Abstract:The standardization of animal models of traditional Chinese medicine is an important link in promoting modernization of TCM. This paper reviewed the animal models of traditional etiology of TCM, modern medicine etiology and pathology and combination of disease and syndrome, and regarded the animal model of combination of disease and syndrome as a new development trend of the modern research of TCM. The animal model of combination of disease and syndrome is the ideal animal model, and it has many advantages such as conform to the theory of TCM, close to the characteristics of TCM syndrome, stabilization, reliable and practicable. Although animal model of combination of disease and syndrome is still in the exploratory stage, with the innovation of research method in technology and way of thinking, the specii cation of model evaluation system, the purii cation of preparation factors, the improvement of drug counterevidence method, it will be expected to the important force to reveal the essence and promote the modernization of TCM.

Abstract:Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has demonstrated unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of chronic and complex diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and diabetes. It has also played a major role in the fight against sudden infectious diseases such as COVID-19. Therefore, how to quickly identify effective constituents from the complex system is the most critical issue in the study of modernization of TCM. Based on this, this article summarizes the rapid identification strategies and multiscale screening models, which provides ideas for analyzing the scientific connotation and explaining the mechanism of TCM.

Abstract:With the increasing demand of medical research, disease animal models are widely used to study the mechanism of human disease initiation and development, drug screening, and treatment evaluation. The development of different kinds of disease animal models is reviewed. The advantages of China and the gap between China and the world in this field are analyzed. This review covers the fields of cancer, neurological diseases and mental health, infectious and immune diseases, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and drug screening. Abstract:THE STUDY WAS THE FIRST TIME TO ESTABLISH AND COMPARE TWO RAT MODELS OF TWO COMMON SYNDROMES: Kidney Yang Deficiency syndrome (KYDS) in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and abnormal savda syndrome (ASS) in traditional Uighur medicine (TUM). Then, we also established and evaluated rat models of combining disease and syndrome models of asthma with KYDS or ASS. Results showed that usage of the high dose of corticosterone (CORT) injection or external factors could successfully establish the KYDS or ASS rat models, and the two models had similar changes in biological characterization, abnormal behaviors, dysfunction of hypothalamic-pituitary-target organ axes (HPTOA), and sympathetic/parasympathetic (S/P) nerve system but varied in different degrees. The rat models of combining disease and syndrome of asthma with KYDS or ASS had either pathological characteristics of asthma such as airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR), airway inflammation, airway remodeling, which were more serious than allergy exposure alone, or the syndrome performance of Kidney Yang Deficiency in TCM and abnormal savda in TUM. These findings provide a biological rationale for further investigation of combining disease and syndrome model of asthma as an effective animal model for exploring asthma based on the theory of traditional medicine.

Abstract:[Objective] To establish an inspection method of TCM syndrome in animal model.[Methods] The animal model for inspecting of TCM syndrome research using digital camera and Photoshop 7.0 software was established.[Results] The author discovered some different sensation of inspection and existence the consistency of tongue,nail and tail brightness and pigment component value at some extent.[Conclusion] In inspection of mouse both inspecting nail and inspecting tail can be added.
[Disease-syndrome combination in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in andrology: Confusions and countermeasures in studies]

Abstract:Researches on the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of the disease-syndrome combination approach in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine are becoming a hot spot in andrology, but many recent studies of this kind have failed to explain the connotation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in andrology. Related existing problems include repeated researches into the same indexes of action mechanisms of different therapeutic principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Chinese herbal compound and special prescriptions, studies focusing on individual diseases but ignoring symptoms, immature syndrome models for studies of mechanisms, and too much attention to uncertain or immature target mechanisms. The stress should be placed on the action mechanisms of Chinese herbal compound and special prescriptions on male diseases and, what is more important, on the clarification of the essential principles of differentiation and treatment of TCM syndromes. In the recent years, proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics have shed some light upon researches into the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of the disease-syndrome combination approach in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in andrology. An insight into the TCM syndrome, a macroscopic inductive analysis, and a comprehension of such microcosmic aspects as the gene, protein, metabolism and metagenome may contribute to some breakthroughs and new ideas in the studies of disease-syndrome combination in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in andrology.

