Abstract:This paper considers a marketplace coexisting a brand mobile application supplier and an ordinary one providing customers with substitutable software service. The two suppliers can either promote the software individually (SP strategy) or resort to the downstream distributor (MP strategy) to achieve higher market demand. Taking the downstream distributor's revenue sharing behavior and the demand expansion effect of MP strategy into consideration, we build a two-stage Stackelberg game model to explore the suppliers' equilibrium promotion and pricing decisions. Through analysis, we obtain the following significant conclusions and managerial implications. Firstly, both suppliers would price highest in MM model. Secondly, the brand supplier prices higher in MS model than that in SM model while the ordinary supplier prices higher in MS model than that in SM model only when the brand difference between two suppliers is sufficiently high. Thirdly, when the demand expansion effect of MP strategy and the brand difference between two suppliers are both relatively low, SS may become the equilibrium no matter how high the revenue retaining ratio is, which inspires the suppliers in application supply chain to think outside the box. That is, it is not always beneficial to choose MP strategy when the revenue retaining ratio is sufficiently high. Noticeably, the above conclusions remain robust in extended models. Finally, while SM would never be the unique equilibrium in simultaneous game, it can be the equilibrium in sequential game.

Abstract:The classical Stackelberg game is extended to boundedly rational price Stackelberg game, and the dynamic duopoly game model is described in detail. By using the theory of bifurcation of dynamical systems, the existence and stability of the equilibrium points of this model are studied. And some comparisons with Bertrand game with bounded rationality are also performed. Stable region, bifurcation diagram, The Largest Lyapunov exponent, strange attractor, and sensitive dependence on initial conditions are used to show complex dynamic behavior. The results of theoretical and numerical analysis show that the stability of the price Stackelberg duopoly game with boundedly rational players is only relevant to the speed of price adjustment of the leader and not relevant to the follower’s. This is different from the classical Cournot and Bertrand duopoly game with bounded rationality. And the speed of price adjustment of the boundedly rational leader has a destabilizing effect on this model.

Abstract:The paper analyzes the maximum payoff of the alliance among the local government,the central government,the native land agents and the international speculators,and discusses the individual alliance,the two-person alliance,the three-person alliance and the four-person alliance respectively by the cooperative game model and simulated calculations.We find that: At least,the payoff for everyone from the three-person alliance is more than one from the four-person alliance which is more than one from the two-person,the two-person than thea individual,whether for or against regulation.The central government's payoff and international speculators' payoffs are less than those of the local governments and the native land agents in an alliance against regulation.Therefore,the local governments and the native land agents would be more active to maintain the alliance against regulation than the central government and the international speculators.To continuously enforce the regulation of the domestic real estate market,the central government should improve the individual capabilities of investigation and inspection,spread alliance for regulation to smash the alliance against regulation.

Abstract:The strategic delegation model under oligopoly competition, as a very important researching framework, gets wide application in recent years. This model studies market equilibrium under conditions of strategic delegation. However, it neglects one basic question, that is, whether and under what conditions can strategic delegation itself emerges as part of the equilibrium outcome. We initiate the notion of strategic delegation equilibrium, investigate all the possible equilibria in a duopoly model when the owners of the firms can choose strategic delegation, and present the conditions for strategic delegation equilibrium. Our study enriches and extends the strategic delegation model under oligopoly competition.
On Finding the Leader's Strategy in Quadratic Aggregative Stackelberg Pricing Games

Abstract:This paper analyzes a class of Stackelberg games where different actors compete for shared resources and a central authority tries to balance the demand through a pricing mechanism. Situations like this can for instance occur when fleet owners of electric taxi services compete about charging spots. In this paper, we model the competition between the followers as an aggregative game, i.e., each player's decision only depends on the aggregate strategy of the others. While it has previously been shown that there exist dynamic pricing strategies to achieve the central authority's objective, we in this paper present a method to compute optimal static prices. Proof of convergence of the method is presented, together with a numerical study showcasing the benefits and the speed of convergence of the proposed method.

Abstract:This work focuses on a Stackelberg duopoly game characterized by firms with differentiated products and bounded rationality. Both firms adopt myopic mechanism to update their production decisions in each discrete period. For the purpose of stressing hierarchy between both firms, the leader firm is supposed to estimate marginal profit by only thinking over his own interfering factors. Since global stability analysis of Nash equilibrium point becomes desirable in complex behaviors research, we cover it as well besides local stability. Numerical simulations are carried out to verify some essential appearances of previous theoretical analyses. Such aspects include maximum Lyapunov exponent, strange attractor, basin of attraction and sensitivity on initial conditions. In addition, we calculate fractal dimension of the non-integral dimension shapes in chaotic state. As to the chaos emerged under certain conditions, effective control method has been utilized to force them back towards stability.

