Abstract:Coal is an important basic energy source, widely distributed throughout the world, but resource abundance is uneven. Despite the need to develop and form new energy sources, coal energy maintains its dominant position. However, due to the uneven distribution and non-renewable nature of coal resources, the relationship between the supply and demand of coal resources is tight. The rational exploitation of coal and reducing resource mining wastes are particularly important at the present stage. The original mining method of the Zhangjiamao coal mine resulted in a large waste of coal resources. After replacing the “110 construction method”, the original advanced end-support was canceled, which saved a lot of process time and engineering costs and greatly improved the mine production efficiency. With an average mining depth of +300 m, the working face is in a safe and stable state, and the 110-mining process has little impact on surface subsidence. Its successful application provides a reference experience for other mines to promote resource-saving and efficient mining.

Abstract:Smart mines are not only the ultimate transformation model of the traditional coal industry but the best approach to drive the intelligence of classical mines as well. To realize the transformation of mines from tradition to wisdom, this paper proposes the key technologies for building smart mines and discusses the construction of its systems. Furthermore, through the design of technology and system platform, the application technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, artificial intelligence, etc. are organically integrated into the system construction of the smart mine, to achieve the overall intelligence of mine development, excavation, transportation, selection, safety production management, and also realize the safe, efficient and green mine production and operation objectives.

Abstract:To maintain high-level economic development, protect the ecological environment, and achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, the construction of green mines has become a critical issue in China. In this study, the importance of mineral resources to human society is discussed, and the construction experiences and sustainable development directions of green mines are summarized, which can provide valuable references for the global mining industry. The entry and management process in China was introduced to help understand green mines' construction objectives and tasks. Moreover, based on the successful construction cases of green mines, four typical green mine models are concluded: the green technology mining model, operation modernization mining model, stability mining model, and ecological restoration mining model. In addition, the key construction elements of green mines are concluded, for example, the mining environment, mining methods, comprehensive utilization of resources, energy conservation, emission reduction, scientific and technological innovation and intelligence, and enterprise-land stability, which provided the directions and guidance for green mine construction.

Abstract:Large-scale mining activities have induced numerous non-negligible eco-geological environmental issues that seriously threaten regional ecological security. Construction and optimization of an ecological security pattern (ESP) can aid coordination of mineral resource development and ecological protection. An innovative method was proposed to construct and optimize ESP, which used ecosystem "function-dynamics-structure" conceptual framework, disaster disturbance risk index, incorporating ecosystem services importance index into minimum cumulative resistance (MCR) theory (MCRS) model, and gravity model. Specifically, ecological sources are quantitatively cataloged using ecosystem "function-dynamics-structure" conceptual framework. Ecological resistance surface is revised using the disaster disturbance risk index. Ecological corridors are extracted using the MCRS model. Regulation zones are defined by combining the optimized ESP with gravity model. The optimized ESP in Shuozhou city, China includes 67 ecological nodes, 625.97 km2 of primary ecological sources, 83.87 km2 of secondary ecological sources, 534.18 km of primary ecological corridors, and 282.28 km of secondary ecological corridors. These form the spatial pattern of "two horizontal, four vertical and four circles", which will be used to maintain ecological process continuity and ecological flow within the study area. Corresponding suggestions are proposed to guide the planning of each regulation zone. The restrictive, protective, and suitable development zone areas are 1131.72 km2, 4255.47 km2 and 5238.93 km2, respectively. This methodology is not only suitable for determination of ESPs in coal mining areas, but also provides an approach, i.e., ecosystem "function-dynamics-structure" conceptual framework and MCRS model, that can be used to coordinate sustainable resource exploitation and ecological protection worldwide.

Abstract:At present, China's intelligent coal mine construction is still in the primary development stage. The integrated development of a new generation of information and communication technology and the coal industry is accelerating, and this industry's intelligent green transformation and upgrading is being promoted. With the continuous acceleration of China's intelligent coal mine construction and the continuous improvement in the degree of coal mine intelligence, system compatibility, information acquisition, and intelligent research have raised awareness of new mining safety risks. Based on the analysis of the process of China's intelligent construction, this paper describes the safety management and control risks and the technical challenges faced by China's intelligent coal mine construction in terms of norms and standards, data acquisition, subsystem and terminal sensors, multisystem integration, safety risk management, and control ability. It is important to make full use of the collaborative advantages of intelligent scientific and technological coal mine resources. Technological innovation and intelligent equipment safety access verification need to be supported, so as to promote the intelligent and high-quality development of coal mines.

