Abstract:Impatiens longshanensis (The LSID for the name Impatiens longshanensis is: 77219154-1) sp. nov. and I. lihengiana (The LSID for the name I. lihengiana is: 77219153-1) sp. nov., from Hunan, China, are described and illustrated here. The molecular phylogenetic study suggests that I. longshanensis and I. lihengiana should be placed in the I. sect. Impatiens. A detailed description, diagnostic characters between the two new species and allied species, pollen and seed morphology, and color photographs are provided. In addition, based on wide sampling, we found that the longifilamenta group, an endemic group to China, whose members have basal lobes of lateral united petals with long filamentous hairs, shows significant morphological variability. In this paper, we discuss the taxonomic significance of morphological characteristics within this group. Based on a literature review and observation of living materials in the field, an updated identification key for this group is also proposed.

Abstract:Based on inferences from morphological, chemical and phylogenetic analysis using ITS sequences, a new species of Alectoria is described from the Hengduan Mountains in southwestern China, A. spinosa Li S. Wang & Xin Y. Wang sp. nov, it has dull yellowish fruticose thallus with abundant pseudocyphellae, which is the main character of Alectoria, and differs from all the other Alectoria species by having isidia-like spinules on the soralia. Two species of Alectoria are confirmed in China, their morphological and chemical traits, together with their geographical distributions in China, are discussed, and a key to the species is provided.

Abstract:We describe a new fungal species of the genus Lentithecium, collected from dead culms of Artemisia sp. in Songhua Reservoir at Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. Multi-gene phylogenetic analyses of LSU, ITS, SSU, and tef1-α sequence data showed that our new fungal strain belongs to Lentithecium and is well separated from all other extant species of Lentithecium. Lentithecium yunnanensis sp. nov. is compared with all the extant species by morphological characteristics, culture characteristics, host, and location information and is the first report of Lentithecium from China on Artemisia. A comprehensive description, a color photo plate of microcharacteristics, and a phylogenetic tree to show the position of the new species are provided.

Abstract:Neolentinus is a significant genus, belonging to Gloeophyllaceae, with important economic and ecological values, which are parasites on decaying wood of broad-leaf or coniferous trees, and will cause brown rot. However, the taxonomic study is lagging behind to other groups of macrofungi, especially in China. In view of this, we conducted morphological and molecular phylogenetic studies on this genus. We have discovered new types of cheilocystidia and with extremely long lamellae in Neolentinus , and, thus proposed it as a new species— Neolentinus longifolius . At the same time, we clarified the distribution of Neolentinus cyathiformis in China and provided a detailed description. Moreover, we also described two common species, viz. Neolentinus lepideus and Neolentinus adhaerens . All the species are described based on the Chinese collections. The key to the reported species of Neolentinus from China is provided. And the phylogeny of Neolentinus from China is reconstructed based on DNA sequences of multiple loci including the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, the large subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nLSU), and the translation elongation factor 1- α gene ( tef-1 α ). In addition, full morphological descriptions, illustrations, color photographs, taxonomic notes, and all the available sequences of Neolentinus species are provided.

Abstract:A new species of Lentibulariaceae, Pinguicula gongshanensis, is described and illustrated from western Yunnan, China. Morphologically, it is similar to Pinguicula alpina but differs from the latter by its corolla with 8-12 brown stripes on the tube and spur, yellow corolla lip, corolla tube with yellow pubescence inside, glandular pilose pedicel, and calyx.

Abstract:Introduction: The genus Laccaria has been reported from temperate and tropical areas and is an important constituent in forest ecosystems. However, the species diversity of Laccaria in Southwest China (Yunnan) has been underestimated. Methods: In this paper, descriptions based on morphological and multi-gene sequence data from internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, large subunit ribosomal RNA gene (nrLSU), translation elongation factor 1-α (TEF1α) and the polymerase II second largest subunit (RPB2) of three new Laccaria species from Southwest China (Yunnan) are reported. Results: Two of these were characterized by orange pileus and globose to subglobose basidiospores: L. cinnabarina and L. spinulosa. While L. cinnabarina has orange red colored basidiocarps with conspicuously pellucid-striate pattern, and a fibrillose stipe with longitudinally striations, L. spinulosa has a brownish orange to brown fruiting body with light white pruinae and 2-spored basidia. Laccaria longistriata is characterized by brown to flesh-colored basidioma, prominently striate to sulcate pileus and globose to subglobose basidiospores. Discussion: The three new species were described, illustrated and compared with closely related species in morphology and phylogeny.

Abstract:Amana yunmengensis, a new species from Yunmeng Lakes region in China is described and illustrated in this study. It resembles A. edulis and A. baohuaensis but differs in several features. The principal components analysis of morphological data identified four distinct clusters: A. anhuiensis, A. edulis, A. hejiaqingii and A. yunmengensis. Cytological observation revealed that A. yunmengensis is diploid (2n = 2x = 24). Molecular phylogenetic analyses further support it as a new species.

Abstract:Lyophyllum lixivium sp. nov., collected from southwestern China, is described, illustrated, and discussed based on morphological characteristics and molecular data (ITS and nrLSU). Lyophyllum lixivium has umbonate to slightly depressed pileus, a cylindrical stipe that slightly enlarges towards the base, fuzz at the base, basidiospores mostly broadly ellipsoid, rarely fusiform lacrymoid or amygdaliform with an acute apex in side view, abundant clamp connections at the pileus surface and hymenophoral trama. Morphologically and phylogenetically similar species were compared with L. lixivium in this study.

