Abstract:Color distortion may exist during image processing,due to spectral response sensitivity of image sensor and transmittance spectrum of lens.Color information plays a crucial role in image analysis.Therefore,as for digital imaging system,it is useful to study evaluation,detection and correction methods of color reappearance ability.Here,it proposes a novel color correcting approach that can significantly reduces color distortion.It corrects the color of image by computing optimal correction matrix in CIELAB color space with mathematical method.The experimental results of standard color plate pictures show that the optimal solution algorithm can reduce the value of color difference significantly in every color block,and an integrated correction of color distortion has achieved.
An Adaptive Weight Value-Based Multi-Scale Retinex Algorithm for Color Image Enhancement

Abstract:There are limited dynamic range problems when real world scenes are captured from a digital camera and displayed on monitors. Retinex is one of the most popular theories for dynamic range compression, color constancy and color rendition. However, there still exist some problems, such as hue shift and excessive noise, especially for those images including large bright areas and dark regions. In order to solve these problems, an adaptive weight value-based multi-scale retinex algorithm is proposed in this paper. Compared to other methods, visual experiments and data evaluation show that the proposed algorithms can achieve better performance for color image enhancement and noise suppression simultaneously. What is more, there is no need for color correction phase in the proposed algorithm, which makes it more efficient and convenient to apply.

Abstract:We propose a multilevel halftone-based color error diffusion (ED) algorithm. Our algorithm aims to achieve a "blue noise" color halftone by exploiting the interchannel relationship of a separated color image. The method focuses on dot distribution and dot overlapping control to yield high quality results. It treats color ED as a multilevel halftone and employs an embedded multilevel ED algorithm to determine the number of color dots in the processing pixel. In the color rendering process, the most suitable colors are selected as output based on the sum of the input and the error diffused from the processed dot. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm generates high-quality halftone images with "blue noise" characteristics. Comparisons with state-of-the-art methods using objective and subjective measures show that our method is superior, as it effectively avoids dot overlapping and preserves the details of the original image. Abstract:With the development of digital technology，various kinds of color image processing devices have been more frequently used than ever and color has become even more accessible.The increased use of color has brought with it new challenges and problems.In order to meaningfully record and process color images and to reduce color error caused by color imaging devices，it is essential to understand the mechanisms and limitations of these devices.In this paper，we reviewed some of the most commonly used color image recording and reproduction systems in present day.The system mechanisms and mathematical models used for representing these systems are discussed.The main problems existing in characterization，calibration and designing processes are recapitulated and the techniques used to solve them are also mentioned.This paper also provides a succinct introduction of some relatively new color imaging techniques，as well as their limitations and potentials of future applications.A forecast of research trends is attempted as well.

Abstract:The most obvious difference between digital photofinishing and other color reproduction devices, such as printer, is its exposure mechanism. So the color control system is based on the analysis of exposure characteristic. To offset the colorimetric shift by developer, three target density curves are proposed and applied to the pre-adjustment of exposure mechanism. Since the color control system is considered static via pre-adjustment, it can be modeled by the color space transform from colorimetric space to dye space. By comparison, the neural network method is utilized to realize this transform. To get uniform samples in CIE Lab color space for network, a cumulative dye slicing method is designed. At last, the GretagMacbeth ColorChecker color rendition chart is printed, and the results indicate that this color control system achieves the color difference requirement of high-quality reproduction.

Abstract:Error diffusion is known as a commonly used digital halftoning technique. We present a novel and efficient error-diffusion algorithm which is capable of preserving appreciable structures and tones with blue-noise property. According to the theoretical analysis of threshold modulation, the extraction of the high-frequency image contents is helpful to preserve human vision-sensitive textures. The pixel intensity’s influence on the structural distortion is observed based on a key statistic phenomenon. This effect leads to the non-uniform conservation of diversiform detail contents. To alleviate this influence, an entropy is introduced to measure the intensity’s impact and adaptively constrain the threshold-modulation strength. Compared with the existing edge-enhancement halftoning, our entropy-based method does not suffer from the failure to detect weak edges or improper emphasis of details. On the other hand, this structural improvement enables the modification of error-diffusion coefficients to eliminate visually harmful tonal artifacts, which results in the seamless integration with the best tone-aware techniques (Ostromoukhov in Proceedings of ACM SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH ’01, pp 567–572, 2001, Zhou and Fang in ACM Trans Graph (TOG) 22(3):437–444, 2003). Comparisons with the state-of-the-art structure-preserving error diffusions (Chang et al. in ACM Trans Graph (TOG) 28(5): 162:1–162:8, 2009, Li and Mould in Forum 29(2):273–280, 2010) indicate that our methods can achieve better structural similarity with better tone consistency. Our performance is one order of magnitude faster than (Chang et al. in ACM Trans Graph (TOG) 28(5): 162:1–162:8, 2009, Li and Mould in Forum 29(2): 273–280, 2010) while ensuring higher visual quality on typical images. Due to low computational overhead and high halftone quality, the proposed methods in this paper can be widely applicable in many practical applications.
Measurement and error analysis on color uniformity of LCD projector