Abstract:Abstract This study considered the role of coal as China’s basic energy source and examines the development of the coal industry. We focused on the intelligent development of coal mines, and introduced the “Chinese mode” of intelligent mining in underground coal mines, which uses complete sets of technical equipment to propose classification and grading standards. In view of the basic characteristics and technical requirements of intelligent coal mine systems, we established a digital logic model and propose an information entity and knowledge map construction method. This involves an active information push strategy based on a knowledge demand model and an intelligent portfolio modeling and distribution method for collaborative control of coal mines. The top-level architecture of 5G+ intelligent coal mine systems combines intelligent applications such as autonomous intelligent mining, human–machine collaborative rapid tunneling, unmanned auxiliary transportation, closed-loop safety control, lean collaborative operation, and intelligent ecology. Progress in intelligent mining technology was described in terms of a dynamic modified geological model, underground 5G network and positioning technology, intelligent control of the mining height and straightness of the longwall working face, and intelligent mining equipment. The development of intelligent coal mines was analyzed in terms of its imbalances, bottlenecks, and the compatibility of large-scale systems. Implementation ideas for promoting the development of intelligent coal mines were proposed, such as establishing construction standards and technical specifications, implementing classification and grading standards according to mining policy, accelerating key technology research, and building a new management and control model.

Abstract:From the view of the computer integration production, the conception of the digital coal mine is proposed as the strategy of the coal mine CIMS(Coalition for Improving Maternity Services). The digital coal mine is an integrated system, which is established upon the digital expression, operated by information, implemented based on artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Abstract:In order for to fully understand the operation in the pits in advance and reduce risk of serious accidents in coal mining industry such as explosion,fire and collapse,a realistic mining production environment is simulated for the safety education and training.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the environment in the pits,combined with the 3ds Max modeling techniques and VC+ + calling the OpenGL graphics interface techniques,the models are bulit by using virtual reality technology and well optimized based on the progressive mesh LOD algorithm for edge collapse.A friendly man-machine interactive virtual system is realized by using high-tech computer technology.
The Optimized Roadway Layouts and Surrounding Rock Control Technology of the Fully Mechanized Mining Surface with Large Mining Heights in High-Gas Mines

Abstract:Many problems exist in the layout of working surfaces in high-gas mines, such as the low efficiency of roadway excavation, difficulties in maintenance after excavation, and serious resource wastes due to difficulties in recovering coal pillars between roadways. Taking the project profile in the west wing mining area of Sihe Coal Mine as the background, this work proposed an optimization plan for the staggered-layer arrangement of roadways. The minimum retained size of the coal pillar was calculated through theoretical analysis, and the plastic failure and deformations of surrounding rocks under different coal pillar sizes and roadway layouts were compared based on finite difference numerical simulations. The reasonable retained size of the coal pillar was determined to be 45 m, and the roadway layout was determined according to the distribution of coal and rock strata in the mining field. The technical measures of base angle pressure relief blasting and strengthening support were proposed to ensure the safety and stability of surrounding rocks of roadways during the service period after the layout plan was optimized. Similar simulation tests were used to study the damage deformations and stress changes of the blasting pressure relief floor. On-site tests showed that the optimized roadway layout greatly improved the recovery rate of coal resources. In addition, surrounding rocks had good stability, and they could be simply repaired or serve the next working surface directly without being repaired. These research results provide a scientific basis and useful reference for similar projects.

Abstract:Modern mining engineering has become a huge system project with the increased intensification and complexity of mining engineering, which interwinds, involving many factors. Ethical issues in the main body of mining engineering have become more and more prominent. What must complement ongoing discussions is a more professional and systematic analysis that engages with mining engineering on the socio-technical systems. In this paper, first, the connotation and basic principles of mining engineering ethics are put forward. Then, the ethical responsibilities that mining engineers may face are analyzed. It is suggested that the code of mining engineering ethics can, in practice, provide engineers with the necessary guidelines to avoid mine accidents caused by wrong decisions. In addition, a case base is introduced to train students to analyze engineering ethics in practical cases, and four typical case studies are discussed in detail. Then, the implementation paths of mining engineering ethics are studied, which are centered on the concept of safe, efficient, green, and low-carbon development. Finally, we suggest that improving the ethical norms of mining engineering, personnel training system, and moral supervision of mining projects will enable engineers to deal with the ethical issues of mining engineering more effectively, thereby improving the sustainability of mining engineering.

Abstract:As the crucial material basis for the development of human society, mineral resources (MRs) are facing a serious dilemma of shortage. Strengthening the intensive utilization of existing resources has great significance for ensuring the sustainable and stable supply of MRs and promoting the realization of ecological mining. This paper, taking the city of Yangquan, China as a case study, explores the intensive utilization of MRs based on its scientific connotation, and proposes dynamic improvement paths for strengthening the intensification of MRs utilization, thus filling a gap in this domain. The background conditions of mines and the basic cases of corresponding mining enterprises are all indicators presented by the resource itself in the process of transforming minerals into useful products that constitute a basic framework for identifying and strengthening the intensification of MRs utilization. The results show that mining enterprises are the core of intensive utilization. The extract recovery rate of mining enterprises contributes the most to the intensive utilization of resources. Meanwhile, the input-output level and per capita output level of mining enterprises and the ore loss during mining process are also highly concerned targeting the intensification. The intensive utilization level of large mines is usually relatively high, indicating that mine scale does have an impact on the intensive utilization of resources, but when it reaches a certain scale, the impact will gradually decrease. Besides, there are still weak links in the development process of mines, regardless of the intensive degree. Thus, from the perspective of enterprise governance, corresponding dynamic improvement paths (fundamental optimization-comprehensive optimization-strategic optimization) are adopted to make an attempt at increasing the intensive degree of MRs utilization. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a new course of the realizability to strengthen the intensification of MRs utilization.

