Abstract:By focusing on the Chinese official discourse of "neoindustrialisation" published on the People's Daily, this article not only provides an understanding of the Chinese official understanding of information society and information economy, but also foregrounds the issue of information in China's conflicted reintegration with global capitalism. This article argues that, deviant from the Western discourse of post-industrialism, the neo-industrialisation strategy promotes a coordinated effort to both "industrialise" and "informationise" the economy. Moreover, pragmatic concerns with China's realities, including unfinished industrialisation, structural unemployment and the domestic demands for all-around national development, all find echoes in the discourse of neo-industrialisation. By providing a political-economic contextualisation of this discourse, this article also strives to provide an insight of the most recent plan of forming a "super" Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in the Chinese government, which was announced in March 2008.

The paper analyzes the total amount situation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of China as the second world economy entity. As a developing fast growing country, China has its own characteristics and also has big gap to the first world economy entity, the USA. With the rapid development of internet, the paper compares the traditional business model to future business model development. As a part of national strategies of China, internet is becoming one of the most important tools for both business increasing and marketing developing with its users fast growing. The relativity between internet and China economy is analyzed through related model. With internet plus time coming, China economy development will be related to internet tightly in current time and future.

Abstract:If the United States represents a full integration of monopoly-finance capital and the Internet, China, as a latecomer country, is poised to adopt a similar goal of making broadband more central to the Chinese style capitalism in the aftermath of the 2008 global economic crisis. A review of recent trade journals can provide a sense of the new trends we are already seeing: Telecom operators have competed to expand their wired and wireless broadband networks, recently under the state’s new national broadband strategy. Broadband is expected to become the platform for trade in software and IT services, such as logistics, E-commerce, and consulting. Meanwhile, cloud computing and the Internet of things, the two “most promising” ICT applications, are equally seen as the new, trillion-dollar information service industries, capable of transforming the wider economy and social life.

Abstract:From the perspective of internet information production (IIP) and internet information consumption (IIC), we interpreted the spatial patterns of the internet industry in China based on top commercial websites. The findings demonstrated more obvious industrial clustering compared with that in Western countries, highlighting the rise of internet cities in China. The differences amongst diverse website themes generate disparities between IIP and IIC, suggesting future developmental trends of these internet cities. The specialised division of internet cities remains somewhat consistent with the local context. The government plays a key role in the early stage of China's internet industry, enabling cities involved in internet industry at the initial stage gains first-mover advantages, leading to the uneven patterns of spatial patterns since then. Though the role of government in the development of internet industry should still be emphasised, the success of internet cities finally depends on whether their specialisation meets the market demand.

There are two requirements to achieve the goal. One is enlarging the demanded of consumption. Another is developing the consumption economy. The focus of enlarging consumption demands is,on the one hand,raising consumption power so as to promote instantaneous consumption. On the other hand,developing consumption economy evolves the supply side of market,which has in turn impacts on economic growth. Abstract:Abstract In the context of the prosperity of the Internet economy and the progress of the cultural industry, the Internet cultural industry is expanding in a big way based on the economic development of the cultural industry, supported by the Internet technology platform and serving the cultural and spiritual experience of consumers. The Internet cultural industry is gradually becoming the backbone of the country’s comprehensive strength for the amount. The Internet to boost the development of China’s cultural industry and cultural export to the outside has become a general trend. In 2018 China’s Internet cultural industry added value accounted for the first time exceeded 3 trillion of GDP, and the added value of the Internet cultural industry in 2021 further increased to 6.63% of GDP. Thus, it can be seen that the share of Wen Internet culture industry in China’s GDP is a steady upward trend and the future development is clear. This paper uses the vector autoregressive model to model and analyze the cultural consumption data of Internet users, and the analysis results show that in 2021, China’s Internet cultural consumption mainly tends to music and video, games, literature, animation, and online cultural content information services in five areas, among which games account for 36.52% of the total Internet cultural consumption. Due to the improvement of China’s comprehensive strength, the difference in CPI of Internet culture consumption between urban and rural groups in China is 11, and the gap is gradually narrowing, and the countryside will be a big new market in the future. The Internet group culture user group as a whole tends to be younger, with the student group accounting for 26% of the user group. Based on the analysis of this study, it is concluded that Internet cultural consumption tends to be young, cultural innovation is the main driving force to promote consumption, and future development is unstoppable.

