Abstract:Homogeneous SnO2 hollow spheres have been synthesized through a hydrothermal method without a template, followed by in situ polymerization of PANI. The resulting SnO2 hollow spheres were uniformly deposited onto the surface or embedded into the PANI nanofibers to form a SnO2-PANI network structure. As electrode materials, the SnO2-PANI composites exhibit greatly enhanced specific capacitance (477 F g(-1) at a current density of 1 A g(-1)) and superior cycling performance (no capacitance loss after 3000 galvanostatic charge-discharge cycles). These intriguing features are attributed to the interaction between the SnO2 hollow spheres and PANI network. On the one hand, the SnO2 spheres not only provide larger area for electrochemical reaction but also release volume expansion during the charge-discharge process. On the other hand, the conducting PANI improves electrical conductivity and maintains mechanical integrity of the composites as well.

Abstract:In order to obtain nano/micro-structured organic-inorganic composite with unique properties for nanoelectronic/microelectronic device applications,a study on growth of ZnO using hydrothermal synthesis approach in the presence of suspension containing polyaniline nanowires was carried out.A series of characterizations were examined by transmission electron microscopy(TEM),the Fourier-Transform Infrared spectra(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),etc.The results indicated that the resulting-product was ZnO/PANi composite nanowire structure.The charge transfer was possibly taken place at the interface between ZnO and polyaniline nanowire.A chemical prototype sensor was constructed based on ZnO/PANi composite nanowire and an interdigital electrodes on flexible polymer substrate.The gas-sensing behaviors of the sensor to ammonia and HCI gas at room temperature were investigated.Results showed that the effects of the presence of ZnO on the sensitivity of polyaniline based chemical sensors were remarkably.This proved further that the strong interaction between ZnO and polyaniline was existed.

Abstract:NiO, conductive polymers have many important applications in supercapacitor, lithium-ion batteries, H2production with photocatalysis, chemical sensors, biosensors, electrochromic, environmental fields, and so on. Due to P-type semiconductors of NiO and polyaniline, the NiO/Polyaniline (PANi) would be a new nanocomposite with synergistic behaviors or complementary properties. Different morphologies of NiO were synthesized with hydrothermal method. NiO nanosheets arrays on glass substrate were obtained with optimized condition. And the NiO nanosheets arrays were immersed in the solution of aniline accompanying chemical oxidation reaction. The results indicated that a very thin layer of NiO, Ni (OH)2nanosheets arrays with organic functional modification of polyaniline were formed on glass substrate due to acid etching effects. The results of XRD showed that the presence of NiO and Ni (OH)2in prepared film were observed. The FTIR results also confirmed that this very thin film contained the components of polyaniline. This method is very simple, which would be used in many film electrodes for photocatalysis fields, supercapacitor, sensors, et al.

Abstract:This paper reports a novel self-templating methodology for the formation of SnO(2)-carbon hybrid hollow spheres by using Sn spheres as sacrificing templates. The time-sequenced structural evolution of the templates indicates that the nanoscale Kirkendall effect plays a critical role in the transformation from Sn spheres to the hybrid hollow spheres. Moreover, the as-synthesized SnO(2)-carbon hybrid hollow spheres have been applied as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, which exhibit a much higher initial Coulombic efficiency and better cycling performance than pure SnO(2) hollow spheres.

Abstract:Aniline monomers could be easily inserted into and polymerized within the interlayers of HNb3O delta. The conformation and electrochemical properties of the resulting nanocomoposites were discussed in detail. Two different mechanisms were proposed for the polymerization of monomers within the confined interlayers initiated by chemical oxidants and microwave irradiation, respectively. The analyses of thermogravimetric/differential calorimetric analyses, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared spectra indicated that the aromatic rings of the interlayered polyaniline (PANI) Could be parallel with or perpendicular to the inorganic slabs, and the interlayered PANI molecules were emeraldine salt and protonated by the protons of layered inorganic acid host. The cyclic voltammetry revealed that the properties of the layered host and the interlayer height have an effect on the redox behavior of the corresponding nanocomposites. Compared with the nanocomposites in which the aromatic rings were parallel with the inorganic stabs, the nanocomposites in which the aromatic rings were perpendicular to the slabs demonstrated a higher conductivity and electrochemical activity. Metal oxide and sulfide hollow spheres: layer-by-layer synthesis and their application in lithium-ion battery.