Abstract:In order to improve the traditional inefficient method of measuring the color uniformity of liquid crystal display (LCD) projector, a system of measuring two dimensional chromaticity coordinate distribution was set up. By measuring three primary color coordinates with the standard colorimeter and the light intensity of every point with the charge coupled device (CCD) camera, the chromaticity coordinate distribution of every point on screen was obtained. And an improved method to test the three primary color coordinates at different gray levels was put forward. The error analysis of the measuring results show that the spectral transmittance of LCD at different gray levels has obvious influence upon the chromaticity coordinates distribution. The measuring velocity of the system is 10 times faster than that of traditional method. The precision can reach 2.4 × 10-3 and satisfy the request of the color uniformity measurement of LCD projectors.
A Method for Color Calibration Based on Simulated Annealing Optimization

Abstract:To accurately reproduce colors, it is necessary to calibrate a digital camera that is used to acquire images. The traditional calibration methods have been used to build a color correction model that has a transformation matrix mapping data from a RGB image to standard XYZ tristimulus. Determination of this matrix is performed through matrix transformation from each color checker patch to its corresponding actual XYZ value, using least-squares regression. However, these methods cannot effectively minimize the CIE DE error because of these algorithms' limitations and CCD dark currents, which can be hard to accurately measure. In this paper, a new color correction model is presented for color calibration and helps minimize the CIEDE2000 error in order to achieve higher color fidelity. Experimental results show that our method significantly outperforms other algorithms.

Abstract:The color subarea theory and the causes of error of color subarea theory were analyzed.The concepts of subarea boundary and sharing area and a modification method called the subarea boundary description were proposed.On the basis of this a judgment rule of whether the color is in sharing area was confirmed.By building multi-color separation model,the modification algorithm was verified.The effect of carrying out sharing area judgment or not were compared.The separation experiment result showed the subarea boundary description method can solve the error problem of color subarea theory,and can further improve accuracy of multi-color separation model.

Abstract:Gamut mapping is the key element to get satisfactory image reproduction. First, a practical method is used to realize the transform from RGB values of CRT monitor to spectral tristimulus values. The printing paper gamut is predicted by Beer's law. Further, a non-linear compression method is proposed to realize the gamut mapping. At the same time, the virtual gamut is defined and studied. The result indicates that this model has good practicality for the CMS (Color Management System) of digital photofinishing. This method is applied to high-technology industry with satisfying performance.

Abstract:Diffusion models have recently demonstrated their effectiveness in generating extremely high-quality images and are now utilized in a wide range of applications, including automatic sketch colorization. Although many methods have been developed for guided sketch colorization, there has been limited exploration of the potential conflicts between image prompts and sketch inputs, which can lead to severe deterioration in the results. Therefore, this paper exhaustively investigates reference-based sketch colorization models that aim to colorize sketch images using reference color images. We specifically investigate two critical aspects of reference-based diffusion models: the "distribution problem", which is a major shortcoming compared to text-based counterparts, and the capability in zero-shot sequential text-based manipulation. We introduce two variations of an image-guided latent diffusion model utilizing different image tokens from the pre-trained CLIP image encoder and propose corresponding manipulation methods to adjust their results sequentially using weighted text inputs. We conduct comprehensive evaluations of our models through qualitative and quantitative experiments as well as a user study.

Developing a Quality Evaluation System for Color Reproduction of Color 3D Printing Based on MATLAB Multi-Metrics

Abstract:Color 3D printing has been widely used in many fields such as cultural, medical, industrial, and food. The color reproduction accuracy of 3D printed products in these fields is becoming increasingly demanding, which requires more reproduction methods and practical tools. At present, most color 3D printing devices use one quantitative index, that is, color difference, to directly predict the color reproduction quality. However, this single quantitative index is not optimal for the curved surface of 3D printed color objects. Based on color evaluation principles, in this study, five new quantitative metrics consisting of color gamut comparison index, color SSIM index, color FSIM index, iCID index, and subjective scaling values are proposed for comparison, and the corresponding GUI design and code implementation of new color quality evaluation system are performed by MATLAB. Moreover, the comprehensive color assessment of color 3D printed products is confirmed by utilizing standard image acquisition and microscopic imaging methods that are not limited to printing materials and sampling locations. The operation of this system is validated to provide interactivity, simplicity and high efficiency. As a result, the system can provide new valuable feedback for color separation and output calibration of color 3D printing devices.

Abstract:The conventional error diffusion (CED) method adopted in digital display devices is simply modified from Floyd-Steinberg error diffusion method, which will degrade image quality by introducing nonlinear distortion (worm artifacts), linear distortion (sharpening), noise and the loss of image details. To overcome the shortcomings of the CED method, this paper proposes 3-dimensional (3D) error diffusion method based on edge detection. The proposed method diffuses quantization errors to the neighbor pixels of current frame and the neighbor pixel of the next frame. And the weights of error filters are dynamically adjusted based on the results of edge detection in each pixel's processing, which makes the weights coincide with the local edge feathers of input image. Simulation and experimental results show that the 3D error diffusion method can reduce worm artifacts and improve reproduction precision of image details.

