Abstract:Recently unearthed documents have opened new opportunities for research into the poetry of the Tang Dynasty. The newly discovered documents offer the potential for extensive research into the poets during this dynasty,such as Cui Hao' s appointed official position,Han Yu' s friends,and the position of Miao Fa within his family. Wrong information from the poets' biographies,as described in the official history books,can be corrected with this new information. With the discovery of these documents,research into the poetry of the Tang Dynasty can be expanded.

Abstract:Those poets relegated to southern China in the Mid-Tang Dynasty all showed a Qu Yuan complex in their poems.For example,under the influence of Qu Yuan's poems,such as LI SAO and JIU GE,Liu Yuxi and Liu Zongyuan expressed primarily a spirit of complaint and fury while the more rational Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi both accepted Qu Yuan's character of loyalty and uprightness but refused to follow his will of consistence.In contrast,Han Yu and Li Shen expressed their complaint about innocent mistreatment by comparing their experience to Qu Yuan's miserable treatment.The Qu Yuan complex of the poets relegated in the Early and Prosperous Tang Dynasty was the very source of that of the relegated poets in the Mid-Tang Dynasty.In general,the former was rational while the latter was sentimental but more tragic than the former.

Abstract:There were abundant excavated documents in the twentieth century, of which engraved stone monuments and epigraph tablets took the first place, and could be trailed or dated back to Tang Dynasty If some scholars could exert their efforts to these, they would definitely get a new vision of Tang Dynasty literary history The main important function of these newly excavated documents consists in: first, they provide a wide range of new materials for those observer and writers; secondly, some lost documents are retrieved; thirdly, they widen our knowledge of the background of Tang literature In a word, they are the inseparable materials in an integral study of Tang literature
Diversification and Transformation of Yongshi Poetry in Tang Dynasty

Abstract:As part of Existential Poetry,Yongshi Poetry,which is affected by social and cultural factors in its development process,shows different characteristics in different times.In Tang Dynasty,people's desire to build private gardens and their way of life resulting from it changed Yongshi Poetry both in form and in content.In Yongshi Poetry more attention was paid to depicting the shape of rocks and the abstract aesthetic which symbolize mountains and forests.In return,appreciating and praising rocks also exerted strong cultural impact upon garden construction and rock-appreciating culture,thus not only forming the aesthetic tradition of creating a forest realm by stacking stones and building up mountains,but aslo exerting a profound and far-reaching influence upon the landscaping of gardens which attaches much importance to the impressionistic approach and upon the idea of landscaping gardens about true and false.The formation and development of appreciating garden stones and Yongshi Poems which eulogize rocks represent a process of influencing and promoting each other.

Abstract:The paper re-analyzes the phenomena and causation of flourishing tea culture in Tang dynasty in China, which would help to clarify amphibolous view whether tea culture was first flourishing in Tang dynasty (A.D. 608~907) or North Song dynasty (A.D. 960~1127). The authors point out that Tang dynasty is a landmark time in the formation of tea culture and set the base tone of the subsequent development of tea culture. The paper lists six initial phenomena of flourishing tea culture in Tang dynasty and indicates six possible causations.

Abstract:Landscape painting flourished in the late Tang dynasty and reached its peak during the Song dynasty. It means that the artistry of landscapes no longer serves as decoration for portraits, nor is it merely a backdrop for unfolding stories. Instead, it is a simple pursuit of the aesthetic pleasure derived from landscapes themselves. In this pursuit, the landscape painting of the Song dynasty had a profound impact on the subsequent development of landscape art, both in terms of form and the spiritual content expressed. It is not an exaggeration to say that Song dynasty landscape painting laid the foundation for the tradition of literati landscape painting. Guo Xi, a master of landscape painting and a painter-theorist in the mid-Northern Song period, actively explored his artistic practice. He also reflected on and summarized his methods. From the overall conception of the meaning of landscapes to the self-pursuit of brushwork style, Guo Xi endeavored to narrow the gap between abstract ideas and concrete execution. His efforts resonated with the Daoist philosophy of Neo-Confucianism in the Northern Song, transcending the dimensions of transcendental "essence" and personal "effort" to establish a connected path of nature, body, and destiny. From a different perspective, this also represents the interplay of cosmology and ontology through generative time.

