Abstract:In the era of new media, the form of media transmission has been changing with each passing day.Meanwhile, with the advancement of medical and health care reform, the competition between hospitals is getting more fierce and the development of the hospital is faced up with pan-homogenization during their development.Besides, the frequent adverse medical events and the increasingly prominent tension between doctors and patients have also brought a great challenge to the hospital brand construction.The effects of the precision publicity in expanding brand coverage and promoting the social awareness of the hospital were analyzed through the research on hospital's official WeChat public platform and the role of new media platform in the brand construction of public hospitals.

Abstract:Objective By studying the hospital use and perceptions of omnimedia publicity platforms to provide data support and decision suggestions for hospital publicity work.Methods Field survey was conducted with questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were used for data analysis.Results Official websites and official WeChat were recognized as the most important publicity platform by both hospitals and media compared with mobile App, hospital-made TV and broadcast. Although hospitals believe hospital newspaper and journals can play an important role in brand publicity, the media have a different attitude.Conclusion When hospitals create their official WeChat to promote publicity work, they should attach importance to official website as it is still the most important. Hospital should select appropriate platforms after a comprehensive consideration on the important of different publicity platforms so as to maximize the benefit. Integration of multi-media platforms into an effective organism could further improve the publicity effect of omnimedia.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the healthcare workers′ intention and actual actions to propagandize the knowledge about respiratory tract infection diseases and explore the influencing factors for the medical staff′s prop-aganda behaviors so as to provide scientific basis for prevention and control of respiratory tract infections . METHODS An anonymous and self administered questionnaire was distributed to the medical staff by uniformly trained investigators ,then the data were inputted by using Epitata3 .1 software ,and the statistical analysis was performed with the use of SPSS13 .0 software .RESULTS A total of 472 medical staff from 13 departments have been investigated ,91 .6% of whom grasped the right opportunity of propaganda of respiratory tract hygiene or cough etiquette ,50 .0% had strong behavioral intention and good actual behavior ,which showed the same traits ;both were better when touching a patient than only when seeing a patient and better to remind patients of using a medical mask than of using the tissue and alcohol-based hand rub .The medical staff′s behavior was not associated with the job title or working life but was related to the behavioral intention , job position , and gender . CONCLUSION It is necessary for the medical staff to strengthen the propaganda of respiratory tract hygiene to the patients and ,in particularly ,to execute in actual practice .

A Strategic Imperative for Promoting Hospital Branding: Analysis of Outcome Indicators

Abstract:Background: Optimizing the use of social media to promote hospital branding is important in the present digital era. In Taiwan, only 51.1% of hospitals have official Facebook fan pages. The numbers of likes for these hospitals are also relatively low. Objective: Our objective was to establish a special branding team for social media operation, led by top administrators of our hospital. Here we present our strategic imperative for promoting hospital branding as well as an analysis of its effectiveness. Methods: Led by top administrators, the branding team was formed by 11 divisions to create branding strategies. From 2016 to 2018, the team implemented action plans. All information unique to the hospital was posted on Facebook, as well as on the hospital's official website. To determine the plans' efficiencies, we obtained reference data from Google Analytics, and we compared Facebook Insights reports for 2016 with those for 2017 and 2018. Results: One of the branding team's main missions was to establish branding strategies and to integrate segmental branding messages. In each quarter we regularly monitored a total of 52 action plan indicators, including those for process and outcome, and discussed the results at team meetings. We selected 4 main performance outcome indicators to reflect the effectiveness of the branding efforts. Compared with 2016, the numbers of likes posted on the Facebook fan page increased by 61.2% in 2017 and 116.2% in 2018. Similarly, visits to the hospital website increased by 4.8% in 2017 and 33.1% in 2018. Most Facebook fan page and website viewers were in 2 age groups: 25 to 34 years, and 35 to 44 years. Women constituted 60.42% (14,160/23,436) of Facebook fans and 59.39% (778,992/1,311,605) of website viewers. According to the Facebook Insights reports, the number of likes and post sharing both increased in 2017 and 2018, relative to 2016. Comment messages also increased from 2016 to 2018 (P=.02 for the trend). The most common theme of posts varied over time, from media reports in 2016, to innovative services in both 2017 and 2018. Likes for innovative services posts increased from 2016 through 2018 (P=.045 for the trend). By the end of 2018, we recorded 23,436 cumulative likes for posts, the highest number among medical centers in Taiwan. Conclusions: We achieved the largest number of Facebook fans among all medical centers in Taiwan. We would like to share our experience with other hospitals that might be interested in engaging in social media for future communications and interactions with their patients.

