthetic biology and biomanufacturing amidst the unavoidable spectra of COVID-19.

Abstract:The fourth affiliated hospital of Zhejiang university is responsible for training general practitioners in view of the basics of local general practitioners and the characteristics of chronic and frequently-occurring diseases in Yiwu city. This program is carried out relying on the high-quality faculty of medical alliances within Zhejiang university, and funded by the municipal government of Yiwu. The "4+6"training program is designed to elevate the competence of primary general practitioners. Such training fit the overall medical level of general practitioners, enhances people′s trust of general practitioners and the rate of diagnosis at primary level.

Abstract:The 13th National Postgraduates Symposium on Environmental and Occupational Medicine was held successfully in School of Public Health,Fudan University from November 5 to 8,2017.The symposium was sponsored by the Editorial Board of the Journal of Environmental and Occupational Medicine (JEOM),School of Public Health,Fudan University,and Shanghai Preventive Medicine Association.About 130 participants from nationwide universities and research institutes were in attendance and 66 outstanding articles were received.The theme for the symposium was From research to intervention:Healing the schism.The contents of this symposium contained expert reports,postgraduate reports,group academic exchange,guest lecture,etc.The experts and the graduate students had a good communication at the meeting,and the atmosphere was very warm.JEOM and Shanghai Municipal Center for Diseases Control and Prevention extended their reach in teachers and students and the meeting laid a solid foundation for attracting more potential authors and high-quality articles.

Abstract:Background Nowadays internet and social media community have provided a great amount of information for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We aimed to assess the sources and needs of Chinese IBD patients through the internet and their impact on disease management. Methods Between November 24, 2017 and March 1, 2018. Totally 414 questionnaires were recruited online from seven different large urban hospitals in China. Internet usage, IBD knowledge and medication adherence were examined. One-way ANOVA, student t-tests and multivariate regression were used for statistical analysis. Results In all, 382 surveys were used for analysis, in which 291 (76.2%) had Crohn’s disease (CD), 74 (19.4%) ulcerative colitis (UC) and 17 (4.5%) undetermined colitis. The most common IBD-specific information sources were gastroenterologists (81.7%), Internet (58.6%), and WeChat or other social media (48.7%). Patients most frequently visited Baidu (65.2%), WeChat (58.9%) and Haodaifu network platform (33.2%) for personal information searching of IBD. Among ten WeChat public accounts of IBD, the China Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCCF) (69.1%) and Changzaixin (20.2%) were most popular. A significant association was found between education (PP=0.003), frequent internet use in IBD-related information (PPP=0.003) and also had better medication adherence than undetermined patients (p=0.009). The majority of patients preferred obtaining information mainly through communication with (77.7%) or reference in the paper from IBD specialists (73%), only 18.6% patients preferred mainly from internet searching by themselves. They were interested in information about diet and daily life health care of IBD (81.2%), disease aetiology and course (80.1%), and medication advances and side effects (78.5%) from the Internet. Conclusions Internet and social media like WeChat have become the major information source for IBD education in China. This is beneficial to gain disease-related knowledge and improve future self-management for patients. Future initiatives should focus on providing more high-quality IBD information and increase interaction in patient education and disease organisation.

Abstract:Both general and emerging infectious diseases poses a new threat to human health and social development.Chinese medicine has always been a unique perspective to recognize the infectious diseases,and a special method to treat them.How to inherit and explore the theory of warm diseases,further study the scientific connotation of therapy design of Chinese medicine,and innovate new way to prevent and control infectious diseases,is worth discussing.From 16 to 18 December 2016,the 173th Shuangqing Forum was hold by the Department of Health Sciences of National Natural Science Foundation of China in Nanjing.In this forum the current status,development tendency and challenges,between warm diseases and infectious diseases were discussed.Through this communication,all the experts from different research institutes or university believed that the development of warm diseases and infectious diseases had a strategic significance.Meanwhile,they preliminarily provided key scientific problems that should be concerned and solved,as well as,asked for priority development of suggestions.