Abstract:the Tang Dynasty in Chinese history is typical of the multicultural coexistence dynasty.For thousands of years,people always put a Tang Dynasty-and a literature genre-poetry together,the flourishing of Tang Dynasty was the heroic period and nourished the mind and the free verse,Tang disasters also inspired misery and harsh criticism.Many poets recorded every aspect of the society at that time,and commonly painted a panorama of Tang.Sports are certainly no exception,scholars,emperors played balls,played sword-dance,even woman could get rid of traditional ways of thinking,came out of the attic to ride horse,to do archery.This paper reviews from the 1990's,hopes to study Tang Dynasty to provide some theoretical basis for sports culture.

Abstract:The Tang Dynasty had a prosperous economy and political stability and good educational policies marking the golden age of Tang Poetry with the greatest number of poets and the most brilliant number of compositions in the history of classical Chinese poetry. As a precious cultural heritage, Tang poetry and the culture of the Tang Dynasty were positively received in Vietnam... Vietnam has been many in-depth research works about regarding the influence and reception of some typical poets of the Tang period, namely DuFu, Li Bai, Bai Ju Yi... Other Tang poets are still faint silhouettes. In the process of studying the history of the propagation and reception of Tang poetry into Vietnam, we have more knowledge about Tang poems composed by poets during their exile in our country. They have an intimate relationship with Vietnamese writers, so they have had the opportunity to disseminate the Tang poetry, and have contributed several poems with the enormous value in content and art at the same time. Within the scope of the article, we focus on introducing and surveying poetry in the exile of two poets of the Early Tang period – namely Du Shen Yan and Shen Quan Qi. The survey of poems written in a special historical period by two poets shows that the beauty and undying vitality of the Tang poetry is also the contribution of poems describing Vietnam’s nature, landscapes, and Vietnamese.

Abstract:Han Yu and Yao He were important literary master from the mid Tang Dynasty,both leaving significant heritage in the history of Chinese literature. Although researchers seldom compare them in parallel,these two masters confronted the same issue of worldliness and solitude,since both of them were civil officials rising from the landlord class.Worldlinessmeans the speculation,hustle,and glamour of office,whilesolitudefocuses on the simplicity,tranquility,and peace of retreat in mountains and woods. Troubled by these conflicting aspirations,both the two masters had experienced the inward turn from aspiring to benefit the society to maintaining individual goodness. Such a turn conveys their concern and construction of their private world,whose prominent feature is the pursuit of leisure lifestyle of civil officials where they could manage their daily life with aesthetic attitude in their private world. Their leisurely and simple life attitude and elegant,quiet aesthetics have formed one of the essential elements of Chinese aesthetics.

Abstract:Although the ancient style poem in Tang dynasty regarded the Han - wei ancient poetry as a model,but as a genre of Tang poem,it had its process of establishment and development just as the modern style poem.Since the Yongming style from Qi-Liang to Tang period,the poetry appeared two different branches:the ancient and modern styles, which was the pioneer of the ancient style of Tang poem.That it really established was related to that the modern style poetry came out completely.The process of its origination,establishment and development of Tang ancient style poem,was not only the successor of Han - Song style poem but also the process of moving away from Liang - Sui style poetry.

Abstract:During the middle of the Ming Dynasty when the doctrine of back to the ancients dominated in the circle of thinking,Tang Yin's view on literature had some spiritual similarities and different value priorities with the Former Seven Geniuses' doctrine of back to the ancients,Wang Yang-ming's ideaology and the Tang-Song school's inherent qualities.They had both similarities and differences in terms of philosophy,poetic theory,poetic proposition,and poetic creation.Tang Yin and other Wuzhong scholars,agreed with the Former Seven Geniuses' doctrine of back to the ancients,but the seven aimed to restore the classic poetry with Confucian traditions,while the Wuzhong scholars advocated the free presentation of emotions and talents.Tang Yin and Wang Yangming had some similarities in favor of the subjectivity of humans,but Tang Yin paid more attention to humans' emotions,natural requirements and individuality than his contemporaries.In terms of literary creation,Tang Yin acclaimed the real and natural expression of feelings and emotions,which had some similarities with the Tang-Song school's coherence of words and feelings.It is right to say in some way Tang Yin's literary creation influenced and enhanced the changes of the academic trend of the middle of the Ming Dynasty,and hence the role and influence of his distinctive creation can not be denied.

