Abstract:Gampsocoris enslini SeidenStuckeR, 1953 is proved to be new to the fauna of Romania. The genitalia of the species are figured. Some aspects of the variability of the species are discussed. A re markable, abnormally coloured specimen of Gampsocoris culicinus culicinus SeidenStuckeR, 1948 is figured.

Abstract:Hypogastrura gisini Strenzke, 1954 is redescribed based on paratypes and other available material. A description of similar new species from CreteH. cretensis sp. nov., formerly known as H. cf. gisini sensu Ellis (1976), is also provided. Both species belong to the manubrialis group and resemble H. breviempodialis (Stach, 1949), H. tianshanica Martynova, 1970 and H. ubsunurensis Babenko, 1999, which have a retinaculum with 3 + 3 teeth and a maxillary head of the H. vernalis type. H. gisini has a unique combination of morphological characters: claws without inner tooth, empodium shorter than half inner edge of claw, without basal lamella and setae m1 on abdominal tergum V usually absent. This species prefers sandy habitats on the shores of the Baltic Sea, Kattegat, North Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea. H. cretensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from its congeners by a combination of the following features: claws with small inner tooth, empodium with basal lamella equal to or slightly longer than half of the inner edge of claws and setae m1 on abdominal tergum V usually present. The new species seems to be associated with anthropogenic habitats mainly (e.g. roadsides, orchards, meadows) in the interior of Crete.

Abstract:An updated checklist of the pseudoscorpion fauna of Hungary is presented. Chthonius cf. alpicola Beier, 1951 is newly reported for the country. Neobisium inaequale Chamberlin, 1930 is regarded as a junior synonym of N sylvaticum (C.L. Koch, 1835) ( syn. nov. ). Chelifer tegulatus Tömösváry, 1883 is regarded as a junior synonym of Dactylochelifer latreillii (Leach, 1817) ( syn. nov. ). Rhacochelifer quadrimaculatus (Tömösváry, 1882) is regarded as a senior synonym of Beierochelifer peloponnesiacus (Beier, 1929) ( syn. nov. ), forming the combination Beierochelifer quadrimaculatus (Tömösváry, 1882) ( comb nov) . Furthermore, Chthonius pygmaeus (Beier, 1934), Neobisium ( Neobisium ) simoni (L. Koch, 1873), Neobisium ( Neobisium ) validum (L. Koch, 1873), Rhacochelifer peculiaris (L. Koch, 1873), and Chernes montigenus (Simon, 1879) are excluded from the Hungarian fauna. Neobisium ( N .) seminudum (Daday and Tömösváry, 1880) and Chelifer entzii Daday and Tömösváry, 1880 are designated as nomina dubia. As a consequence, the pseudoscorpion fauna of Hungary now comprises 49 species belonging to eight families with confirmed occurrence data; the occurrence of 6 further species recorded earlier for Hungary is doubtful. Phoresy is documented for Ephippiochthonius tetrachelatus (Preyssler, 1790) and Diplotemnus balcanicus (Redikorzev, 1928). Habitat preference of each species with confirmed occurrence in Hungary are assumed. Notes are given to some old data reported by Ödön Tömösváry and Eugen Daday from neighbouring countries. Microbisium manicatum (L. Koch, 1873) is excluded from the fauna list of Romania.

Abstract:The species of the genus Copelatus Erichson, 1832 occurring in the Dominican Republic are reviewed. Five species are recorded, with recent collecting data provided for four of them. Copelatus martini sp. nov., a member of the consors species group, is described and illustrated. It is compared to the apparently similar species C. guadelupensis Legros, 1948 based on morphological characters and on partial sequences of the CO1 gene. Interesting cases of intraspecific variability in the number of elytral dorsal striae in C. martini sp. nov. and C. vitraci are discussed in the light of the traditional taxo-nomic importance of this character for species group delimitation in Copelatus. Copelatus caelatipennis Aubé, 1838 and C. vitraci Legros, 1948 are recorded for the first time from the Dominican Republic (and therefore also from Hispaniola Island). The remaining species are C. posticatus (Fabricius, 1801), and C. insolitus Chevrolat, 1863 (for the latter, pre-sence in Hispaniola is doubtful and requires confirmation). Finally, C. guadelupensis is recorded from Puerto Rico for the first time, and a checklist of the Copelatus species of the Antilles is appended.
A new interesting and unidentified Schmidtea species in Romania (Platyhelminthes, Tricladida, Dugesiidae)

