Abstract:A hybrid AC-DC-AC topology for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is investigated, which is composed of a two level three-phase four-wire rectifier and a three level T-type inverter. It has distinct advantages for the applications of on line UPS. The grid side power quality can be easily satisfied with the front-end two level three-phase rectifier. Since output voltage's THD is challenge to UPS with sever nonlinear load, the T-type inverter is used to enhance the load power quality with higher conversion efficiency. The rectifier is transformed into step-up converter for the battery during the grid faults. The efficiency optimization of the proposed UPS with the hybrid AC-DC-AC topology is studied. The control strategies for the UPS are investigated. At last, the UPS prototype with 200kVA is designed and tested to validate the performance of the proposed UPS.

Abstract:Remote power-supply technology and its states and foreground in modern application on network communication facilities were introduced.A new surveillant block design strategy with high compatibility and modularized was proposed.The structure of remote power-supply system,the hardware design scheme and software strategy on power-management of the power-distribution manager were presented.Experimental results indicate that the new design improves the efficiency of surveillance on the facilities under control,and realizes power distribution with accuracy and intelligence.

Abstract:Due to the intermittence and randomness of the renewable energy, hybrid energy storage system is widely adopted to suppress the power fluctuation. Power distribution is crucial for the robust and efficient operation of hybrid energy system. This paper proposes an innovative framework for hybrid energy storage system power distribution combining main circuit topology, modulation method and power distribution strategy. Firstly, hybrid modulation strategy to realize power distribution in a single-phase inverter is introduced. Then, power load prediction and low frequency filter are utilized to generate references for power distribution. Finally, the simulation model is established to test the framework and the result demonstrates the superiority of the proposed framework. The mean absolute percent error of the proposed SSA-LSTM mdoel is 0.0955 and the prediciton error by 40% compared with conventional LSTM model. Additionally, the energy management framework can adjust the port power distribution ratio flexibily to significantly suppress the power fluctuation of the grid and the operation cost of the hybrid energy storage system by reducing the charge and discharge cycle of the battery.

Abstract:Objectives . Due to the continuous rapid development of renewable energy sources, requirements for secondary power supply systems keep increasing from year to year. Productive uptime for end users is dependent on the efficiency and stability of the power supply system. Such systems should be able to distribute and store energy from renewable sources having various parameters and configurations. Therefore, the present work is aimed at developing technical solutions for efficient uninterruptible secondary power supply systems in low voltage DC networks. Methods . Advanced circuitry solutions are used for performing pulse conversions with high efficiency. The flexible hardware-software system is used for implementing the parameter control system. Results . An uninterruptible power supply for low-voltage DC networks is developed. The description of subsystems and calculations for all main elements including the power ones are given. Using a contemporary component base, the system prototype is assembled, configured, and measured by parameters. The presented solutions allow achieving the universality of the system in terms of the input and output voltage range. Support for the fast-charging Power Delivery protocol is integrated. As well as regulating the battery charging current and voltage, the Li+ battery charging controller permits changes in the number of chargeable cells. The monitoring and control unit monitors network parameters and controls the system automation. Using a microcontroller as the control device, it is possible to easily change control parameters by changing software settings. Dual redundancy of the module monitoring the built-in battery parameters is used to ensure the reliability and safety of system functioning. Support for the standardized I2C communication protocol with a separate power bus allows any necessary sensors to be connected for monitoring system parameters. External high-power devices controlled by a PWM signal may be added, if required. In the paper, the Li+ battery charging profile recommended by the manufacturer is provided. Conclusions . The designed system provides stable power supply to end users at a power consumption up to 40 W for at least 45 min. The automation demonstrates reliable operation.

Abstract:To further increase the reliability, safety of the power supply, concept of the super UPS occurs. Super UPS is composed of multiple sources such as Grid, Gas turbine, Li-ion battery and renewable energy. The Li-ion battery power conversion system need to support the DC bus quickly when emergency happens and cooperated with other two module to stabilize the load supply. In this paper, the demand of the Li-ion battery module is analyzed. Then in order to get a high charging and discharging accuracy, sampling error is analyzed the design of the Li-ion power conversion system is proposed based on the character test of the battery. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified in the 10 k W prototype.