Abstract:A novel layer-by-layer approach has been developed to synthesize polycrystalline SnO2 hollow spheres with tunable shell thickness and size using SiO2 spheres as a template. The surface of the SiO2 spheres has been first modified by the polyelectrolyte, and subsequently, the compact SnO2 layer has deposited on the surface of the SiO2 spheres through a redox reaction because of the electrostatic attraction between the charged species. After HF etching treatment, the uniform SnO2 hollow spheres have been obtained. The approach presented herein has been extended to synthesize other metal oxide and sulfide hollow spheres such as In2O3 and ZnS. Moreover, the as-synthesized SnO2 hollow spheres have been applied in lithium-ion battery and show improved performance compared with SnO2 nanoparticles. The high surface area and stable hollow structure of the SnO2 hollow spheres may be responsible for the improved performance.

Abstract:Silver coated hollow SnO2 microspheres were prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method and a two-step in situ chemical reduction method using sodium stannate and urea as the main raw materials. The thickness and uniformity of the surface of Ag nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-dispersive (SEM/EDS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The results show that well dispersed hollow microspheres with diameter of 1 similar to 4 mu m are prepared by both methods. The morphology of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of hollow SnO2 sphere prepared by the one-step hydrothermal method is fine with agglomeration, while an uniform thickness silver shell with a diameter of 100 similar to 300 nm is obtained by two-step in situ chemical reduction method. The concentration of reducing agent glucose influences the size of silver nanoparticles and silver layer thickness obviously.

Abstract:Novel plum-branch-like carbon nanofibers (CNFs) decorated with SnO2 nanocrystals have been synthesized by electrospinning and subsequent thermal treatment in an Ar/H2O atmosphere. The morphologies of the as-synthesized SnO2/CNF composites and the contents of carbon and SnO2 can be controlled by adjusting the heat treatment temperature. It is proposed that the growth of SnO2/CNF composites follows the outward diffusion of tin composites from the as-spun tin composite/polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers, pyrolysis of PAN and oxidation of tin composites, and then formation of SnO2 nanocrystals around the CNFs. This novel 1D SnO2/CNF composite may have potential application in nanobatteries, nano fuel cells, and nanosensors. A preliminary result has revealed that the SnO2/CNF composite presents favourable electrochemical performance in lithium-ion batteries.

Synthesis and Properties of Li2sno3/Polyaniline Nanocomposites As Negative Electrode Material for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Abstract:The nanocomposites Li2SnO3/polyaniline (Li2SnO3/PANI) have been synthesized by a micro emulsion polymerization method. The structure, morphology and electrochemical properties of the as-prepared materials are characterized by XRD, FTIR, Raman, XPS, TGA, TEM and electrochemical measurements. Results show that Li2SnO3/PANI nanocomposites are composed of uniform and blocky nano-sized particles (40-50 nm) with clear lattice fringes. Electrochemical measurement suggests that Li2SnO3/PANI exhibits better cycling properties and lower initial irreversible capacities than Li2SnO3 as negative electrodes materials for lithium-ion batteries. At a current density of 60 mA g(-1) in the voltage about 0.05-2.0 V, the initial irreversible capacity of Li2SnO3/PANI is 563 mAh g(-1) while it is 687.5 mAh g(-1) to Li2SnO3. The capacity retained of Li2SnO3/PANI (569.2 mAh g(-1)) is higher than that of Li2SnO3 (510.2 mAh g(-1)) after 50 cycles. The PANI in the Li2SnO3/PANI nanocomposites can buffer the released stress caused by the drastic volume variation during the alloying/de-alloying process of Li-Sn. (c) 2012 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:Different polyaniline (PANI) micro/mesostructures have been synthesized by one-pot polymerization of aniline using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as oxidant and Fe3+ as catalyst under hydrothermal conditions. Well-defined PANI hollow spheres with relatively uniform sizes and controllable shell thickness can be prepared in case of low concentrations of monomer and oxidant. The oxidation-reduction reaction between the benzenoid unit and O-2 is a driving force for the formation of hollow spheres. This approach provides a unique route for the preparation of well-defined PANI hollow spheres in the absence of any sacrificial templates and organic surfactants and can be potentially extended to synthesize other polymer hollow spheres.