Abstract:This paper presents the characters (morphology and aspects of reproductive biology) of a population belonging to the genus , in Romania. This population shows similarities with the other Schmidtea species: with , the presence of cephalic sensory fossae; with , the asexual reproduction by fission; with , the presence of a diaphragm of the ejaculatory duct to the secondary seminal vesicle. Set of characters make the population distinct and thus, candidate for a new species: the disposition / arrangement of the genital atria; a wide and straight / narrow and convoluted ejaculatory duct within the penis papilla; in some specimens the penis papilla has two lobes, each with own duct.

Abstract:Collections of Heteroptera at the Natural History Museum in Belgrade include four species of genus Stygnocoris: S. cimbricus, S. fuligineus, S. rusticus and S. sabulosus. S. cimbricus is a new species in Serbian fauna. This paper combines all records of genus Stygnocoris in Serbia and presents data for 46 specimens within 22 recording sets.

Abstract:Nine species of Griburius Haldeman, 1849 have been revised and critically discussed. One additional species, formerly included in Metallactus Suffrian, 1852, has been transferred to Griburius: Griburius tredecimpunctatus (Suffrian, 1866) comb. nov. The following synonymies are proposed: Griburius hyacinthinus (Erichson, 1848) (= Griburius fragrans (Suffrian, 1866) syn nov.), Griburius posticatus (Suffrian, 1866) (= Griburius distigma (Suffrian, 1866) syn nov.; = Griburius rufomarginatus (Suffrian, 1866) syn nov.), Griburius tredecimpunctatus (Suffrian, 1866) comb. nov. (= Griburius incomparabilis (Suffrian, 1866) syn. nov.). Type series of each species were tracked down and a lectotype was designated for each of them, respectively. Redescriptions, illustrations and current known distribution of all the treated species are given. Additionally, Griburius bicoloratus sp. nov. and Griburius consanguineus sp. nov., both from Brazil, are described as new to science.

Abstract:Overall coloration, size and thoracic morphology have formed the basis for taxonomic differentiation of taxa within the genus Eugaster at specific or subspecific levels over the years. The present study employs a range of methods to examine the morphology of 58 specimens (18♂♂ and 40♀♀) from Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, collected from altitudes varying between 10 and 1795 metres AMSL. Moroccan sampling sites include localities on both the north and south of the High Atlas and from either side of the Middle Atlas, i.e., the Anti-Atlas, Western Meseta and High Plateau. The various techniques involve the characterisation of the five key colour forms and an investigation to examine links between colour form and geographical location and altitude, biometric analysis comprising selected variables, thoracic structure examination through feature extraction and edge detection, microscopy to examine male stridulatory files, an examination of the male genital sclerite structure for the presence of titillators, as well as molecular and phylogenetic analysis. Statistical tests are performed for results pertaining to biometrics, thoracic skeletisation, and the number of pegs on stridulatory organs. From results obtained, this study finds no basis to support the notion of the various taxa described in the past being assigned the rank of species and considers these to be infraspecific variants or forms. Consequently, the present authors propose to synonymise Eugaster guyoni (Serville, 1838) with Eugaster spinulosa (Johannson, 1763), resulting in the genus Eugaster being represented in North Africa by a unique but highly variable taxon, in terms of coloration, size and thoracic morphology.