Abstract:This paper presents a case study of an optimized combination of mine water control, treatment, utilization and reinjection to achieve the zero discharge of mine water. Mine water has been considered a hazard and pollution source during underground mining, so most mining enterprises directly discharge mine water to the surface after simple treatment, resulting in a serious waste of water. Moreover, discharging a large amount of mine water can destroy the original groundwater balance and cause serious environmental problems, such as surface subsidence, water resource reduction and contamination, and adverse impacts on biodiversity. The Zhongguan iron mine is in the major groundwater source area of the Hundred Springs of Xingtai, which is an area with a high risk of potential subsidence. To optimize the balance between mining and groundwater resources, a series of engineering measures was adopted by the Zhongguan iron mine to realize mine water control, treatment, utilization, and reinjection. The installation of a closed grout curtain has greatly reduced the water yield of deep stopes in the mine; the effective sealing efficiency reaches 80%. Nanofiltration membrane separation was adopted to treat the highly mineralized mine water; the quality of the produced water meets China's recommended class II groundwater standard. Low-grade heat energy from the mine water is collected and utilized through a water-source heat pump system. Finally, zero mine water discharge is realized through mine water reinjection. This research provides a beneficial reference for mines with similar geological and hydrogeological conditions to achieve environmentally sustainable mining.

Abstract:The share of new energy in China's energy consumption structure is expanding, posing serious challenges to the national grid's stability and reliability.As a result, it is critical to construct large-scale reliable energy storage infrastructure and smart microgrids. Based on the spatial resource endowment of abandoned mines' upper and lower wells and the principle characteristics of the gravity energy storage system, an intelligent microgrid system model for abandoned mines based on gravity energy storage is proposed, and the system's feasibility and key influencing factors are discussed and analyzed from the standpoint of economic benefits. The gravity energy storage system principle, system structure, subsurface powerhouse, underground storage, and transit system are all examined and analyzed.The viability of establishing intelligent microgrid systems in abandoned mines is proved using the resource conditions, technical conditions, economic advantages, and social benefits of Panyidong Mine in Huainan Coal Mine.The findings indicate that the project concept has good economic and social benefits as well as practical viability.Next, from the perspectives of technology, policy, and the ecological environment, several recommendations for the development of a smart microgrid system based on gravity energy storage power station are made. This study presents a novel concept for the advancement of energy storage technology and the reuse of abandoned mine resources, which is critical to the long-term development of abandoned mine resources and the advancement of energy storage technology.

Abstract:Abstract The development of green mining is an important measure to improve the ecological civilization construction in the mining field and build a beautiful China. On the basis of extensive research, the author analyzes the development progress of green mining in China from 7 aspects. Based on the unique practical experience of various regions, the author summarizes four development models, namely: multi-industry integration development model, integrated development model of mining, processing, manufacturing and transaction, comprehensive development and utilization mode of mine and land, and layout optimization driving model, and analyzes the problems faced by green mining in three aspects: technological innovation, working mechanism, and system construction. Based on this, countermeasures and suggestions are proposed: the first is to promote technological innovation, develop and promote new efficient technologies in the development and utilization of mineral resources; the second is to promote management innovation and establish a new working mechanism for green mining; the third is to promote institutional innovation and effectively play the guiding role of policies.

Abstract:As a new mode of mining development, green mine optimizes the development and utilization of mineral resources with a minimum of the environmental impact, and how to objectively evaluate the construction level of the green mine has become the key to promote green mine construction and it has also been an important path to achieve sustainable development of mineral resources. The evaluation system and methods of green mine construction, however, are not perfect at present as the existing green mine evaluation mostly adopts the index scoring accumulation method, with which the internal relations between the indicators are ignored, and the subjective influence it causes is too large. Based on the framework model of driving forces, pressure, state, impact and response, an indicator system is constructed in this paper to express the internal relationship between indicators more intuitively. Combined with subjective and objective combination weighting method to determine the index weight, TOPSIS and coupling coordination degree models are introduced to quantitatively evaluate the spatio-temporal evolution process of green mine construction and the coupling coordination between subsystems, analyze and obtain the main obstacle factors affecting the green mine construction of enterprises, and provide suggestions and countermeasures for the improvement of green mine construction of enterprises. The applicability of the model is verified by an actual case study of a mine in China. The model enriches the connotation of green mines, making the evaluation process and results fairer and more reliable, thus providing an effective way to promote the sustainable development of mines.