Abstract:AbstractLow‐cost, single‐step synthesis of hollow nanotubes of N‐doped carbon deposited on CoS is enabled by the simultaneous use of three functionalities of polyacrylonitrite (PAN) nanofibers: 1) a substrate for loading active materials, 2) a sacrificial template for creating hollow tubular structures, and 3) a precursor for in situ nitrogen doping. The N‐doped carbon in hollow tubes of CoS provides a high‐capacity anode of long cycle life for a rechargeable Li‐ion or Na‐ion battery cell that undergoes the conversion reaction 2 A++2 e−+CoS →Co+A2S with A=Li or Na.

Abstract:Hollow Pd/Sn bimetallic nanocrystals were fabricated by a fast one-pot strategy in an oleylamine system. This method produced a fine single crystalline bimetallic hollow nanostructure. The process and influencing factors of the reaction are also discussed in this work. Bimetallic nanoparticles possessing special hollow structures with single-crystalline nature are expected to have particular electronic, mechanical and optical properties.
Ultrathin SnO 2 nanosheets: Oriented attachment mechanism, nonstoichiometric defects, and enhanced lithium-ion battery performances

Abstract:We successfully synthesized large-scale and highly pure ultrathin SnO2 nanosheets (NSs), with a minimum thickness in the regime of ca. 2.1 nm as determined by HRTEM and in good agreement with XRD refinements and AFM height profiles. Through TEM and HRTEM observations on time-dependent samples, we found that the as-prepared SnO2 NSs were assembled by "oriented attachment" of preformed SnO2 nanoparticles (NPs). Systematic trials showed that well-defined ultrathin SnO2 NSs could only be obtained under appropriate reaction time, solvent, additive, precursor concentration, and cooling rate. A certain degree of nonstoichiometry appears inevitable in the well-defined SnO2 NSs sample. However, deviations from the optimal synthetic parameters give rise to severe nonstoichiometry in the products, resulting in the formation of Sn3O4 or SnO. This finding may open new accesses to the fundamental investigations of tin oxides as well as their intertransition processes. Finally, we investigated the lithium-ion storage of the SnO2 NSs as compared to SnO2 hollow spheres and NPs. The results showed superior performance of SnO2 NSs sample over its two counterparts. This greatly enhanced Li-ion storage capability of SnO2 NSs is probably resulting from the ultrathin thicknesses and the unique porous structures: the nanometer-sized networks provide negligible diffusion times of ions thus faster phase transitions, while the "breathable" interior porous structure can effectively buffer the drastic volume changes during lithiation and delithiation reactions.