Abstract:The conception of whole and theory of system are the important features of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Among them many original ideas are also contained.Under the guidelines of theory of restoration at first,a research on the kidneyYang deficiency syndrome and the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis has been performed.Recently,employing the methods of systemic biology some researches in the field of kidneydeficiency syndrome(taking aging rats as a model) have been tried.Kidney essence was the key concept in TCM.According to the results of deep exploration on the concept of kidney essence in TCM the theory of stem cells in the connotation of kidney essence is suggested.It is provided that the kidney essence and stem cells are correlated and the herbs with invigorating kidney and replenishing essence can activate the intrinsic stem cells.

Abstract:The pharmacology of Chinese medicine is an academic discipline that studies the interaction between Chinese medicine and organism(including pathogens) by modern science and technology under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) theories. However, the pharmacology of Chinese medicine is mainly guided by the theories, techniques, and methods of modern medicine in the development, and TCM theories have been ignored to a certain extent, which does not conform to the action characteristics of Chinese medicine in essence. Since systematic research ideas, strategies, methods, and technologies that conform to the characteristics of TCM have not been established, it is unable to reveal the scientific connotation of TCM in the prevention and treatment of diseases. Therefore, according to the trend of the modern development of TCM and the research status of pharmacology of Chinese medicine, this study put forward the concept of pharmacology of combination of disease and syndrome and expounded the relevant background, content, methods, and significance of this concept. Abstract:Introduction: The fundamental theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) implies that when different diseases have the same pathogen, the syndromes of these individual diseases will be the same. "Treating different diseases with the same method" is a TCM principle suggesting that when different diseases have similar pathological changes during different stages of their development, the same method of treatment can be applied. Our study aims to analyze the concept "treating different diseases with the same method" from a molecular perspective, in order to clarify its biological basis and to objectively standardize future TCM syndrome research.Objective: The TCM syndromes Qi deficiency and blood stasis have similar pathogenesis in relation to coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke. We aim to use big data technology and complex network theory to mine the genes specifically relevant to these TCM syndromes. This study aims to explore the correlation between the biological indicators of CHD and stroke from a scientific perspective.Methods: Mining the relevant neuroendocrine-immune (NEI) genes by means of gene entity recognition, complex network construction, network integration, and decomposition to categorize relevant syndrome terms and establish a digital dictionary of gene specifically related to individual diseases. We analyzed the biological basis of "treating different diseases with the same method" from a molecular level using the TCMIP v2.0 platform in order to categorize the TCM syndromes most relevant to CHD and stroke.Results: We found 46 genes were involved in the TCM syndromes of Qi deficiency and blood stasis of CHD and stroke. The same genes and their molecular mechanism also appeared to be in close relation to inflammatory response, apoptosis, and proliferation.Conclusion: By using information extraction and complex network technology, we discovered the biological indicators of the TCM syndromes Qi deficiency and blood stasis of CHD and stroke. In the era of big data, our results can provide a new method for the researchers of TCM syndrome differentiation, as well as an effective and specific methodology for standardization of TCM.

Abstract:Irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) is a common intestinal condition that significantly impacts work efficiency and quality of life. The use of animal models is crucial for delving into the pathophysiology of IBS-D and exploring therapeutic options. However, a wide variety of animal models for IBS-D has been used in previous studies, posing a considerable challenge for researchers in selecting a suitable model. In this review, using the Web of Science database, we searched IBS-D-related research spanning from 2014 to 2023; described the differences in animal strains and modeling methods among various IBS-D features recapitulating models; summarized the frequency of model usage, pathogenesis, and pathological characteristics of these models; and discussed their current applications, limitations, and future perspectives. The objective is to offer theoretical guidance for future researchers, aiding them in choosing suitable animal models based on their experimental designs.

Abstract:The theory of “analogous patterns in the same disease” is important in the development of disease differentiation and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Syndrome differentiation and treatment were considered the characteristics of TCM. However, disease differentiation and treatment, which were included in the theory of “formula corresponds to the syndrome complex” by Dr Zhang Zhongjing, were neglected. In the modern technological environment, disease differentiation and treatment is the expansion and extension of syndrome differentiation and treatment. It is also an important way of promoting TCM development. Composite Denshen Pilulae (CDP) successfully passed Phase-II clinical trials of the Food and Drug Administration in the United States. One of the important reasons for this occurrence is that CDP adopted chronic myocardial ischemia of coronary heart disease as its indication, which met the international and modern practice of medicine. Clinical practice calls for enrichment of disease differentiation and treatment on the basis of further development of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. A favorable atmosphere needs to be created for innovative thought on this subject.
