Abstract:A new capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection (C 4 D) sensor with an improved simulated inductor is developed in this work.The improved simulated inductor is designed on the basis of the Riordan-type floating simulated inductor.With the improved simulated inductor, the negative influence of the coupling capacitances is overcome and the conductivity measurement is implemented by the series resonance principle.The conductivity measurement experiments are carried out in three pipes with different inner diameters of 3.0 mm, 4.6 mm and 6.4 mm, respectively.The experimental results show that the designs of the new C 4 D sensor and the improved simulated inductor are successful.The maximum relative error of the conductivity measurement is less than 5%.Compared with the C 4 D sensors using practical inductors, the measurement accuracy of the new C 4 D sensor is comparable.The research results also indicate that the adjustability of a simulated inductor can reduce the requirement for the AC source and guarantee the interchangeableness.Meanwhile, it is recommended that making the potential of one terminal of a simulated inductor stable is beneficial to the running stability.Furthermore, this work indirectly verifies the possibility and feasibility of the miniaturization of the C 4 D sensor by using the simulated inductor technique and lays a good foundation for future research work.

Abstract:A novel kind of chip which is used in high precision and low cost arc detection circuit (leakage detection included) was designed. Based on CSMC's 0.5pm process, the pad is specially designed to produce a specific capacitor. Cascode current mirror and trimming capacitors are used to generate a precise timing signal. High speed, large bandwidth and low offset op-amps with rail to rail output stage are used to realize the function of precise amplification of the current information. The chip is designed and simulated on the platform of Cadence. The experimental result shows that the chip can detect arc which is wider than 150ns and generate the corresponding interrupt signal.

Abstract:This work focuses on the study of the application of simulated inductor technique to the design of (CD)-D-4 sensor. A grounded simulated inductor, which is on the basis of the classic Riordan simulated inductor, is designed. With the grounded simulated inductor, two kinds of (CD)-D-4 sensors based on series resonance principle are developed. One is the new (CD)-D-4 sensor A, which implements the conductivity measurement by the current-to-voltage conversion. The other is the new (CD)-D-4 sensor B, which implements the conductivity measurement by the measurement of the differential voltage. Conductivity experiments were carried out in four pipes with inner diameters of 2.2 mm, 3.0 mm, 4.6 mm and 6.4 mm. The experimental results show that the designs of the grounded simulated inductor and the two kinds of new (CD)-D-4 sensors are successful. The experimental results also indicate that the sensitivity and the input-output characteristic of the (CD)-D-4 sensor A are better than that of the (CD)-D-4 sensor B. Besides, compared with a practical inductor, the grounded simulated inductor has a comparable performance and has the advantage of adjustable equivalent inductance. The research results obtained in this work can provide a useful reference for the further study of (CD)-D-4 sensor. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A novel inductive technique for the detection of microcantilever displacement for sensing applications was presented. We highlight the basic structure and evaluate its characteristics with the aid of modeling and simulation. Results generated by numerical simulations using ANSOFT are compared with those obtained from an equivalent circuit model using PSPICE. There are indications that the sensitivity of the inductive cantilever is about one order of magnitude higher as compared to piezoresistive silicon cantilevers of the same dimension under the same cantilever bending.

Abstract:This work reports a new simulated inductor which is suitable for a Contactless Electrical Tomography (CET) system and can effectively overcome the unfavorable influence of coupling capacitance on the measurement results. By detailed analysis and comparison, it is found that the grounded simulated inductor has a simple circuit construction but its output current is not equal to its input current, while the floating simulated inductor can be used as an independent inductor module but its circuit structure is relatively complex. A new simulated inductor is designed by compensating the currents from the common node of an introduced independent power source to the main circuit. The new simulated inductor combines the advantages of the grounded simulated inductor and the floating simulated inductor. It has the simple construction similar to that of the grounded simulated inductor and its input current is equal to the output current, which means it can be used as an independent module. The impedance measurement and practical image reconstruction experiments were carried out to verify the effectiveness of the new simulated inductor. The experimental results show that the design of the new simulated inductor is successful, and the performance of the impedance measurement is satisfactory. The signal-to-noise ratio of the CET system is improved. Meanwhile, the research work also indicates that in the case when the independent power source is not available, the new simulated inductor is also an effective alternative method. But the phase difference between input signal and output signal is approximately 90° when the elimination principle is realized.

Abstract:Planar coil is a non-contact measuring probe, which is applied widely. However, its inductance is so small (about 1 μH) that it is difficult to detect the coil’s signal.A novel different coefficient circuit is used in the study on signal detection of small inductance coil. Theoretical analysis and experimental result indicate that this technology can pick-up the signal change of planar coil and hold high sensitivity and stability using appropriate parameters.

Abstract:A simple digital inductance meter is designed and fabricated .The hardware part consists of the capacitance three‐point oscillation circuit and the shaping circuit .The software is compiled with VHDL , debugging through on Nesys3 development platform to realize the docking with the hardware part .The design process is given .The simulation and experimental results prove that this method can avoid the complicated arithmetic .This method can meet the need of the low power inductance test within a certain precision range .