Abstract:This century is marked by a burgeoning information society around the globe; accordingly, the adoption and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in general and the Internet in particular have been one of the most fruitful domains in the broader field of communication sciences. The observed persistent academic interest can, to a large extent, be attributed to the polymorphic nature of ICTs of various modalities, functioning as ICTs technology clusters and/or meta operating systems that accommodate numerous technologies, functions and applications. Beyond that, ICTs or Internet adoption is reflective of a social process of development, during which the informational mode of development is interwoven with other social systems and varies across diverse social settings. Most existing empirical research and theoretical approaches have overwhelmingly focused on the Internet adoption in developed economies, but in-depth investigations on the developing economies such as China are scarce, if any. Compared to most developed countries, China’s informatization-urbanization model marks a unique path of modernization, which further provides a huge opportunity to build momentum for the rapid and large-scale Internet adoption in urban China. In order to present a whole-range holistic portrait of China’s Internet development, the intrinsic logics and social outcomes of China’s informatization-urbanization model necessitate in-depth investigations.

Abstract:China became the second largest Internet market and the biggest mobile phone market in the world in 2002. It is estimated that with China’s entry to the WTO, its commitments to liberalization in the telecommunication and financial services sectors will spur e‐commerce development in this country. The growing popularity of the telephone, the increased number of internet users, and the extensive competition in the telecommunications industry are all prerequisites for E‐commerce development, but they do not indicate the existence of expansion of the same pace in e‐commerce. There are multiple factors that contribute to the slow development of e‐commerce in China. The focus of e‐commerce in China will be different than it is in Europe and America because of the difference in traditional business models, conventional consumer behaviors, and consumer expectations. This paper analyzes the factors that have significant impact on the E‐commerce development. The paper is aimed to help businesses that want to expand e‐business in China to understand China’s e‐commerce development, its uniqueness, and its obstacles.

Abstract:The Internet is increasingly indispensable to national economies worldwide. Here, we focus on the Internet diffusion process in Chinese businesses and its link to the general growth of IT spending throughout the Chinese economy. Our results are based on our 10-year investigation of IT adoption in Chinese companies and industry-specific patterns of Internet diffusion and related IT spending growth. IT applications in China were introduced relatively late in Internet evolution compared to those in the developed countries, forcing business managers to contend with a lack of experience, know-how, and infrastructure. This late start has also meant that Chinese companies are able to choose from relatively more advanced technologies, learn from the experience of others, and be less bothered by the problems associated with legacy systems. In addition, because China generally uses IT differently from other countries, it is worth investigating the process through which Chinese companies adopt new technology, as well as any patterns that have emerged within it, so as to better understand how IT affects the overall Chinese economy.

Abstract:Based on China's reality and the global trend of information, the 16th CPC National Congress clearly put forward the new-type industrialization concept. China's information is to be carried out under the condition of the immature industrialization. To accomplish information, we have to attach much importance to these initial conditions such as the relatively backward and multilayer productivity, which not only embodies in agriculture but also in industry and information industry; the irrational industry structure in which tertiary industry still plays a small role and agriculture and manufacturing industry are still dominate the niches; backward economic system and mechanism which are reflected as monopoly and high entry barriers in certain areas and in these areas competitive mechanism is never allowed to play a due role; inadequate culture evolution reflecting in that credit relationship is not established yet which is critical to the Internet-based information society; imperfect rules and policies including related credit regulations and laws, financial regulations and laws, privacy protection policy, intellectual property protection laws; the lower and unbalanced level of education which not only reflects in primary education but also in information education, and unbalance mainly reflecting in gap between city and rural areas, the east and the west of China. A survey of national information level also shows that there is not a single west province ranking among the first 10, but the last 4 are all the west provinces. To avoid unfavorable path dependence, therefore, the author suggests some aspects worthy to be considered for governments' reference in making decision. Firstly, government should heighten their awareness, have a long plan for the future and take full consideration of differences between China and western developed countries. Secondly, they should make full use of market mechanism in resource allocation, lay stress on the key points and give full play to comparative advantage. Thirdly, they should make best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages and appropriately deal with three relations, these relations are: the relation between development of hi-tech industry and traditional industry, the relation between capital-intensive industry and labor-intensive industry, the relation between the introduction of foreign advanced information technology and China's independent development. Thus, a smooth progress of information can be achieved.

Abstract:Information consumption is an important part of China's strategy of expanding domestic demand and stimulating consumption demand.Residents' information consumption in Jiangsu is taken as the research object and the information consumption data over the years are collated.By using comparative descriptive statistics and quantitative analysis, the current situation of residents' information consumption in Jiangsu as well as economic growth are systematically analyzed.The economic model deeply analyses the pulling effect of information consumption on economic growth, and finally draws the conclusion that there is a causal relationship between information consumption and economic growth, what's more, information consumption has a significant effect on pulling economic growth.Especially in the past ten years, the economic growth of Jiangsu is more dependent on residents' information consumption.