Abstract:A high-surety microgrid—the super uninterruptable power supply—is introduced systematically in this article. Renewable energy, such as fuel cells, photovoltaic, and natural gas, are introduced in the super uninterruptable power supply to improve its reliability. First, the best architecture for the super uninterruptable power supply is selected according to the architecture performance evaluation. Second, the reliability and cost models are built to compare the super uninterruptable power supply with the traditional uninterruptable power supply. Highly reliable power distribution and power management algorithms are introduced based on the characteristics of multiple sources. Then the system stability is analyzed based on the impedance model of the super uninterruptable power supply. A highly reliable power conversion system is introduced, including redundant design and short-circuit protection. Finally, the experimental platform and experimental results are provided to verify the concept of a super uninterruptable power supply.

Abstract:The architecture of the UPS based on PEM Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is investigated. Firstly, the output characteristics of PEMFC are studied. High efficiency power conversion from hydrogen energy to electric power is emphasized. The characteristics match between PEMFC and load is another key issue. Energy & power management for FC-UPS is explored to satisfy both the load dynamics and PEMFC optimal operation condition. Furthermore, a seamless transition strategy among UPS operating modes is investigated. In addition, in order to enhance system reliability, a novel design method eliminating electrolytic capacitors is explored. Finally Super UPS concept is proposed and explained, which is targeted for extremely reliable applications.

Abstract:The dramatic loss caused by the power blackout in some industrial applications proposes the requirement for an extremely high reliability uninterruptible power supply (UPS). This paper introduces the concept of super uninterruptible power supply (Super UPS). Multiple energy sources are used to obtain a high reliability, long backup time, high surety UPS system. Classifications for energy sources, power conversion stage and power distribution bus line are established to simplify the power conversion architectures. A generic method to classify the architectures for multiple energy source system is presented. Then a system reliability evaluation method based on different architectures is used to analyze the characteristics of different types of topology. Redundant power conversion stage design to enhance the system reliability is discussed. Finally, a high reliability super UPS architecture is proposed.

Abstract:A DC distribution network (DDN) with multi-level bus voltages is proposed to satisfy various DC load requirements. In the proposed DDN, a special multi-port DC transformer (MDCT) with the symmetrical CLLC resonant structure is employed for load-side voltage matching and galvanic isolation of different bus voltages. The MDCT is actually a three port integration power converter which can construct three different bus voltages via only one power converter, and hence effectively reducing the multiple reverse conversions and improving the distribution efficiency. In addition, the power dispatch scheme of the energy management system (EMS) of the proposed DDN is also designed for transmitting the power within the battery, Photovoltaic (PV) energy and DDN bidirectionally. Finally, a SiC-based experimental prototype of the proposed DDN is established. Both the proposed DDN and EMS have been verified via experimental results.

Abstract:Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is widely used in industry and electronics field in order to improve power quality. However, the distortion and interruption of output voltage will occur when UPS is applied to instantaneous impulsive load. This paper proposes a novel dynamic control strategy to resist impulsive load. When the impulsive load is imposed on UPS instantaneously, the impulsive current can be quickly sensed by the digital controller and the supplying power for the load is switched from inverter to bypass immediately. Therefore, the output voltage of UPS can be maintained uninterruptible. The proposed control strategy is verified by a 30 KVA UPS prototype.

Abstract:This paper proposes an improved control strategy to eliminate dc circulating current in the paralleled uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems. The active and reactive power control has good performance on restricting ac circulating current. However, it is unable to suppress dc circulating current effectively. Based on conventional active and reactive power control for load sharing in paralleled UPS systems, a dc circulating current suppression loop is introduced to each paralleled inverter module, which is used to eliminate the dc component of output voltage in each paralleled inverter module. The dc circulating current control is decoupled since each inverter module only regulates its own dc component. The proper design of multiloop controller parameters for the dc suppression loop ensures excellent steady-state and dynamic performances. The proposed dc circulating current suppression method is verified by experimental results of a paralleled three-phase UPS inverter system.

Abstract:Abstract According to the principle of UPS, an AC sine wave online uninterruptible power supply based on STM32 is designed. The system adopts mains power, outputs corresponding DC power through isolation transformer, autotransformer and rectifier module, and then connects to single-phase full-bridge inverter circuit after boosting through booster module to supply stable AC voltage to the load, which significantly improves the load regulation rate, The voltage sampling module collects the output voltage of the boost circuit in real time and feeds it back to the single-chip microcomputer, and uses PID algorithm to realize the voltage closed-loop control, which improves the reliability of the uninterruptible power supply system. The system has functions such as overcurrent protection, instant power switching, and battery undervoltage alarm.