Abstract:To find a solution for the metal strip deviation problem in actual production,an inductive detecting device,inductive centre sensing system is introduced.The output signal of measurement conversion module of general inductive sensor is analog signal,and the system requires external AC power,which is inconvenient.Starting from the basic principles of the inductive sensor,the system architecture is designed.The design and realization of the hardware interface circuit and MCU program are completed.Experiments show that the system can achieve precision which is prior to ±0.2 mm.

Abstract:Due to the influence of the connection distance between the mutual inductor primary circuit and the metering device secondary circuit, the detection induced current of the traditional method is extremely small, which cannot accurately detect the authentic situation of the wiring, resulting in long detection time and low detection accuracy. Therefore, this paper proposes the automatic detection method of the secondary circuit connection of the metering device mutual inductor. Through the voltage sampling circuit, the secondary circuit measurement data are obtained. Using the pulse signal shaping function and the ADE7753 chip to process the secondary circuit measurement data, the secondary circuit connection fault judgment is determined. According to the judgment, the electric energy meter is used, combined with the secondary circuit measurement data, and the automatic detection of the secondary circuit connection is achieved by calculation. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional detection method, the automatic detection method of the secondary circuit connection of the metering device mutual inductor designed in this paper achieves normal and stable detection induction current. There is no inductive current with an extremely small condition, the detection accuracy is high, and the detection time is short, indicating that the method is suitable for application in actual detection projects.

Abstract:Inductance coupling, caused by the mutual inductance between two circuits, is a very important factor in electromagnetic interference(EMI). While calculating the interference of a certain interference source to different locations, the traditional method is to simulate each location separately, which takes too long time and takes up more computer resources. This method is not conducive to the calculation of complex models, especially when it is necessary to calculate the mutual inductance of multiple locations in space. This paper proposes a new calculation method, which can quickly calculate the mutual inductance of the loop in any position on the space based on the simulation results, and save a lot of time while ensuring accuracy of results.

Abstract:It is difficult to start oscillation for the planar coils,because of their small inductance of 1μH,relatively large resistance and low Q-factor.A multi-channel signal detection system for planar inductance coils is presented based on an improved Clapp oscillatory circuit.With USB data transmission,the system uses time sharing scanning multiplexing method for multi-period synchronous frequency measurement.The experimental results show that the system can pick-up the alteration of magnitude order of 1nH for the inductance parameter of the planar inductance coil array,which have the inductance range between 0.5 and 1.77 μH,and can realize the measurement of 42 channels within 1 s.The software of the system is developed based on virtual instruments technology and achieves a good flexibility and extensibility.

Abstract:In this paper, a new online detection system for dry-type air-core reactor is built to inspect inter-turn short circuit faults and a new fault detection method is discussed. The online detection system consists of five units, filtering unit, devices protecting unit, data processing unit, isolation unit, and human-computer interaction unit. Following the discussion of the measuring hardware, a software realization of this online detection system is described in detail. Thus, the experimental and simulation results will be offered to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system.

Abstract:Magnetic fluid is usually used as a variably inductive core in inclination measurement sensor because it is provided with both liquidity and magnetism. This paper presents an inductive sensor based on magnetic fluid, detecting level and small inclination angles against horizontal plane. The working principle is introduced firstly, and then the theoretical analysis for principle of detection is deduced. Furthermore, the influencing factors are extracted from the principle function and are testified by experiment results. Finally, one kind of structures is designed to set up experiment. The experimental results showed that the sensor provides a signal proportionally with the inclination angle, which fit well with theoretical conclusion. The sensor sensitivity is proportional with magnetic susceptibility, with pumping frequency, and with the peak value of driving current.

Abstract:To analyze and design the detecting structure of electrostatic inductive electric field sensors, it is crucial to determine the capacitance. This study proposes a model for the theoretical analysis of the capacitance of the detecting structure of the electrostatic inductive electric field sensor. The aim is to achieve high calculation accuracy and deepen the fundamental understanding of high performance. Using Schwarz-Christoffel mapping, a reasonably simplified and approximative solution program is developed. The precision is comparable to that of a finite element solver. The calculation results exhibit good agreement with the simulation results from finite element analysis when various parameter ratios are used. Notably, the calculation results of the analytical model are verified by the measured data of a realistic electrostatic sensor. Using the analytical model, a parametric study of the detecting structure is conducted, leading to the determination of the final optimized, technically achievable device structures.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce an efficient algorithm for identifying conductive objects using induction data derived from eddy currents. Our method consists of first extracting geometric features from the induction data and then matching them to precomputed data for known objects from a given dictionary. The matching step relies on fundamental properties of conductive polarization tensors and new invariance properties introduced in this paper. A new shape identification scheme is developed and tested in numerical simulations in the presence of measurement noise. Resolution and stability properties of the proposed identification algorithm are investigated.

Abstract:Aimed at the existing circumstances that traditional indnctive displacement sensors and its measuring systems can not satisfy requirements both in precision and in sampling frequency,the paper introduces a measuring method for high-precision dynamic displacement measuring.Using half-bridge inductive sensors as probes,basing on integrated signal-processing circuit and Δ-Σ Analog-to-Digital converter,the system combined high-speed over-sampling method with average-filtering method to fulfill the precision measurement of dynamic micron-displacement.Experimental data proves that stability performances better than ±0.01μm when speed is limited under 100 Hz.