Abstract:China's low regional integration has drawn ever-increasing attention. However, the effects of the Internet as a representative of information and communication technology have largely been ignored. To fill this research gap, the current study seeks to clarify) the relationship between Internet diffusion and regional integration in China. An approach measuring regional integration is constructed using the retail price index data of various commodities from 2001 to 2009. The results of the panel data regression suggest that the Internet plays a positive, significant role in regional integration in controlling the economy level, governmental control, and international openness. These findings are robust, maintaining consistency across three measures of Internet variables and several alternative model specifications.

Abstract:Accelerating transformation and upgrading of traditional industries is an urgent need to achieve comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable economic and social development. However, the rapid development of the Internet industry has subverted the traditional consumption and business model, and brought huge competitive pressure to traditional enterprises. How to survive in the Internet age and how to carry out transformation and upgrading are the major problems faced by traditional enterprises at present. Under this background, as a pioneer of the Internet economy, Zhejiang Province has a responsibility to explore avenues in terms of the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. In addition, with the prevalent of big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, blockchain and other emerging digital technologies in current society, the deep integration of traditional industries and the Internet has gradually become a trend. Taking Zhejiang province as an example, this paper analyzes the current situation and problems of the Internet in promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and puts forward paths of transformation and policy suggestions.

Abstract:The rapid development of the information and communication technologies (ITCs) and the internet is deeply embedded in all aspects of economic life. With its high economic efficiency and significant green attributes, digitalization provides opportunities for promoting a green economy. However, the effects of digitalization and internet development on China's green economic efficiency are understudied. There is also a gap in research on how digitalization and internet development influence Chinese citizens to choose a green lifestyle from the consumer perspective. This article aims to enrich the research in this field by exploring the effects of internet development on green economic efficiency in China. The article further analyses how digitalization and internet development can encourage citizens to choose a green lifestyle. Drawing on panel data from 257 cities in China spanning the period from 2012 to 2020, this article utilizes the entropy method and the SBM‐GML model to assess the correlation between internet development and green economy efficiency. We also employ the basic regression model, system GMM model, mediation effect model and adjustment model to study the impact of internet development on urban green economic efficiency. The study found that internet development and green economic efficiency face constraints that are inherent in the government's dual economic growth and environmental goals and targets. We also found that digitalization and internet development can promote citizens' adoption of green lifestyles through the fostering of citizen environmental concern and green consumption habits. Further analysis shows that internet development has a more pronounced effect on green economic efficiency in eastern cities, large cities, non‐resource‐based cities and cities with higher economic development. These findings provide useful references for developing countries that promote urban green economic efficiency through digitalization and internet development.

Abstract:Due to the benefits brought by progress in digital technology, the digital economy is profoundly changing the production and lifestyles of human beings, thus promoting the dual digital transformation of the energy supply side and demand side and having a profound impact on energy consumption. Based on 2011–2018 panel data on 30 provinces and 205 cities in China, this study empirically investigates the direct and indirect impacts of digital economy development on the scale and structure of energy consumption. The empirical results indicate that digital economy development promotes an increase in the scale of energy consumption and optimizes the structure of energy consumption. This result is still valid after robustness tests involving the selection of historical data as an instrumental variable (IV) and the “Broadband China” policy as a quasi-natural experiment. Mechanism analysis shows that digital economy development mainly impacts energy consumption by affecting economic growth, energy efficiency and the industrial structure. Moreover, the results of heterogeneity analysis and spatial model estimation indicate that the effects of digital economy development on energy consumption have obvious regional heterogeneity and spatial spillovers.

Abstract:This study explores the dynamic interplay between foreign direct investment, e-commerce, and China's export growth from 2005 to 2022 against the backdrop of the rapidly evolving global economy. Utilizing advanced analytical models that combine province- and year-fixed effects with fully modified ordinary least squares and dynamic ordinary least-squares methodologies, we delve into how foreign direct investment and e-commerce collectively boost China's export capabilities. Our findings highlight a significant alignment between China's export expansion and the global sustainable development agenda. We observe that China's export growth transcends mere international investment and digital market engagement, incorporating sustainable practices such as effective utilization of local labor resources and an emphasis on technological advancements. This study also uncovers how knowledge capital and educational attainment positively impact export figures. A notable regional disparity is observed, with the eastern regions of China being more responsive to foreign direct investment and e-commerce influences on export trade compared to their western counterparts. This disparity underscores the need for region-specific policy approaches and sustainable strategies to evenly distribute the benefits of foreign direct investment and e-commerce. The study concludes that while foreign direct investment and e-commerce are crucial for China's export growth, the underlying theme is sustainable development, with technological innovation and human capital being key to ongoing export success. The findings advocate for policies that balance economic drivers with sustainable development goals, ensuring both economic prosperity and environmental sustainability.