Abstract:Electrophoretic display (EPD) has the same reflective and wide viewing angle characteristics as paper, and also has the advantages of low power consumption and bistab‐ility. At the same time, its eye protection characteri‐stics are deeply loved by the public, so that people have more ex‐pectations for color EPD, but there are still problems such as poor quality and jagged edges of the display image. Due to the limitation of the grayscale range caused by the driver chip and the driving mode of EPDs, when the 256‐level grayscale image on the PC is put on the EPD for display, the driving circuit system will compress the gra‐yscale. This results in a loss of detail, a step jump in the image, and a lack of clarity in the texture. In order to solve the above problems, a multi‐level error diffusion algorithm based on edge enhancement is proposed.The dataset KODIM was selected as the experimental object, compared with the traditional error diffusion algori‐thm, the image quality evaluation index PSNR is improved by 22.4%‐30.8%, and SSIM is closer to 1. And the EPD shows more image details, which brings a better visual experience to the users of e‐paper.
Analysis Model of Image Colour Data Elements Based on Deep Neural Network

Abstract:At present, the classification method used in image colour element analysis in China is still based on subjective visual evaluation. Because the evaluation process will inevitably be disturbed by human factors, it will not only have low efficiency but also produce large errors. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes an image colour data element analysis model based on depth neural network. Firstly, intelligent analysis of image colour data elements based on tensorflow is constructed, and the isomerized tensorflow framework is designed with the idea of Docker cluster to improve the efficiency of image element analysis. Secondly, considering the time error and spatial error diffusion model in the process of image analysis, the quantization modified error diffusion model is replaced by the original model for more accurate colour management. Image colour management is an important link in the process of image reproduction; the rotating principal component analysis method is used to correct and analyze the image colour error. Finally, using the properties of transfer learning and convolution neural network, an image colour element analysis model based on depth neural network is established. Large-scale image data is collected, and the effectiveness and reliability of the algorithm are verified from different angles. The results show that the new image colour analysis method can not only reveal the true colour components of the target image; furthermore, the real colour component of the target image also has high spectral data reconstruction accuracy, and the analysis results have strong adaptability.

Abstract:This paper considers colorization-based image compression in RGB color space. In compression, we store only the compressed luminance component of the original color image and a few representative pixels extracted from the original color image. In decompression, by explicitly introducing the relation between the luminance component and the original color image into diffusion equations, a linear reaction-diffusion system with Perona-Malik type diffusion coefficient is proposed to reconstruct R, G, and B channels simultaneously. The Perona-Malik type diffusion coefficient is a function of the luminance component and leads to interior degenerations, in general. It yields anisotropic smoothing in the restored color image and constrains the geometry of the restored image to follow the geometry of the luminance component. The existence and uniqueness of solutions for the proposed system with a specific class of diffusion coefficients are proved in a weighted Sobolev space. The selection of representative pixels has a big impact on reconstruction results. We also propose a local-optimal strategy that splits the original color image into a series of different size subimages and searches the optimal representative pixel in each subimage. Comparisons with recent colorization-based image compression methods, as well as transform-based JPEG and JPEG2000 standards, are performed to show the potential for successful compression applications of the proposed method.
Error Diffusion For Asymmetric Resolutions Output Planes

Abstract:Traditional error diffusion algorithm has been generally proved as an effective method for digital image halftoning, but it cannot generate a visually pleasing output on asymmetric-resolution output planes where vertical and horizontal resolution is not equal. In this sketch, we designed an optimization process to search for the diffusion coefficients for such output planes. Integrated within this process, a one-dimensional minimization algorithm is also applied to the automatic obtaining of the optimal modulation strength of thresholds that plays a key role in removing visual anomalies in the mid-tones. The work presented in this sketch is an extension to previous contribution [1]. Experiments showed that our method could generate parameters for high quality output on the asymmetric resolution output planes.

Abstract:Image composition in image editing involves merging a foreground image with a background image to create a composite. Inconsistent lighting conditions between the foreground and background often result in unrealistic composites. Image harmonization addresses this challenge by adjusting illumination and color to achieve visually appealing and consistent outputs. In this paper, we present a novel approach for image harmonization by leveraging diffusion models. We conduct a comparative analysis of two conditional diffusion models, namely Classifier-Guidance and Classifier-Free. Our focus is on addressing the challenge of adjusting illumination and color in foreground images to create visually appealing outputs that seamlessly blend with the background. Through this research, we establish a solid groundwork for future investigations in the realm of diffusion model-based image harmonization.

Abstract:The problem of color consistency between digital camera and monitor is resolved based on ICC Profile which is defined by the International Color Consortium (ICC). By the aid of device-independent color space, i.e. XYZ color space, the conversion relationship from digital camera color space to CRT monitor color space is built to achieve the real reproduction of the camera image on CRT display. The color reproduction results are verified by making use of the profile of a camera and that of a monitor. The experimental results show that this method behaves well in color reproduction.
