Abstract:In this paper we obtain weak laws of large numbers (WLLNs) for arrays of random variables under the uniform Cesàro-type condition. As corollary, we obtain the result of Hong and Oh [Hong, D. H., Oh, K. S., 1995. On the weak law of large numbers for arrays. Statist. Probab. Lett. 22, 55–57]. Furthermore, we obtain a WLLN for an Lp-mixingale array without the conditions that the mixingale is uniformly integrable and the Lp-mixingale numbers decay to zero at a special rate.

Abstract:Abstract By using the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type inequality and Rosenthal type inequality, we study the Lr convergence, weak law of large numbers and the complete convergence for usual normed sums and weighted sums of arrays of rowwise widely orthant dependent (WOD, for short) random variables. In addition, some applications of the Lr convergence and the complete convergence to nonparametric regression models based on WOD errors are provided. At last, we provide a numerical simulation to verify the validity of our theoretical result.

Abstract:Limit theorems for non-additive probabilities or non-linear expectations are challenging issues which have attracted a lot of interest recently. The purpose of this paper is to study the strong law of large numbers and the law of the iterated logarithm for a sequence of random variables in a sub-linear expectation space under a concept of extended independence which is much weaker and easier to verify than the independence proposed by Peng [20]. We introduce a concept of extended negative dependence which is an extension of the kind of weak independence and the extended negative independence relative to classical probability that has appeared in the recent literature. Powerful tools such as moment inequality and Kolmogorov's exponential inequality are established for these kinds of extended negatively independent random variables, and these tools improve a lot upon those of Chen, Chen and Ng [1]. The strong law of large numbers and the law of iterated logarithm are also obtained by applying these inequalities.

Abstract:Some exponential probability inequalities for widely negative orthant dependent (WNOD, in short) random variables are established, which can be treated as very important roles to prove the strong law of large numbers among others in probability theory and mathematical statistics. By using the exponential probability inequalities, we study the complete convergence for arrays of rowwise WNOD random variables. As an application, the Marcinkiewicz–Zygmund type strong law of large numbers is obtained. In addition, the complete moment convergence for arrays of rowwise WNOD random variables is studied by using the exponential probability inequality and complete convergence that we established.

Abstract:In the paper, we establish some exponential inequalities for non-identically distributed negatively orthant dependent (NOD, for short) random variables. In addition, we also establish some exponential inequalities for the partial sum and the maximal partial sum of identically distributed NOD random variables. As an application, the Kolmogorov strong law of large numbers for identically distributed NOD random variables is obtained. Our results partially generalize or improve some known results.

Abstract:In this study, the strong law of large numbers and the convergence rate for weighted sums of non-identically distributed widely orthant dependent random variables are established. As applications, the strong consistency for weighted estimator in nonparametric regression model and the rate of strong consistency for least-squares estimator in multiple linear regression model are obtained. Some numerical simulations are also provided to verify the validity of the theoretical results.

Abstract:Strong laws of large numbers are established for random fields with weak or strong dependence. These limit theorems are applicable to random fields with heavy-tailed distributions including fractional stable random fields. The conditions for SLLN are described in terms of the p-th moments of the partial sums of the random fields, which are convenient to verify. The main technical tool in this paper is a maximal inequality for the moments of partial sums of random fields that extends the technique of Levental, Chobanyan and Salehi [6] for a sequence of random variables indexed by a one-parameter.

Abstract:In this paper, with the notion of independence for random variables under upper expectations, we derive a strong law of large numbers for non-additive probabilities. This result is a natural extension of the classical Kolmogorov’s strong law of large numbers to the case where the probability is no longer additive. As an application of our result, we give most frequent interpretation for Bernoulli-type experiments with ambiguity.

Abstract:In this work, the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type strong law of large numbers for weighted sums of widely orthant dependent random variables is established under mild conditions including infinite variance. As applications, some new results such as the Cesaro strong law of large numbers, the strong consistency of the least squares estimator in multiple linear regression models, and the strong consistency of the wavelet estimator in nonparametric regression models are presented. Simulation studies are also provided to support the theoretical results.

Abstract:For a sequence of nonnegative random variables {Xn,n≥1} with finite means and partial sums Sn=∑i=1nXi,n≥1, and a sequence of positive numbers {bn,n≥1} with bn↑∞, sufficient conditions are given under which (Sn−ESn)/bn→0 almost surely. Our result generalizes the strong law of large numbers obtained by Korchevsky (2015). Some applications for dependent random variables are also provided.

Abstract:In this work, we establish an exponential inequality for unbounded negatively orthant dependent (NOD) random variables. The inequality extends and improves the results of Kim and Kim (2007) [1], Nooghabi and Azarnoosh (2009) [2], and Xing et al. (2009) [3]. We also obtain the convergence rate O(n−1/2ln1/2n) for the strong law of large numbers, which improves on the corresponding ones of Kim and Kim (2007) [1], Nooghabi and Azarnoosh (2009) [2], and Xing et al. (2009) [3].