Abstract:In the period of Five Dynasties,the description of Lingnan experienced a lot of changes,which was precisely reflected in the new Ci-poetry.Many outstanding works praising the beautiful southern scenery were produced in that period,represented by Nan Xiang Zi of Li Xun.The Lingnan scenery in Li Xun's works was beautiful and amiable,and the Lingnan women were pure and moving.Moreover,the language of these works was natural,and the tone was bright,and the style of Hua Jian Ji was unique.There were several reasons why Li Xun was able to find the beauty of Lingnan and got rid of the bias emerging since ancient times.Firstly,as a Persian,Li Xun did not share the concept that the Central Plains was the orthodox and might not concern about the differences among various Chinese tribes.Secondly,Li Xun traveled to Lingnan with a free identity at leisure and in peace,so his view of the Lingnan scenery was objective,and he could objectively observe the beautiful scenery and the simple customs.Thirdly,Li Xun had a good knowledge of the Lingnan herbs,so he could deal with so many local images in his works.

Abstract:The poems of prefectural officials,which originated from Xie Lingyun and Xie Tiao in the Southern Dynasties,were visibly increasing in number after the Dali Period(766-779) in the Tang Dynasty.Its principal poets were some prefectural officials who called themselves Cangzhou officials.Both the transfer of their official positions from the capital to the provincial areas,and the change of the literati's opinion of officialdom increased the number of literati who acted as prefectural or county magistrates.The system of exiling demoted officials to remote prefectures or counties,together with their leisurely lifestyle and their feeling of being abandoned as a result of easy work and loneliness,brought about the common conception regarding the remote prefectures or counties as Cangzhou.Meanwhile,most of the prefectural residences in the Tang Dynasty were architecturally arranged with artificial hills,ponds,towers and pavilions,and formed a complementary relationship with the natural landscape in a prefecture,providing a realistic environment in which the literati could enjoy the delight as if they were in Cangzhou after their business time.As the poems of prefectural officials focused on the reinforcement of the characteristics of the quietness in a prefectural residence,the poets intentionally expressed their alienation from the officialdom and created a quiet and comfortable world of their own.Under such circumstances,they made some changes in their poem writing,while inheriting the traditional style of Xie Lingyun and Xie Tiao,and finally formed a new poetic style which assumed a different aesthetic vision from the Bieye Poems(which described the view of the villas) in the early glorious age of the Tang Dynasty.

Abstract:In terms of religious thought and intent,the Shangqing School which originated and developed during the Six Dynasties was the leading School of Taoist thought in the Tang Dynasty.Because of its specialities,Zhengao became the most important text of Shangqing School,and was widely favored by the intellectuals of the Tang Dynasty.It also served as the main source of Immortal Taoism for poets.The stories,sacred poems,symbols,images and motifs in Zhengao,especially the aesthetic intention,greatly contributed to the poetic boom in the Tang Dynasty.The effect of Zhengao on Tang poems is a significant example demonstrating how poets can be influenced by one kind of thought and intent through the acceptance of a single text.

Abstract:Landscape poems and paintings are typi-cal representatives of Chinese art spirit.There were paintings of natural scenes and myth before the Han Dynasty.As one of the results of Taoism and meta-physics in the Wei and Jin Dynasties,the naturalism was the thinking resource of landscape painting.At the same time,the popularity of Xuanyan poems and countryside scenic poems created a good air for land-scape painting.The establishment of landscape paint-ing should be in the Jin Dynasty,and got developed in the South Dynasties.
