Progress and Proposal in Research of Pear Breeding in China

Abstract:It was reviewed that the achievements in aspect of Pyrus resources and breeding had been obtained since the Foundation of the People’s Rublic of China,including germplasm resources collection,preservation,evaluation,origin,evolution and utilization,cultivar introduction,selection of bud mutation,seedling selection,hybridization selection,mutation breeding,space breeding,rootstock breeding,research of genetic regularity,in vitro culture,genetic engineering,molecular marker,construction of genetic linkage map etc.It was suggested that the core germplasm collection and evaluation should be strengthened,the new cultivar with intellectual property right,high quality,resistance to disease and insect,high stress resistance,self-fruiting,labor saving and bright appearance should be developed.Moreover,attention also should be paid on integrating pear breeding materials,emphasizing cooperation,and innovating breeding techniques to improve breeding efficiency.
