Abstract:With the widely usage of online social networks, people come to realize the necessity of making the social network more semantic. However, the lack of definition of connections hinders the fully applications of online social networks and transform them towards more semantic way. So in this paper, we try to overcome this problem by modeling the social tie connection in online social networks with an object-oriented approach based on extended RDF vocabulary. In our method, the connections are modeled as object entity, with attributes describing their content, and operations defining the legal manipulation upon them. The connections have inheritance relationships between them and thus form an inheritance tree. We presented our consideration in designing the object-oriented model of connection; and developed a prototype to show its advantages over the traditional approach.

Abstract:Conventional data persistence technology is to store the object to relational database through object-relation mapping,but its easy-use performance and efficiency always remain problems.In this paper,we introduce a more convenient alternative with higher performance:i.e.,to store mass data to object-oriented database.However the use of object-oriented database may be not well known by quite a few programmers since it has not been commonly used at moment yet.Thus we propose an extended Java collection framework based on object-oriented database,through which the programmers can operate the object-oriented database as using common Java collection API.The performance of persistence is also enhanced compared with using common relational database.

Abstract:This paper describes a preliminary attempt at using Semantic Web paradigm, especially the Web Ontology Language (OWL), for functional design knowledge representation during functional modeling in a multi-agent distributed design environment. An ontology-based functional modeling framework is proposed as a prelude to a meaningful agent communication for collaborative functional modeling. Formal knowledge representation in OWL format extends traditional functional modeling with capabilities of knowledge sharing and distributed problem solving, and is used as a content language within the FIPA ACL (Agent Communication Language) messages in a proposed multi-agent architecture. The ontological enhancement to functional modeling facilitates the implementation of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) in functional design for Semantic Web applications.

Abstract:This paper describes a UML-based notation for OWL DL.It proposes a UML profile for OWL DL,which can be used to model the elements and relationships,such as class and relation.The experiment shows,given the profile,it uses any UML tools to develop ontology,which reduces the complexity of large-scale ontology construction and maintenance.

Abstract:In Digital Library, information is often stored in unstructured and semi-structured textual form. Domain modeling techniques are used for specific domain knowledge services in order to make use of the massive amounts of textual information. Ontology is an efficient way to build specific domain model for abstraction of concepts and relations. In this , we propose an ontology-based domain modeling framework, CADAL-ODM, to structure domain model. CADAL-ODM is designed to provide multi-level and multi-granularity knowledge services in order to meet the various requirements of users in digital library instead of basic reading service. We explain our work by which knowledge is extracted automatically from the unstructured and semi-structured documents. Specific domain model is structured by specific domain ontology description and extracted knowledge. We evaluate the framework with real data sets, specifically, the medical records of TCM documents set from CADAL.

Abstract:As software are becoming more and more complex and platforms are increasing of diversity, software industry has faced some unprecedented challenges, such as interoperability. It is difficult to use objected-oriented methodology and traditional software paradigms to meet the challenges. Model Driven Architecture (MDA) has been proposed to solve the problems. In this paper, the principles, the advantages, the disadvantages, key techniques and some important issues of objected-oriented methodology and MDA are highlighted; the mechanism of combining objected-oriented methodology and MDA software paradigm is studied, especially the corresponding relations among models, domains, stages and languages are explored, and a modeling process for MDA is proposed. The research is helpful to apply MDA.

Abstract:After a revision with a period of four years,OMG voted and adopted the specifications of UML 2.0. On the observation of the revision,the extension mechanism is one of the most important parts revised.In order to clarify the necessity of introducing the extension mechanism into UML and the existing problems of the mechanism in UML 1.X, as well as to help people know the tendency of the work in UML 2.0,the background and rationales of the revision are analyzed and the development of two extension mechanisms in UML 2.0 is illustrated,i.e. one is first-class extension mechanism (extension based on meta-models); the other is light weight extension mechanism (extension based on Profiles).Then the comparison between the two mechanisms is presented.Finally,the applicable vision of the improved extension mechanism of UML 2.0 is predicted.

Abstract:Traditional methods of open equation modeling have great limitations in the maintenance and reuse of models, especially for large-scale modeling problems. Legacy models could not be inherited and reused easily. Open equation technique and object-oriented method are deeply investigated and integrated. A new modeling approach is presented based on that. The framework structure of the new modeling environment is proposed and designed. The new modeling approach is used for formulating simulation and optimization problems of chemical processes. The taxonomy, definition, and organization of chemical engineering class library are proposed and implemented. The validity, usability and efficiency are demonstrated in modeling an adiabatic flash process.

Abstract:There are numerous modeling and simulation environments based on DEVS formalism. Due to the incompatible modeling grammars, it has been a challenge to reuse models in different DEVS implementations. Existing XML-based model representations lack general expressions of the behavior of DEVS models and only support one type of DEVS formalism. In this paper, a modeling ontology named DEVSMO is proposed. DEVSMO uses structured programming theory to express the programming logic and uses MathML to express the mathematical models in the model behavior. Structured programming theory and MathML provide a set of standard terminologies, so the generality of model representation is improved. Furthermore, DEVSMO supports both classic and parallel DEVS formalisms and has good reusability for other formalisms. Three cases are developed to test DEVSMO in the usability of expressing model structure and model behavior and in the reusability for further extension.

Abstract:The modeling of enterprise organization is very important. However, existing methods of organization modeling have many deficiencies. The deficiencies are analyzed, and a new objected-oriented modeling method based on constructs is presented. This method has good flexibility, and provides a uniform express of the model's whole life-cycle. It introduces new modeling elements such as 'role' and 'workgroup', which enable it to support the dynamic execution of process models and describe the organization of virtual enterprise to a certain extent. To apply the proposed method, the software for organization modeling is demonstrated.

In this paper, we present an active distributed object-oriented (ADO) database model, which can capture not only passive behaviors but also active behaviors of complex objects. Besides, the distribution nature of objects can be reflected from within the model as well. Based on the model, we have developed a prototype active distributed object-oriented database management system, and applied it to a housing property management application.

Abstract:Based on the open-equation modeling method and theory of structure,this paper presents a methodology of structured open-equation organization.After absorbing the modularization ideology,the paper studies the advantages of structured architecture on maintaining and extending equation models.Then,with the object-orientation and Hash technology support,the paper design and implement the open-equation modeling toolbox,OMSMAT(Open-equation Modeling System in Matlab),in Matlab.At last,an example of distillation column using OMSMAT is presented.In this article,we focus on some key solutions about the design of equation-based system,construction of atom model,module building,inheritance,reusable capability and fast searching on variables and equations.