Abstract:Strategic alliance has suffered much instabilities since its first implementation. Scholars have carried out many embedded, precise and comprehensive researches from both theory and empiricism. Here we try to find certain stable solutions by employing game theory, in an attempt to construct theoretical bases for strategic alliance, which people called “one of the most important organizational innovation in the end of the 20th century” (Shi, 2001), to exploit its advantages in the process of globalization. Finally, this article puts forward some advices for its success.

Abstract:With the intensification of market competition, the cost of advertising enterprises is increasing, so eventually, advertising may unable to increase the profits of enterprises and bring huge consumptions to enterprises. In this case, cooperative advertising came into being. With the Stackelberg game method, the selection and optimization of cooperative advertising strategies in supply chain were studied. Through the comparative analysis, the related concepts of supply chain competition, the level of cooperative advertising and Stackelberg game were determined; from the structures as two chains that are the non-integrated decision-making and the integrated decision-making, and two chains that are the integrated decision-making and the non-integrated decision-making, the existing problems were modeled and analyzed with the method of Stackelberg game theory; through numerical analysis, the optimal cooperative advertising strategy under the level of horizontal cooperation advertisement for each enterprise in the supply chain was obtained. Theoretical and empirical analysis can provide theoretical supports and model references for the research on strategy selection and optimization of cooperative advertising in other supply chains.

Abstract:This study aims to apply the bi-level game theory model to explore how a hotel collaborates with third-party websites to determine the optimal room rate and the number of overbooking to maximize the hotel's total profit. The results show that the proposed bi-level game model not only can provide optimal room rate and the number of overbooking to the hotel but also the marketing efforts to third-party websites. The optimal room rate is significantly affected by the arrival rate and the hotel's marketing efforts; however, the compensation rate does not influence room rate and the number of overbooking.

Abstract:Taking the produce decision-making models in two enterprises as an example,this article discusses quantitatively two kinds of problems with the help from game theory,the possibility of enterprises forming strategic alliance under infinite repeated games with complete information and that for a certain period under finite repeated games with incomplete information.It concludes that the formation of the strategic alliance is possible on some conditions.The cooperation period is also studied empirically through enterprise manager decision-making test.

Abstract:This paper conducts a comprehensive investigation of Stackelberg mixed oligopoly with advertising competition. We focus our attention on misleading advertising, and at the same time derive some results that are closely related to profit‐raising entry. Different from Matsumura and Sunada (Economics Letters, Vol. 119 (2013), pp. 183–185), we find that it is the leadership of the public firm in the advertising stage that may lead to the negative advertising level of the public firm and make the profit of each private firm decrease in the number of the private firms. In addition, we also find that the public leadership in the advertising stage may lead to the negative aggregate advertising level.

Abstract:This article is aiming at solving an allocation-decision problem of lot-sizing outsourcing orders between core enterprises and multiple cooperative suppliers in service-oriented manufacturing. A one-to-many cooperative stackelberg-game model which is a double-layer framework is proposed in order to obtain an optimal price and delivery time. The upper level dynamic stackelberg sub-game is designed for decision optimization problems of lot-sizing outsourcing orders between an upper level core enterprise and a lower level suppliers’ alliance. The lower level static sub-game is designed for obtaining maximum benefit of the suppliers’ alliance from lot-sizing outsourcing orders. In the game model, the leader is the core enterprise, and the follower is the suppliers’ alliance. Moreover, cost and profit are, respectively, mapping to their revenue functions. A two-level nested solution algorithm using genetic algorithm is proposed to solve the game model. Then, an equilibrium solution of this one-to-many stackelberg-game model is acquired. The analytic hierarchy process method based on contribution degree of each supplier is used for allocating profit reasonably. Finally, an example of lot-sizing outsourcing orders of gear parts validates the feasibility of the game model and its resolving algorithm. The results prove rationality of the proposed game model and correctness of the algorithm.

