Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinicopathological significance of vascular endothelial growth factor expression in human glioma.Methods SABC immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the VEGF expression in 67 cases of human glioma and 8 cases of normal brain tissue.Results VEGF expressed in glioma only,the positive rate being 83.6%,but no expression was observed in normal brain tissue.The expression of VEGF was significantly related with the degree of differentiation(P0.01)and recurrence(P0.01),but was not related with the sex and tumor size.Conclusion VEGF can be synthesized in tumor cells of glioma and it might relate with the recurrence and prognosis of glioma.
