Analytical Approach for the Prediction of EMP Coupling to Multiconductor Transmission Lines

Abstract:An analytical approach in the frequency domain for EMP coupling to multiconductor transmission lines (MTLs) is introduced in this paper. This approach is based on the iterative technique originated from waveform relaxation. The key point of this approach is that both of the external EMP exciting sources and the virtual exciting sources by the adjacent lines at each iteration could be represented by the equivalent distributed exciting sources and further solved analytically, which leads to high efficiency and the ability to handle EMP coupling to MTLs with a large number of lines.