Abstract:This paper studies the heterogeneous cooperation in a shipping company-freight forwarder service supply chain using game analysis.Recent shipping market reviews show the dominance of the shipping company over the freight forwarder,so we intend to explore the role of vertical cooperation with respect to transaction between a shipping company and a freight forwarder through advertising expenditures and brand investments.We analyze the pricing mechanism of shipping market and prove that the shipping company will provide a portion of the freight forwarder's advertising allowance if transportation price is high enough.The opportunistic behavior of the freight forwarder will prevail in Stackelberg equilibrium.The system profit is maximized for Pareto efficient in the cooperative game equilibrium.On the basis of the above study,the model has been extended to the research under dynamic environment.Both the shipping company and freight forwarder have the interior motivation to make additional investment in this case,and they will establish the stable and long-term cooperation.
Dynamic Game Analysis on Cooperative Advertising Strategy in a Manufacturer-Led Supply Chain with Risk Aversion

Abstract:This paper considers a dynamic Stackelberg game model for a manufacturer-led supply chain with risk aversion. Cooperative advertising strategy is applied to the marketing decisions of supply chain participants. Based on Stackelberg game and system dynamic theory, the game and complex dynamical behaviors are studied through the use of several methods, such as the stability region of the system, bifurcation diagram, attractor diagram, and the largest Lyapunov exponent diagram. The expected utilities of participants are given and compared by numerical simulation. The results illustrate that a series of variations in adjustment speed of advertising expenditure, participation rate of local advertising expenditure by manufacturer, risk tolerance levels, and the effect coefficient of advertising expenditure may cause a loss of stability to the system and evolve into chaos. Meanwhile, the Nash equilibrium point and the expected utility of the manufacturer and retailer will change greatly. The parameter control method is further applied to control the chaos phenomenon of the system effectively. By means of analyzing the impact of relevant factors on the game model, the manufacturer and retailer can make optimal strategy decisions in the supply chain competition. The findings of this study mainly include the following three aspects. Firstly, for market stability and maximizing revenue, the manufacturer adjusts the participation rate appropriately, avoiding too high or too low values. Secondly, the manufacturer will try to reduce their own risk tolerance level for the economic revenue, and the retailer appropriately adjust the risk tolerance level to adapt to their own development according to their own enterprise strategy. Finally, both the manufacturer and retailer reduce their own effect coefficients of advertising expenditure. Meanwhile, they will attempt to increase their opponent's effect coefficient to gain the most revenue. The research results of this study can provide important reference for the advertising expenditure decision and revenue maximization of participants in the context of risk aversion.

Abstract:With the proliferation of digital platforms, the parking landscape has undergone a transformation, offering more than the traditional first-come-first-served parking option. The reservation-based parking mode has gained considerable popularity. Obviously, there is a competitive relationship between these two parking modes, posing a challenge for parking management authorities to achieve a balance. This study investigates pricing strategies in a duopoly parking market, comprising two distinct types of parking companies: search-based and reservation-based. We analyze three power structure models: (i) the Bertrand model, (ii) the Stackelberg model with the reservation-based parking company as a leader, and (iii) the Stackelberg model with the search-based parking company as a leader. Additionally, we develop a three-player game model that considers the involvement of the third-party investor in the reservation mode. Our findings indicate that the overall profit of the search-based parking company declines when the driver preference of reservation-based parking company increases. Moreover, reservation-based parking companies exhibit greater robustness compared to their search-based counterparts when facing penalty delays and fluctuations in waiting costs. Furthermore, a prudent evaluation is advised for the third-party investor when assessing investment opportunities, especially in scenarios where drivers demonstrate a pronounced preference for search-based parking companies.

A Dynamic Stackelberg Duopoly Model with Different Strategies

Abstract:In this paper, a duopoly Stackelberg model of competition on output is formulated. The firms announce plan products sequentially in planning phase and act simultaneously in production phase. For the duopoly Stackelberg model, a nonlinear dynamical system which describes the time evolution with different strategies is analyzed. We present results on existence, stability and local bifurcations of the equilibrium points. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the system with varying model parameters may drive to chaos and the loss of stability may be caused by period doubling bifurcations. It is also shown that the state variables feedback and parameter variation method can be used to keep the system from instability and chaos. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:In China,the contractor consists of design unit and construction unit,the construction joint ventures(JVs) cause the bargaining behavior when the designs are optimized.Based on analysis of the process of design change,this paper studies on the Stackelberg game model between construct units and design units,which shows that the ability to design units and construct units,communication and trust,the degree of benefit-sharing and risk-sharing,the interference of the director in JVs directly influence the behavior of the units.In the end,the paper analyses the interacting mechanism in HZMB Island tunnel construction,which provides a reference for the implementation of DB mode in mega construction.
