Abstract:We obtain Bernoulli law of large numbers,Borel strong law of large numbers and recurrence theorem for bounded,independent or dependent random variable sequence {ξn}.As appllications,we get the extended Bernoulli law of large numbers,recurrence theorem in [1] and improves the extended Borel strong law of large numbers in [1].

For convergence ofSn in probability and with probability one, in [2],[3] etc., the following stronger condition is required: {Xn} is uniformly bounded by a random variableX,i.e.P(¦Xn¦⩾x)⩽P(¦X¦⩾x) for allx>0. Our paper aims at trying to drop this restriction.

Abstract:In this paper, by establishing a Borel–Cantelli lemma for a capacity which is not necessarily continuous, and a link between a sequence of independent random variables under the sub-linear expectation and a sequence of independent random variables on ℝ∞ under a probability, we give the sufficient and necessary conditions of the strong law of large numbers for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation, and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the convergence of an infinite series of independent random variables, without the assumption on the continuity of the capacities. A purely probabilistic proof of a weak law of large numbers is also given.

Abstract:We consider a class of dependent Bernoulli variables where the conditional success probability is a linear combination of the last few trials and the original success probability. We obtain its limit theorems including the strong law of large numbers, weak invariance principle, and law of the iterated logarithm. We also derive some statistical inference results which make the model applicable. Simulation results are exhibited as well to show that with small sample size the convergence rate is satisfying and the proposed estimators behave well.

Abstract:A general method to prove the strong law of large numbers is given by using the maximal tail probability. As a result the convergence rate of Sn/n for both positively associated sequences and negatively associated sequences is n-1/2(logn)1/2(loglogn)δ/2 for any δ>1. This result closes to the optimal achievable convergence rate under independent random variables, and improves the rates n-1/3(logn)2/3 and n-1/3(logn)5/3 obtained by Ioannides and Roussas [1999. Abstract:This paper considers a sequence of Bernoulli random variables which are dependent in a way that the success probability of a trial conditional on the previous trials depends on the total number of successes achieved prior to the trial. The paper investigates almost sure behaviors for the sequence and proves the strong law of large numbers under weak conditions. For linear probability functions, the paper also obtains the strong law of large numbers, the central limit theorems and the law of the iterated logarithm, extending the results by James et al. Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

Abstract:In this paper, motived by the notion of independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation initiated by Peng, we establish a three series theorem of independent random variables under the sub-linear expectations. As an application, we obtain the Marcinkiewicz's strong law of large numbers for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectations. The technical details are different from those for classical theorems because the sub-linear expectation and its related capacity are not additive.

Abstract:The sub-linear expectation space is a nonlinear expectation space having advantages of modeling the uncertainty of probability and distribution. In the sub-linear expectation space, we use capacity and sub-linear expectation to replace probability and expectation of classical probability theory. In this paper, the method of selecting subsequence is used to prove Marcinkiewicz’s strong law of large numbers under sub-linear expectation space. This result is a natural extension of the classical Marcinkiewicz’s strong law of large numbers to the case where the expectation is nonlinear. In addition, this paper also gives a theorem about convergence of a random series.

Abstract:An application of Levy's continuity theorem and Hankel transform allow us to establish a law limit theorem for the sequence $V_n=f(U)\sin(n U)$, where $U$ is uniformly distributed in $(0,1)$ and $f$ a given function. Further, we investigate the inverse problem by specifying a limit distribution and look for the suitable function $f$ ensuring the convergence in law to the specified distribution. Our work recovers and extends existing similar works, in particular we make it possible to sample from known laws including Gaussian and Cauchy distributions.

Abstract:Using proof-theoretic methods in the style of proof mining, we give novel computationally effective limit theorems for the convergence of the Cesaro-means of certain sequences of random variables. These results are intimately related to various Strong Laws of Large Numbers and, in that way, allow for the extraction of quantitative versions of many of these results. In particular, we produce optimal polynomial bounds in the case of pairwise independent random variables with uniformly bounded variance, improving on known results; furthermore, we obtain a new Baum-Katz type result for this class of random variables. Lastly, we are able to provide a fully quantitative version of a recent result of Chen and Sung that encompasses many limit theorems in the Strong Laws of Large Numbers literature.

Abstract:For a probability measure preserving dynamical system $(\mathcal{X},f,\mu)$, the Poincaré Recurrence Theorem asserts that $\mu$-almost every orbit is recurrent with respect to its initial condition. This motivates study of the statistics of the process $X_n(x)=\text{dist}(f^n(x),x))$, and real-valued functions thereof. For a wide class of non-uniformly expanding dynamical systems, we show that the time-$n$ counting process $R_n(x)$ associated to the number recurrences below a certain radii sequence $r_n(\tau)$ follows an \emph{averaged} Poisson distribution $G(\tau)$. Furthermore, we obtain quantitative results on almost sure rates for the recurrence statistics of the process $X_n$.