Abstract:With the ever-increasing exhaustion of fossil energy,renewable energy like wind power,photovoltaic as well as energy storage system and electric vehicles is gradually gaining people”s attention.However,losses during the conversion are inevitable when new energy sources are connected to the network.By adopting the direct current(DC)distribution technology, the cost of conversion can be appreciably reduced.In addition,DC distribution network safe,economical,and highly efficient operation can be realized by designing the converter commands rationally and effectively.The characteristics and advantages of the distribution network are described first,followed by a brief account of its energy structure.Then the latest progress in two aspects,namely,the energy optimizing management technology and the coordinated control strategy among converters based on energy management optimization commands is summarized.In the end,some directions that have yet to be further improved and perfected are discussed.

Abstract:A new type of dc distribution network containing electric vehicle(EV) charge station is proposed.Based on physical features of three distributed generation units,namely photovoltaic(PV) cell,solid fuel cell and wind power generator,the grid-connected models of them are built,and simple and reliable grid-connection mode is designed,thus the cost for grid-connection of distributed generation(DG) is evidently reduced.The EV charge station,which is taken as a balanced node in DC distribution network,is connected to power grid,and the energy interchange is implemented by converter devices and storage battery in charge station,and the cost for the investment and construction of energy storage devices can be saved.A three-layer control method for such a new type of DC distribution network is put forward.The feasibility of the proposed system is verified by results of PSCAD/EMTDC-based simulation,and it is also shown that the proposed control method can ensure reliable power supply for the charge system and uttermost utilization of DG,and it is convenient for energy interaction and implementation of optimal economic dispatching.

Abstract:UPS commonly was used in the control systems of power plants and substations.It functions to avoid power lose for these systems,which would results in control systems' malfunction and the missing of importance events in chronological records.This paper presents an alternative solution to UPS,that is to use the DC 220V station service system to supply power directly to the control system,can achieve Uninterruptible Power Supply the same effect in this way.Moreover,the solution has advantages of lower investment,simplified system structure,less maintenance,and improve higher reliability.

Abstract:In this paper, a general powerful circuit of a universal custom power conditioner (UCPC), which is used to improve power reliability and quality applied to distribution networks, is presented in detail. The UCPC is based on series and shunt tri-level PWM converters with a battery energy storage system (BESS) for multi-function operations such as harmonic elimination, reactive power control, voltage sags compensation and uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The basic algorithm of system is deadbeat control with a repetitive compensation strategy based on the voltage space vector PWM method. Some simulation results are use to verify that UCPC can synthetically fulfill different compensation functions

Abstract:With its significant advantages, flexible DC power distribution system has been widely recognized. Flexible DC distribution network has complex components such as distributed power generation, BESS and power load, so the active power exchanged between DC distribution network and AC grid may have large random fluctuations, which affects the stable operation of AC grid. At present, there are no standard about the rate of power fluctuations when flexible DC distribution network is connected to AC grid. A standard was made that the maximum power change within 10-min should be less than 1/3 of the capacity of converter station. Based on a two-terminal structure, this paper presented a control strategy of BESS coordinated with converter stations to smooth power fluctuations. Firstly, the power of DC distribution network is distributed between two converters according to their capacity proportion, power fluctuations get suppressed preliminarily, through charging and discharging operation of BESS, power fluctuations can be smoothed further. To ensure the charging and discharging capacity of BESS, its SOC was controlled at about 50%. Finally, simulation was carried out in EMTDC/PSCAD, and the results showed the efficiency of the proposed strategy.

Abstract:Deploying emergency vehicles has become a key guarantee for power supply in post-disaster distribution networks on account of their flexibility, maneuverability, safety, and reliability. However, due to limitations in configuration, the continuous power supply capacity of existing electrical vehicles (EVs) is insufficient, making it difficult to meet the needs of energy transfer and flow regulation in post-disaster distribution networks. Therefore, in this study, we comprehensively considered the energy time-shift characteristics of EVs and the flexible control function of soft open points (SOPs), integrated their advantages, and designed an emergency vehicle with SOP (EV-SOP) and its management strategy for distribution network line faults. Firstly, we present the EV-SOP architecture and its mathematical model. Then, aiming to minimize the economic losses caused by power loss during line faults, an EV-SOP emergency management strategy based on data collection, scheduling judgment, and optimal modeling techniques is proposed. Finally, by taking the case study of an IEEE33-node distribution network with contact switches as an example, we validate the effectiveness and superiority of the EV-SOP and its emergency management strategy compared with traditional energy storage emergency vehicles.