Abstract:The brevicollis species group of the genus Geodromicus Redtenbacher, 1857 is reviewed. All three Western Palaearctic species of the group, including G. alborzensis sp. n. (North Iran: Alborz Mts.), G. brevicollis Fauvel, 1875 (Caucasus, north-eastern Turkey, north-western Iran) and G. transversus Motschulsky, 1860 (Caucasus) are(re-) described and illustrated. The following new synonymies are established: Geodromicus Redtenbacher, 1857 = Brachydromicus Bordoni, 1993 syn. n., G. brevicollis = G. jarrigeanus Fagel, 1976 syn. n., = G. jarrigeanus ziganensis Coiffait, 1978 syn. n., = G. armeniacus Iablokoff-Khnzorian, 1989 syn. n., and G. transversus = G. flavipes Motschulsky, 1860 syn. n. The following synonymies previously established by Iablokoff-Khnzorian (1989) are confirmed: G. brevicollis = G. latiusculus Eppelsheim, 1878, = G. constricticollis Eppelsheim, 1890. A lectotype of G. constricticollis is designated. A key to species and distributional maps of all species are provided. Two species represent new country records: G. brevicollis for Azerbaijan and Iran, and G. transversus for Georgia and Armenia.

Abstract:The genus Xenasterides Newton, 2017 is considered here as a junior synonym of Pseudastenus Bernhauer, 1933, both monotypic and Neotropical genera of Paederinae (Staphylinidae). A thorough description of the genus is provided. The species Pseudastenus barretoi Bernhauer, 1933 and P. plaumanni (Bierig, 1939) are redescribed and illustrated, six new species are described, and a dichotomous key is available for species. These new species are: P. amazonicus, P. ferrugineus, P. latus, P. oculatus, P, ribeirocostae, and P. schubarti.

Abstract:The fastidiosissimus species-group of Stenodynerus de Saussure, 1863 is revised in Western Europe and North Africa, combining morphological data and DNA barcoding. Six species are recognized: S. difficilis (Morawitz, 1867) stat. resurr. (= S. fastidiosissimus auct.), S. fastidiosissimus (de Saussure, 1855), S. laborans (Costa, 1882) stat. resurr. , S. montanus Selis, sp. nov. , S. muelleri (Dusmet, 1917) (= Stenodynerus gusenleitneri Giordani Soika, 1986 syn. nov. ), and S. rufescens Giordani Soika, 1977 stat. nov . Lectotypes are designated for Odynerus fastidiosissimus de Saussure, 1855 and Odynerus insularis André, 1883 non Smith, 1859. A key for the identification of members of this species-group is provided. DNA barcodes are published for every species, representing the first available sequences for the fastidiosissimus species-group.

Abstract:The taxa of the subgenus Turritus of Cochlostoma (Cochlostomatidae) are analysed based on molecular and morphological data. The phylogenetic trees, based on ribosomal (16S) and nuclear (H3) DNA, indicate that the currently accepted taxonomy should be revised. Based on our data, there are 37 species in Turritus of which 5 are new to science: Cochlostoma (Turritus) pallgergelyi sp. nov., C. (T. ) muranyii sp. nov., C. (T. ) hallgassi sp. nov., C. (T. ) kontschani sp. nov. and C. (T. ) lacazei sp. nov. Of these, we describe the shells and the female genitalia and summarize the distributional data. Some samples (or set of samples) will remain undetermined for lack of data and these are reported in the appendix.

Abstract:Cingulacarus Elsen is a monotypic genus of Trigynaspida based on C. gangeticus Elsen, collected from the scarabaeid beetle Scarabaeus gangeticus (Castelnau) (Col., Scarabaeidae) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Herein, a second species of the genus, C. kermanensis sp. nov. is described based on female and male specimens collected in southeastern Iran, in association with Oryctes elegans L. (Col., Scarabaeidae). The diagnosis of the genus Cingulacarus is revised, with a discussion of the impact on current generic keys for the family Diplogyniidae, and a proposal to eliminate the current subfamilial classification within that family.

Abstract:Heterospilus sicanus (Marshall, 1888) is redescribed and illustrated based on the holotype of Dendrosoter sicanus Marshall, 1888 and on recently collected material from its type locality (Sicily, Italy). Previous host records for this species are unreliable. Here, the host of H. sicanus , the rare ptinid beetle Gastrallus pubens Fairmaire, 1875, is recorded for the first time, having been reared in a historic library in Palermo, Italy. Heterospilus sicanus is compared with the similar species Telebolus (= Heterospilus ) corsicus Marshall, 1888, which was described in the same monograph from Corsica (France), and it is also redescribed and illustrated. Atoreuteus ceballosi Docavo Alberti, 1960, syn. nov. is synonymised under Heterospilus sicanus (Marshall, 1888), and Hormiopterus (= Rhaconotus ) ollivieri Giraud var. flava Fahringer, 1931, syn. nov. is a junior synonym of Heterospilus cephi Rohwer, 1925. A key for determination of the Western Palaearctic Heterospilus species with a striate vertex is provided and the distributions of H. sicanus and H. corsicus are discussed.