Abstract:Hollow SnO2 spheres with oriented cone-like SnO2 nanoparticle shells were synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal process using NaF as the morphology controlling agent. The resulting hollow SnO2 sphere electrode exhibits high reversible capacity (initial charge and discharge capacities of 1342.9 and 1947.6 mAh/g at 0.1 C and 1235.4 and 1741.3 mAh/g at 1 C) and good cycling stability (discharge capacities maintained 758.1 and 449.6 mAh/g after 100 cycles at 0.1 C and 1 C, respectively). Good rate performance was also obtained (1234.5 mAh/g at 0.1 C, 884.2 mAh/g at 0.2 C, 692.4 mAh/g at 0.5 C, 497.6 mAh/g at 1 C, 315.8 mAh/g at 2 C and 80.6 mAh/g at 5 C, and more importantly, when the current density returns to 0.1 C, a capacity of 869.6 mAh/g can be recovered. The observed electrochemical performance can attributed to the hollow structure, the use of NaF for morphology control and the unique oriented cone like shell of the particles. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:The hollow SnO2 spheres were synthesized by using carbon spheres as hard templates, and then carboncoated SnO2/Sn hybrid hollow spheres can be obtained through annealing process after carbon coating. The as-prepared hybrid spheres are well dispersed and coated with a uniform carbon layer. The carboncoated SnO2/Sn hybrid hollow spheres electrode exhibits high initial Coulombic efficiency (82.3%), high reversible capacity and good cycling stability (the initial charge and discharge capacity of 878.7 and 1061.6 mA h/g was achieved and the discharge capacities maintained 401 mA h/g after 50 cycles at 0.1 C) and good rate performance (1156.8 mA h/g at 0.1 C, 752.2 mA h/g at 0.2 C, 481.4 mA h/g at 0.5 C, 289.5 mA h/g at 1 C, and 120.6 mA h/g at 2 C, and more importantly, when the current density finally backs to 0.1 C, a capacity of 811.6 mA h/g can be restored) for anode materials in lithium ion batteries due to the hierarchical porous structure, carbon coating and the presence of Sn. Abstract:Nanowire arrays of amorphous carbon-coated single-crystal SnO2 with a mean diameter of approximately 80 nm were synthesized by annealing the anodic alumina membrane filled with SnO2 sol. HRTEM and SAED revealed the crystallography of the single crystal and the in situ formed amorphous carbon tubes. When they were used as anodes in lithium ion batteries, the cycling performance was greatly improved.

Abstract:The SnO2/carbonaceous composites were firstly prepared by the hydrothermal reaction between SnCl4 and glucose.Sn/C nanocomposites were obtained after the treatment of the SnO2/carbonaceous composites in N2 gas flow,during which SnO2 was reduced to Sn nanoparticles by carbon thermal reduction.The products were characterized by XRD,TEM and EDX.The results shows that the Sn nanoparticles are spherical and dispersed in amorphous carbon materials.The mean diameters of Sn nanoparticles are 51 nm and 20 nm,respectively,for the Sn/C composites with Sn of 58.5wt% and 32.3wt%.Electrochemical tests demonstrate that the Sn/C nanocomposite electrodes exhibit high reversible capacity and good cycling performances used as anode materials of Li-ion battery.The mechanisms of the formation of Sn/C nanocomposites and the improvement in their cycling performances were also investigated.

Abstract:Abstract The aim of the study was to prepare SnO 2 nanowires via a combination of electrospinning and the sol–gel method from a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/dimetylformamide (DMF)/ethanol(EtOH)/tin(IV) chloride pentahydrate (SnCl 4 ·5H 2 O) solution. The morphology, structure and chemical composition of the obtained PVP/SnO 2 nanofibers and SnO 2 nanowires were examined using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) as well as a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDX). The optical property analysis was performed on the basis of UV–Vis spectra of absorbance as a function of the wavelength, based on which the rated values of band gaps of the fabricated 1D nanostructures were determined. The morphology analysis showed that the obtained amorphous SnO 2 nanowires with crystalline protuberances were characterized by a diameter of 50 to 120 nm. Results demonstrated that nanowires with a ratio of 1:1 precursor to polymer in the spinning solution were characterized by the smallest diameter after calcination and the smallest energy gap of 3.3 eV among all investigated samples. The rest of the studied materials were characterized by a larger energy gap (3.8 and 3.9 eV).