Abstract:The 45 th Shuangqing Forum sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China entitled"Biomimetic Materials and Devices"was held in Sanya,Hainan Province during January 25—29,2010. More than 50 experts and scholars from appromixtly 20 universities and research institutions in the fields of chemistry, bionics,biology,materials science,nanoscience,and life sciences attended the forum.Among the participants, there are 13 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 10 chief scientists of National Basic Research Project.In combination with national imperatives and international research frontiers in the field of bionics, the participants further discussed the research status and development trends of biomimetic materials and devices. Some concrete suggestions for the prior research fields were also proposed in this forum.
Integrating network pharmacology and molecular docking to explore the potential mechanism of Xinguan No. 3 in the treatment of COVID-19

Abstract:Abstract Xinguan No. 3 has been recommended for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, its potential mechanisms are unclear. This study aims to explore the mechanisms of Xinguan No. 3 against COVID-19 through network pharmacology and molecular docking. We first searched the ingredients of Xinguan No. 3 in three databases (Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform, Traditional Chinese Medicines Integrated Database, and The Encyclopedia of Traditional Chinese Medicine). The active components and their potential targets were predicted through the SwissTargetPrediction website. The targets of COVID-19 can be found on the GeneCards website. Protein interaction analysis, screening of key targets, functional enrichment of key target genes, and signaling pathway analysis were performed through Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes databases, Metascape databases, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway databases. Finally, the affinity of the key active components with the core targets was verified by molecular docking. The results showed that five core targets had been screened, including MAPK1, NF-κB1, RELA, AKT1, and MAPK14. Gene ontology enrichment analysis revealed that the key targets were associated with inflammatory responses and responses to external stimuli. KEGG enrichment analysis indicated that the main pathways were influenza A, hepatitis B, Toll-like receptor signaling pathway, NOD-like receptor signaling pathway, and TNF signaling pathway. Therefore, Xinguan No. 3 might play a role in treating COVID-19 through anti-inflammatory, immune responses, and regulatory responses to external stimuli.

Abstract:Diabetes is a kind of life-threaten complicated disease.In recent years,important progresses were made in the pathogenesis and the treatment in Diabetes,but there are still lots of scientific issues suspended. The 68th Shuangqing Forum sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China entitled "the key scientific questions on pathogenesis and intervention of diabetes in China" was held in Shanghai during September 14—15,2011.More than 30 experts from 19 universities and scientific research institutions in the field attended the forum.In combination with basic research and diabetes clinic,the participants shared their opinions with based on the forum theme,different disciplines,analyzed the international current research status,thoroughly discussed the key scientific issues in China.Some key and priority funding areas and suggestions on diabetes research were proposed in the forum.

Abstract:Objective: The objective of this study is to explore the treatment and compatibility principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Materials and Methods: Syndrome differentiation is used to identify the etiology, nature, and location of a disease and the relationship between the healthy Qi and pathogenic factors by analyzing and synthesizing the four diagnostics data. The theory of treatment is to determine the principle and methods of treatment according to the results of syndrome differentiation and implement them as a specific prescription. This paper bears witness to the principle universality by analysis of the articles of the Banxia Xiexin Decoction, and it equally has analogical prescriptions in Treatise on Febrile Diseases. Results: The treatment and compatibility principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine are the same, that is, rectifying the deviation on three dimensions, strengthening the healthy Qi, and eliminating pathogenic factors in the light of its general trend. Conclusion: The treatment and compatibility principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine are the same, The treatment and compatibility principles provide a new thinking for clinical treatment.

Abstract:With an increasing proportion of sedentary lifestyle related chronic diseases, an efficient way to help fight the growing world epidemic of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and promote public health in a fast-changing world is urgently needed. Exercise and medicine science have played an important role in prevention and control of NCDs. However, the current status and future development directions regarding the integration of exercise science and medicine (IESM) in China have not been well discussed. During 2017 Belt and Road Initiative Global Health International Congress & 2017 Chinese Preventive Medicine Association-Chinese Society on Global Health Annual Meeting, Xi’an Jiaotong University Global Health Institute, and the Integration of Sport and Medicine Innovation Research Center, China Institute of Sport Science organized the IESM Forum on September 27. Six leaders and experts from China and abroad presented excellent research reports in the IESM Forum from several aspects. Experts reached a consensus at the end of their discussions that, in the near future, the IESM will be a key part of a sustainable health care system and as such should contribute to prosperity in China and around the world. However, compared with European, American and Japanese universities, the development of the IESM in China is in its early stages with huge development potential.