Abstract:The revision of the flea beetle genus Argopistes Motschulsky, 1860 in Madagascar is provided. Six new species are described: Argopistes janakmoravecorum sp. nov. , A. laterosinuatus sp. nov. , and A. vadoni from the northern area; A. jenisi sp. nov. , A. keiseri sp. nov. , and A. seyrigi sp. nov. from the central area. A new synonym of Argopistes brunneus Weise, 1895 is established: A. sexguttatus Weise, 1895, syn. nov. , since A. sexguttatus is shown to be a chromatic form of A. brunneus . A diagnostic key of the seven Malagasy Argopistes species is provided, with photographs of the habitus, median lobe of the aedeagus, and spermatheca. Finally, based on known occurrences, the current suitable areas for this flea beetle genus in Madagascar are estimated using Ecological Niche Modelling ( ENM ) techniques.

Abstract:Two new species of herb gall wasps (Hym., Cynipidae) developing on plants in the genera Sonchus L. and Crepis L. (Asteraceae) are described from Southeastern Romania (Dobrogea Province): Aulacidea andriescui sp. n. gall inducer on Sonchus palustris L. and Phanacis dobrogicus sp. n. gall maker on Crepis foetida subsp. rhoeadifolia (M. Bieb.) Čelak. In addition to the diagnosis, identification, morphological description, life-cycle, geographical distribution, photos of gall and host plant, and SEM images, data on the associated fauna obtained from the galls of the two new species are also presented.

Abstract:The geophilid centipede Endogeophilus alberti sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on a single specimen collected from Provence, southern France. It is very similar to E. ichnusae Bonato, Zapparoli, Drago & Minelli, 2016, which is known only from three specimens from south-western Sardinia, and was the only species in the genus Endogeophilus Bonato, Zapparoli, Drago & Minelli, 2016. Both species share a remarkably narrow body, very short setae, and an unusually high number of legs, which are relatively stout. All these traits are rare among geophilids and suggest an endogeic life style. Despite of the very few specimens available for comparison and the difficulties to distinguish inter-specific differences from intra-specific variation, the two species differ at least in the shape of the pretarsi of the second maxillae and the shape of the forcipules. A revised diagnosis of the genus Endogeophilus is also provided, with an identification key to all genera of Geophilidae s.l. recorded so far in Europe, based on selected characters to evaluate without anatomical dissection and illustrated with original pictures.

Abstract:A doubt has arisen about the taxonomic status of Agabuslotti within the Agabusuliginosus species group due to morphological similarities and lack of molecular data. In this study, a comprehensive morphological and molecular analysis of specimens from Central Europe was conducted, focusing on the Hungarian population. Morphological comparisons of genital structures revealed age-dependent variations, suggesting a gradual transition from A.lotti to A.uliginosus. Molecular analysis of COI sequences further supported this hypothesis, showing minimal genetic differences among most specimens, with only one individual exhibiting distinctiveness. Therefore, A.lotti syn. nov. must be regarded as a junior synonym of A.uliginosus. Our findings also highlight the need for additional multi-marker studies covering a broader geographic range and including both molecular and morphological approaches to elucidate the taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships within this species group. The inclusion of Hungarian samples notably enriched the diversity of haplotypes, emphasizing the importance of expanding sampling efforts in future research.

Abstract:A new genus Kaszubia gen. nov. (type species Kaszubia wanati sp. nov.) is described from Eocene Baltic amber (found in the vicinity of Gdańsk). It is similar to the genus Rhyncolosoma Champion, 1914 but differs in the six-segmented flagellum, rather thick straight rostrum, non-transverse 3rd antennomere, and scape not reaching the middle of the eye.