Abstract:The performance appraisal of tertiary public hospitals is key to their high-quality development. Since 2019, Children′s Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine has taken the following measures to leverage performance appraisal. Namely promoting medical technology innovation to enhance the diagnosis and treatment capabilities of difficult and critical diseases; Reasonably setting a target system, improving the performance appraisal mechanism of the hospital; Improving operational efficiency, enhancing the sense of gain by children patients; Building a high-quality talent pool, promoting sustainable development, and effectively promoting high-quality development of hospitals. These measures can provide reference for promoting the high-quality development of hospitals.

Abstract:Abstract Background In the light of “Internet plus”, hospitals are following the trend of using mobile internet and adopting a strategy of spreading public health knowledge through mobile terminals. WeChat is a social media with the largest number of users in China. Its public account has become the most popular service among the public. Methods We examine the health communication of medical institutions on social media platforms. The WeChat public accounts of Zhejiang Provincial Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital and Jiangxi Provincial Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital were taken as cases to measure the communication effect from the following dimensions: update interval, content positioning and design, numbers of clicks and likes as well as topic types. Results The update interval of WeChat public account of Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was regular, compared with that of the other hospital. The accounts of the two hospitals both set up special sections to facilitate patients to obtain medical services online. There is an extremely significant difference between the two hospitals’ mean numbers of clicks ( p < 0. 001), compared with no significant difference between their mean numbers of likes. One-way analysis of variance suggests the type of topic on posts is significantly correlated with the number of clicks. Moreover, there is an extremely significant difference between public health knowledge and news propaganda. Conclusion The development of hospitals’ WeChat public accounts can promote people’s health and equity in accessing medical information and service, and also boost “Internet plus health care” service. The topic type of hospital’s news publicity is paid a relatively lower attention by users. Therefore, hospitals’ WeChat public accounts need to adjust their strategy from propaganda-oriented to users-centered, with topic planning and posts designed to fulfill users’ needs.

Analysis on Hospital News Report with Frame Theory:the Case of Peking University People's Hospital

Abstract:Objective To analyze hospital news and reports, so as to provide data support and decision-making proposals for the hospital publicity work.Methods The content analysis method under the Frame Theory flame was adopted to conduct statistical analysis on the news theme and news genre.Results Popular science news accounts for the largest proportion (724,41.6%), and academic news ranks the second (198,11.4%). News reporting and communication are the most frequently used news genre, the number of which are 1066 (61.3%) and 550 (31.6%) respectively. Conclusion Popular science about health and professional and academic knowledge are the hospital news themes to which the media pay the greatest attention. Dissemination of popular science about health and news about the profession and academia is a necessary means to build hospital brand and image. The hospital should strengthen the planning of in-depth news report, such as in-depth coverage of special topics and feature articles, which are currently insufficient, so as to improve the publicity work in the hospital.

Abstract:Physicians' referring and admitting behavior as well as their clinical management practices are major determinants of hospitals' profitability under prospective payment. Four techniques are available to hospitals that seek to increase market share: Recruitment and retention strategies. In planning the mix of specialties represented on staff, hospitals should consider the effects of a physician's practice on the hospital's case mix. Peer pressure. Peer review programs in hospitals as well as through medical or specialty societies may help persuade physicians to alter their use of services. Education and information programs. Hospitals can assist physicians in patient management by conducting economic grand rounds, developing committees to study and communicate cost data to physicians, and providing information on alternatives to hospitalization. Incentives. Putting physicians at risk by linking planned expenditures to hospital financial performance can influence practice patterns. Other techniques include offering limited partnerships to medical staff members and merging the hospital and medical staff into one corporation. Hospitals may also need to influence physicians away from ventures that compete directly with the institution, such as ambulatory surgery centers.

Abstract:This thesis offers a political history of PRC propaganda targeted at foreigners in the 20th and 21st century. It seeks to give an answer to the seeming contradiction that particularly over the last decade, China has repeatedly pledged to invest more resources into improving its image and influencing international public opinion, yet at the same time, there continue to be blunders of the most basic type, particularly in areas where China wants to influence foreigners’ opinions most. The thesis examines how and to what extent China has been able to adapt its external propaganda apparatus, initially set up on the basis of the Soviet propaganda model that depended on the ability of the Party to regulate the flow of information into and out of China, to the current global media environment marked by porous national borders and fast-paced flows of information across the globe. Drawing on internal publications, archival documents, openly available materials, and interviews, it combines a bird’s-eye perspective on the development of external propaganda in China over the course of the 20th and 21st century with in-depth reading and analysis of key texts. Two propositions are tested: First, that external factors, including foreign models that China learns from, have had significant impact on how Chinese external propaganda policy has developed and second, that previous choices the PRC has made for its external propaganda sector substantially restrict the options available to the CPC today. Arguing that external propaganda has been path dependent at various levels, this study explains the difficulties China’s external propaganda apparatus continues to face as well as what strategies people pushing for reforms have used to overcome historical, ideological, and bureaucratic baggage.