Abstract:Lysionotus coccinus G.W. Hu & Q.F. Wang, a distinct new species from Yingjiang County, southwestern Yunnan Province, China, is described and illustrated. It belongs to L. sect. Lysionotus, but has scarlet flowers while all other known species in this section have white, yellow, purple or pink flowers. Color photographs and a chart are provided for comparing the new species with related species.

Abstract:Lilium shenxianjuense, a new species of Liliaceae from Zhejiang, China, is described with illustrations. Phylogenetic analysis based on complete plastomes places the new species as sister to a clade that comprises species of L. sect. Sinomartagon. Morphologically, L. shenxianjuense is like L. concolor and L. lancifolium, but differs in habitat preferences and morphology. The plastome is like those of other species of Lilium in gene content and structure. The new species is critically endangered and in need of urgent protection.

Abstract:The genus Laccaria is a type of cosmopolitan and ecologically important fungal group. Members can form ectomycorrhizal associations with numerous trees, and some species are common edible fungi in local markets. Although some new species from China are recently published, the species diversity of Laccaria is still unclear in China. In this study, some samples of Laccaria were collected from southern China, and morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses based on the multilocus dataset of ITS-LSU-tef1-rpb2 confirmed five new species. Laccaria miniata, L. nanlingensis and L. neovinaceoavellanea were collected from subtropical broad-leaved forests, and L. rufobrunnea and L. umbilicata were collected from subtropical mixed forests of southwest China. Full descriptions, illustrations, comparisons with similar species and phylogenetic analysis are provided.

Abstract:Two new species Laccariapseudoalba and L.subroseoalbescens are described and illustrated, based on morphological characteristics and molecular phylogenetic analysis. Two new records, Laccariaumbilicata and L.yunnanensis from Thailand, are also reported. Laccariasubroseoalbescens is characterized by small basidiomata, stipe equal with an enlarged base, and nearly subclavate, pale pink to light orange. Laccariapseudoalba is characterized by pale orange to orange white pileus, has umbo when young on the pileus, and fistulose stipe of the pale to pastel red color. Phylogenetic analysis based on sequence data from rDNA internal transcribed spacer ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 rDNA (ITS), nuc 28S rDNA (28S), RNA polymerase II subunit 2 (rpb2), and translation elongation factor 1-α (tef1-α) are provided as further evidence. Molecular analysis confirms the phylogenetic positions of the two new species and two new records. The differences in characteristics of these two new species and closely related species are discussed herein.

Abstract:The diversity of lignicolous freshwater fungi of China is currently being studied. In this paper, fresh collections of Kirschsteiniothelia species from submerged wood in northwestern Yunnan Province, China, were reported. The phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU and SSU sequence data placed the isolates of the taxa within the family Kirschsteiniotheliaceae. Three new species, Kirschsteiniothelia aquatica, K. cangshanensis and K. fluminicola are introduced, based on their distinct morphology and evidences from molecular phylogeny. A detailed description of Kirschsteiniothelia rostrata, a new record for China is provided.

Abstract:Two new taxa of Zhuliangomyces, Z. bambusus and Z. terrus, from Hainan Province of China, a tropical region, are proposed based on morphology and molecular systematics. Zhuliangomyces bambusus is characterized by its light brown basidiomata with a grayish tone at age, striate pileus margin, a viscid annulus, predominantly subglobose basidiospores, abundant clamp connections, and habitat in bamboo duff. Zhuliangomyces terrus possesses a chocolate or dark brown pileus when young, brown to pale brown when mature, a non-striate pileus margin, a viscid annulus, predominantly broadly ellipsoid basidiospores, plentiful clamp connections, and it fruits on soil. These two new species are distinctive from related species in the genus Zhuliangomyces, forming two well-supported monophyletic lineages in the phylogenetic tree of the concatenated dataset of ITS-LSU. This is also the first time that the genus is found in tropical China. A key to this genus is also provided.

Abstract:Gongronella had accommodated only two species for more than half a century and as many as 17 new species have been described in this genus since 2015. However, no systematic studies were conducted for this genus so far. The distribution, substrate and morphology of all known species in Gongronella are analysed herein. Meanwhile, with the support of phylogenetic and morphological evidence, six new species (G. abortosporangiasp. nov., G. apophysatasp. nov., G. bawanglingensissp. nov., G. inconstanssp. nov., G. pingtangensissp. nov. and G. reniformissp. nov.) are proposed and G. pamphilae is recorded from China for the first time. The phylogenetic tree was constructed using ITS+LSU+TEF+ACT+RPB1 and the results were basically the same as ITS+LSU. All species of Gongronella, except G. namwonensis from fresh water, were isolated from soil. The genus is distributed worldwide, mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. A synoptic key is provided for a total of 24 species (18 species previously published and six species newly described herein), except for G. banzhaoae due to unavailable protologue, type and living culture. No morphologies were described when G. pamphilae was proposed. Thanks to the strains isolated in this study, G. pamphilae is included in the key and reported as a Chinese new record. This is the first comprehensive taxonomy and phylogeny of the genus Gongronella.
